You're so lucky i'm visiting the 'Jurassic coast' at Dorset looked on Furze cliffs and Osmington Mills and after several hrs only found 1 ammonite - not even broken pieces so shows some beaches are much better than others!

You guys could use a saw and cut them flat to make fancy coasters. If they let ya you guys could cut some of those slabs with fossils in them and make super cool expensive tables. That’d be amazing. I’ve seen some cool expoxy tables where they put rocks or fossils in and make a table. Great video!

Great finds once again. Where I come from ammonites are as rare as, well ammonite fossils in NZ. We do however have some cracking plant fossils down our way and some spectacular bivalves and Miocene crabs. Here is a link, if you are interested, of various bits and pieces found over the years. You may note a reasonable number of North Yorkshire Coast fossils among the albums, but these were not uncovered direct but were discovered on eBay. www.flickr.com/photos/nzfossil/albums/with/72157674626118091 Keep on posting - most enjoyable to an ammonite starved fossil hunter from the southern hemisphere.

After you split ammonites what is the cleaning process? Do you flake away more rock to expose fossil after splitting with finer tools? Do you ever split away both sides so you have a whole ammonite and two side impressions?

Hi, I've been fossiling in east yorkshire since I was a kid, I'm guessing the stuff I find there comes from north yorkshire as it's all erratics there. Loads of amenities, belemnites, crinoids and devils toenails. But I've never been to the north Yorkshire coast. How do you access the beach at sandsend? Is it fairly easy? Is there parking nearby? We're quite happy to trek and we're physically fit and have all the right kit so doesn't have to be massively easy to access.
