- My dad and brothers did it again! Moved cattle across fields, roads, and railroad tracks with atv's and trucks! It wasn't quite as easy this time! Quite the rodeo!
special thanks to Jim for allowing us to use his videos! He just so happened to be there to get some photos of an soon coming train, and got some great videos of the chaos!

God bless our farmers! They don't get enough recognition or thanks for everything they do.
Years ago a radio host said on the eighth day God created a farmer.
I love farms and being in the country around farms is my aromatherapy! I grew up around farms and was in the FFA in school. My path lead me to not marry a farmer but i still appreciate everything they do and love farms. God bless our farmers!
thank you! Yes, farmers work so hard and don't get enough credit sometimes. So thank you! FFA sounds fun!
Oh wow! The drone shots with cows and the train going in the background was just breathtaking!
thanks! I was pretty happy with that one!
Great video! I got a German Shepherd puppy for my 8th grade 4H project (dog training). After he was trained pretty good to stay away from 501 in front of our house in Myerstown, we started letting him loose because we had wide open spaces all behind us. He did very well except every morning when the Amish farmer next door brought his milk cows up adjacent to our land, Sarge thought it was his job to herd them back to the barn. I would watch from the bedroom window proud as a peacock mama at how he could run a herd of about 50 all the way down there. The farmer was not quite as amused and thrilled as I was, however. Something about Du bist ein dingle duffus (er something lol). I eventually trained him not to do it but he would look longingly down there. This video brought back fond memories!
oh my! you gave me one good belly laugh! Sounds like you pretty much nailed the dutch! Oh that is funny! Thanks for sharing!
WOW!! that was fantastic!! I was on the edge of my seat saying hurry hurry the train is coming!!! haha
😂😂 my mission was accomplished then! keeping you in suspense. LOL. I was pretty up tight as well when it was happening. thankfully it was a slow train!
Fascinating! I sure was biting my nails when I heard the train was coming!
😂😂
Wonderful to see true ranchers. Beautiful family. Thanks for sharing with us.
thank you!
I didn't know bull calves could be so stubburn!!! What a job!!!! Nice drone shots! Very impressive to see that.
thanks! Yes, every now and then you get one. Usually they prefer staying with the herd, but that one was determined to go back home! LOL
It's a wall of cattle!!! That was CRAZY!!!!!! 😮 I really enjoyed the music! and listening to the Pennsylvania Dutch Accents! 😀 One of my favorite footage shots was the drone way above the cattle when they were in the green field!! That was so beautiful!!! Was that your dad that said "Don't get me on that thing!" ?? LOL
thank you! yes, quite an exciting day, and that was my dad! LOL. he was the one that wanted me filming in the first place, but he gets all squirmy when I film him 😂
Love it! I haven’t seen that done in years! Brings back a lot of memories from when my late ex father in law had cattle. It sure takes the family together to get the job done! Thanks for sharing!
glad you enjoyed! thank you! yes, teamwork is key!
I love your creativity with videos! And way to give me a heart attack over the threat of an oncoming train!! I 'bout couldn't keep watching 🙈😂
lol, I know. I could hardly watch when it was happening. I was sure things weren't going to end well... but thankfully it was a slow train and we got them over well before it came
Y'all need some cowboys and horses, they make it look much easier than using trucks and ATVs! Very cool though, thanks for sharing!
we sure do! kinda hard to have them though when we only do it once or twice a year.
I enjoyed that so much! Got a bit concerned when the train was mentioned though. There looks to be a lot of skill to keeping those cows together and moving in the direction you want them. Thanks for sharing and for making it so interesting to watch with different cameras and superb editing. 🐄🐮🐄🐮🐄🐮🐄
thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed! It was an exciting Day!
Got to love stubborn bull calves.
Then, my heart jumped when the man fell. Poor guy! Good job all!
yes, just a few that won't cooperate!!
That was thrilling! I love their accent, too. I laughed so hard at the showdown with that single cow!
glad you enjoyed! (: Yes, the guys especially have a real twang, 😂
Wow! What a job that must be to move the cows especially when you’ve got at least 1 that’s stubborn! 🐮😂 And the accents? Oh my heart I could listen to your family and friends talk all day long! 🥰
that's halarious. And here I want to get rid of my accent! thanks for watching!
Great video! Those things have minds of their own, don’t they? 🤣 looks like a lot of patience and hard work. Really enjoyed the music as well. 😊
yes, they sure do! Thank you!
I loved this video, thank you for sharing. Beautiful photography.
thank you!
