    One of my favourite camping trips of all time was at 427 on Buzzard - amazing to see other people enjoying it as much as you guys. Also love the queens shirt, go gaels!

      Thanks Brandyn 😊 With travel still being largely restricted, we’re resorting to new adventurous activities, such as ‘portaging’ haha

    Cool video! Where did you find a map that has the distance of canoeing required? I always see them label the portage distances but not the water ☹️

    • @robandmirjana
      @robandmirjana  3 года назад

      Thanks Amanda! The company is called Unlostify and their maps are awesome. They include the distance and estimated travel time, level of difficulty, key landmarks and are waterproof. However, they’re only available for a few Ontario parks (Kawartha Highlands, Killarney, French River, Massassauga, French River). We got ours online from MEC, but they also have their own website with some discounts if you buy more than one!

    Hey!! Great video!! We are a family from Spain with 3 kids from 7,6 and 4 yo and we have booked 3 days camping in Kawartha Highlands? Do you think its safe and feasible? I am specially scared of the animals (specially bears) during the night... Any recos??

    • @robandmirjana
      @robandmirjana  2 года назад

      Hey, thanks for the comment! Yes I think it would be fine. I’ve seen families with kids at Kawartha (and at Massassauga) during our trips. Since it’s more of a southern campground (compared to Algonquian or Killarney), bears shouldn’t be as much of a worry. We had cell reception the entire trip and we did see people on almost every lake. Since you reserve a spot in advance, you can take your time and not worry about having to find one. Just be sure to bring bear spray just in case! Which route and lakes are you staying at?

    • @gmv5640
      @gmv5640 2 года назад

      @@robandmirjana thanks so much for your answer! So we will Begin in Long Lake Access and we will go to Buzzard, stoplog and cherry. I thought the bear sprays were forbidden in the park! I am specially reluctant of going with the kids 😬

    • @robandmirjana
      @robandmirjana  Год назад

      sorry I didn’t see the reply earlier - that sounds like a great route- similar to ours! I’m not sure about the bear spray. you can always try an easier route (let’s say staying 2 nights at the same spot instead of having to pack up and leave) just to see how it goes with the kids!

      @robandmirjana  3 года назад

      Hey Ben, no we actually didn’t see any bears there (that was a joke haha). If you plan on going, be sure to still hang your food (especially from small animals) and bring bear spray to be safe. P.s. If you liked this video, check out our Killarney one as well :)
