I know what you mean about getting gear out of season. I got pretty much the same camera for Christmas and still haven't really had the chance to try it out. I also got a new gravity filter at the end of August and it's probably going to be this August before I get to try it out. Never seen that remote for the camera though, I'll have to look into it as using my phone to control it won't last long in the back country.

Very nice video and tips. I have an eye on that sony actioncam and as soon as the budjet lets me I'll make my move.
    Thanks for sharing. ATB Marcio

FYI i bought the older version of that camera after seeing your previous video where you mentioned it. factorydirect here in Canada has a whole bunch of refurb units on for pretty cheap. Kind of clunky at first learning to control it via WiFi, but it does work fairly well, and I really like the wide angle.

I agree. The wifi isn't the best. I'm jealous, How much did you safe buying the older model?

Kevin Callan $150 for the "bike" verson of the HDR AS15 - so it includes the housing + head strap your daughter was using + a handlebar mount. But it is NOT water resistant like your model (without the housing) and you need to put it in the housing in order to mount to a tripod, which is a bummer.
PS: where do you get good canoe maps for the Kawartha Highlands park? I just looked on ontario parks and they have a map, but it does not list campsites or portages...

wordsnwood There's a specific map now for the park. Wildrock in Peterborough has them but I'm sure other outdoor stores would as well.

I bought the Sony HDR-AS30V used like new $130,00 - AKA-LU1 Camcorder Cradle with LCD $69.95 - Sony Skeleton Frame for Action Cam AKASF1 $29.95 and a "great remote mic" - BOYA BY-WM5 wireless microphone $78.46 that on my camera you half to use with the skeleton frame.

Love your vids... decided to check out the Kelly Kettle stoves... to my dismay not $20. On their website it indicates 35.95 euro for the cheapest stove (not the kit.) Is there a location I'm not familiar with, or have they raised their price since your vid?

I think he meant $20 for the hobo stove, not for the kelly kettle kit. The hobo stove is actually an add on to the kit, so you have to already own the base and then the hobo stove is only $15. On their website they do have the option to just buy the base with the stove, and its $25. You can find it under accessories/parts and it is called 'large hobo stove kit'.

Thanks for the review on the hobo stove!! I live in Ontario too and I'm just wondering where you got your kelly kettle from? If I try to order it from their website, shipping to canada costs more than the whole kit. But other canadian retailers don't seem to have the hobo stove.

Hi Kevin! Do you know of any camp sites you can access without a canoe in the Kawartha Highlands? Overnight hiking?