Did I detect a couple Irish accents in there?? Awesome video, felt like I was one of the gang..LOL!!
glad you enjoyed! No, just PA dutch. We don't have Irish in us that I know of.
I love your laughter. Laughter lifts us up. Be safe today & every day. God's Blessings to all.
thank you, and God bless!
Now that's what I call a modern roundup. Eddy Arnold's song Cattle Call was running through my mind as I watched the men try to keep the cattle going in the right direction. My heart was leaping though as they crossed the tracks...I expected that old train to come around the bend any moment. Thank you so much for sharing this video with us and I especially liked hearing Home on the Range in Pennsylvania Dutch. I like the other song also, but it was not familiar to me. I was also wondering if you were also teaching Zander to speak German...or will you do so when he is a bit older? Have a Blessed day and thank you again for this amazing video.
yes, it was! Trust me, I was sure I was going to see a catasrophe, but thankfully the train was slow in coming... and, I do believe that cattle would've scattered and not been hit, just hard to get back together. No, we aren't teaching Xander. My husband doesn't know it, and it comes a bit harder for me since I don't speak it every day like I used to. So trying to teach him would look a bit large to me. (:
@@theMennoniteMom I was just curious.
LOVED THIS! Makes me think me great times of staying at my Uncle and Aunt's Farm, on my summers from school, during my teenage yrs.
A great video and I could understand the lyrics of the song😁👍.
Greetings from Germany👋
I was curious if any German folk would understand (:
Head 'em up! Move 'em out! Loved the drone shots. This was really fun to watch. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful life with us. God bless you all.
glad you enjoyed! thank you and God bless!
I LOVE living the farm vicariously through your channel! You such a great job - and the music is great😃👍🏻!
thanks so much!
A journey with you here feels like a journey by myself. Loved this trip.
glad you enjoyed!
Looks like lots of hard work but fun too. Great videos. And team work! Thanks for the hard work you put into your videos. See y'all next time 💙
you're welcome! so glad you enjoy them!
Every prey animal figures out that being a maverick means there is always something out there you're not going to outrun so you might as well stop, look around, figure out where the herd is and join them!🤪 Great aerial sweeps with the cattle coming up and that heart- stopping train keeping pace on its run, safely in the background!
Lol, good one! You have me a laugh! Have a great day!
Love your channel you always make me smile God bless you and your sweet family I mailed you a package and I forgot to put a card in there for you you should be receiving it within a few days it's just something little for you and your little sweet boy.
Wow, thank you so so much! You are very kind! We will look forward to it! God bless you!
wow what a MARVELIOUS roundup.... I have to say though, I was WORRIED that a train would come while the cows were on the tracks.. This was AMAZING to watch and to see everyone work together to get those cows moved was exceptional..... I have never seen such team work in my life I don't think.. I really did enjoy this video.. wow.. And what BEAUTIFUL property.. wow....May God continue to bless ALL OF YOU... wow..
thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I really love watching the whole process, myself! Blessings to you!
Very cool! I felt like I was a kid again on a field trip. I love the drone shots. You have amazing editing skills and the ability to make people smile.
thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, they must have been pretty far away. That was a great shot with the cows in the front and the train, rolling past, in the background. Great job to the Cowboys and Cowgirls!
thanks! Yes, I was pretty happy with that! Glad we beat the train!
Oh I understood that song where they moved them from the old to the new farm. It is satisfying to watch an accomplishment.
that's great!
What a blood-pumping, heart-stopping, chopped-breathing, belly-bobbing video! Wow!!!
😂😂😂 glad I could give you a little adrenaline rush!
As a former farm girl now living in the country, I loved every minute of this!!! Cattle sure have a mind of their own!! How many head is there?
And y'all have such a PA accent!! I have Ringler relatives in Ephrata area and they sound just like that! The Dutch singing....👌🤣
lol, yes we are pure dutch. I've tried so hard to get away from it and never can! LOL. I'm not sure on the amount, a few 100 I think were moved and my dad has probably around 1000 head all together
I love the peppy song, the tune, even the language I don’t understand!
This was amazing to watch!! And your editing skills were incredible. I am so happy to see videos from our favorite part of the country. We were born and raised near Lancaster and will be retiring there next year. These videos make me smile so much!
thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed and best of wishes on your retirement! sounds lovely!
That was a fun and exciting video! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing! Loved that *drone footage.
thank you
Hi, I am German. I understood the "Dutch" Song very well. Love your channel. Subscribed. May God bless you all. Greetings from Bavaria/Germany.
that's super interesting! (: welcome to our channel! honored to have you here!
Hello there from Ohio I watch Lynette Yoders channel and she mentions your channel and I’ve been watching your videos and falling in love with your little boy and of course your family this video is just like wow really cool I enjoyed it so much. You’re so down to earth I’ve been enjoying watching your other videos too!
welcome! so honored to have you here! thanks for following our journey!
wow. Love it! So awesome to watch. Love that you use the drone on some of the footage. Good Job!!!!
thanks so much!
Very interesting! And yay for John Schmidt! 😉 👌🏻
LOL, yup!
Very interesting process. Thanks for sharing.
Ahhh!! I’m so glad I went back and watched us as my week has been so busy! That was absolutely fascinating… Better than any TV show or movie I could’ve watched!
why thanks so much!
That was so cool! So much work! I had no idea.
they only do once or so a year
This video had me on the edge of my seat!! How fun!!
glad you enjoyed!
Great Video. Blessings from Alberta Canada ❤
thank you! Hello to the great north! (:
I loved the timing of receiving an email from you as I watch this video
that's interesting! I've often been curious how far PA dutch has strayed from it's German roots. Hugs to you!
@@theMennoniteMom I think it varies... This song lyrics werde very understandable whereas I have seen documentaries where people speak PA dutch and I didn't understand a word. I once saw a documentary on the life of a group of Hutterites and they spoke a very fluent German... but then again I have no idea if they also come from PA Dutch...
I tried to listen to the songs. Ok, I'm from Southern Germany and had a friend from Ostfriesland, a language near to English/Dutch, and would have located the dialect somewehere there: Northwest-Germany-Netherlands.
What a great video! From one daughter to another, don’t listen to your father. Get him on video, just be more discrete to make him comfortable. We have these cute kids, nieces, nephews ( they are irresistible to film and photograph) and we get busy and take our parents for granted. I have a few videos of my Dad, but not a lot and he is gone now. Much love from one daughter to another.💞
thank you for that! I was thinking about that the other day... I don't have nearly as many of him and my mom as I should... like you said above... the children usually get filmed! Plus, my dad always got all shifty in videos. 😂 but he was the one that really wanted me to video and made sure to plan the round up on a day I could be there. So I decided he better be willing to be in it! LOL
You are truly creative in all aspects of your videos.
thank you so much!
Wow! What an interesting video! Totally different than my normal life. :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow...I never had any idea it was that much work to move a herd. Amazing.😊
yes, back east here where the herds aren't used to being moved. Out west, probably not so much.
Gotta love those quads!
Another great & different vlog. Love them!💟
thank you!
Wonderful video, I grew up a farmers daughter so it brought back memories, a lot of hard work too
thank you! glad you enjoyed! yes, it is hard work!
I grew up among farmers kids at school K-12. To this day I love the fragrance of manure and moo with best of them!
😀 yeeessss!!!
I like the Dutch song! Been awhile since I heard it.
Your so funny, love watching your videos, never stop being your joy forth to the world
thank you so much for the encouragement!
So fun to see, and to see your family.
glad you enjoyed!
Ich bin ah deutsch un ah auf g’voxa auf die bauerei. I love the camaraderie of the whole family working together.
Wonderful...I guess gone are the days of using horses...that stray cow was looking for the kitchen with a the train coming ...lol
lol, it sure was! horses don't make sense for us... because we wouldn't use them enough to keep them trained well. but horses would've been great in this situation!
@@theMennoniteMom Thank you...I understand...
This was a great video! The family team work is amazing! Thank you for sharing!
thank you!
@@theMennoniteMom Also, I wanted you to know that the way you and your husband explain religion/beliefs/history behind it......so eye opening ( I do not follow any conventional religion). I've been in this world 30 years and have never heard it explained that way. I have a profound respect for you and your family and community. Thank you you for the educational experience! You are doing great things!
I like your choices of music John schmidt
thanks! (:
Thank's for "The Farmer Run" Sweetie - I can use that against teasing my fiace's brothers. 😂😂😂👍
lol, you bet!
Beautiful farm
Good to see you.look like you had fun😀See you in the next video🤗
sure thing! Thank you!
There is always exciting things going on at the farm. iIcannot tell you how much I enjoyed this. The topper was hearing the cow moo ! How many cows are there that had to move ? I was getting scared when I heard the whistle of the train so happy the cows & men made it safely across>How often do you have to move them? Thanks again for making my day Have a blessed week ( Judy )
glad you enjoyed. My dad just started doing this, so probably no more than once or twice a year. They have now got in touch with the railroad, so next time they will know the train schedule and can alert them on what we are doing. I'm not sure how many were in that herd.... a few 100 maybe? Dad has around 1000 head I believe
@@theMennoniteMom oh my stars 1,000 cows great scot that is a lot. !!
@@Judy122550 lol, yes. Its my dad's livelihood
That was the coolest video ever ( not sure why I was so fascinated lol) thank you so much for sharing
glad you enjoyed! I thought most wouldn't (:
Horses! Easier driving and control. And dogs. That was a long drive. Glad it went well.
Thank you - very fun - just wondered who the young man was who ran behind the hurd - he could be in the olympics!😃
LOL, he is a hired hand. Yes, poor guy was doing a lot of running. (: He prefers not to be on camera, so I tried to keep him in the distance.
Great video! Enjoyed it!! 😉
Talk about getting the heart rate up......I was all drawn up, with that train a coming 😰 glad it all ended well!😀
lol, yes it was a bit scary!
What a fun video!! I am assuming these are beef cattle? I miss my summers spent on my Aunt's farm, I learned so many things!
you are right! Straight from our farms to your burger! 😂
i love the song beautiful
thank you
Oops, somebody fell!! Hope they’re alright!!
Great team work! 👍😁
I would soooo love if you would do a video on your the Pennsylvania Dutch language...how it came about, some cute little phrases to learn...I just love the accents that they have in these videos. Its not quite German right? I wish I knew more....its the coolest!! I've noticed less and less are using it? Why is that you think?
I may have to take you up on that sometime! Thanks for the suggestion! Yes, it does seem to be slowly fading out in some areas, but I think it will be a long time. The reason being, we live in an English society. Many kids grow up marrying people that speak only English and don't keep it going in our children. Like myself. So yes... it has a german roots, but it's not quite as gutteral as german (:
the last time it was like gravy nice and smooth lol not this time hugsssss from Ontario Canada
yes, last time there was a trail in the snow they followed...
That looks like fun!
yes, it was!
In the UK we have Collie dogs. They are used for rounding up sheep, but there are larger ones that are used for cattle.
yes, they do that here as well. My dad just doesn't do this often enough to keep a dog trained. (:
Very interesting
I love this video
Lol Uncle Elam😂👌
Hey! LOL. someone who knows Uncle Elam 😂👍
Reminds me of the video I saw called: kunlning cows.
will have to check it out!
loved this one 😉
thanks, girl! (:
Love your videos !!!!
thanks!
Hey! Great video yet again!! 😊❤️ I call everyone farmer _____ as well 😂 I’m just wondering if you ended up finishing the bathroom in the camper yet or?
thank you! Yes, we are installing the commode in the bathroom. Actually, almost everything is done. Another two weeks and I hope to have it wrapped up. maybe then I'll have more time to sit down and catch up on editing. Sorry to keep you waiting!
this video, and the other one, made me nervous. glad it worked out, and that the train did not come. ☺ is this done just in the spring?
my dad just started doing it... they actually had a chat with the railroad police that gave them a number to call so we can know the train schedule and let them know when we are moving cattle... so from here on out, it won't be so scary! (:
Hello, I was just wondering, what state are you from... if you don’t mind me asking. Such a cool video. Thanks for sharing!!
sure thing! we are from PA.
Head em up, move em out, 😀
you got it! 😊
Thank you if never seen this done before I Love it
glad you enjoyed!
Oh I love it! 😍
thanks!
I enjoyed this! What state do you live in? -Kristina
thanks! We live in PA
This video had me chewing my nails!!
I see the ladies dress similar in dresses and with caps, do the men have a standard of dressing or traditional clothes them are to wear? Just curious. I like the drone footage that was cool seeing them moving from above.
thanks. This question comes up a good bit. Basically the short answer, women's fashion is what continually changes, faster than men's. The working man has practically looked the same for the past 100 plus years. Women wore full length dresses for 100's and 100's of years, but in the last 60 or so that has completely changed. We've decided to stick with more of a traditional dress... and because of today's society, we look more different then the men, simply because men's clothes just don't change all that much.
I can only pray to one day at least a fraction of the size of your Dad's land. I would be happy in 1 acre lol
yes, it is very nice and I'm super blessed to have been raised there!
What's that song called? The german (i guess Pennsylvania Dutch) one. I'm Austrian and it sounded a lot like our volk songs
Die alt Bauerei by John Schmidt
Look like you guys need a couple of good cattle dogs.
this is very true!
Home, home on the range...
😘
Why did they have to be moved?
I'm not 100 percent sure this time... they are on pasture over at the first time when they are young, and then brought over to the feed lot to finish fattening them up...
