I disagree. I'm not a great swimmer, but I go on pretty much every water slide/ride. I know a lot of people that can't actually swim and whenever they're on holiday, they go to water parks all the time.
Show me anywhere in any water park that states you have to be an amazing swimmer to be able to go. You won't be able to I can assure you. There are tonnes of people that go to water parks that can't swim or can't swim amazingly well. Put it this way, when we went to Blizzard Beach (with 2 people that can't swim), one of the non-swimmers said that he couldn't swim and asked a lifeguard if this would be ok and he said that it was absolutely fine as they have lots of people that can't swim that enjoy the park and that they're trained for this anyway. Also, come on now, I could probably count on one hand a number of rides across 10 water parks that are dangerous for a non-swimmer to go on.
Wet n Wild was an amazing water park, but this is much better, it was worth the pain of them demolishing wet n wild to make this even more amazing water park.
This is why I stopped going to things on opening day. I used to allllll the time! I remember doing the first Wizarding World opening (longest. day. ever.) and while it was a Potterhead's dream come true, the waits were absolutely mind boggling and nothing worked! I waited 4 hours for the Hogwarts forbidden journey ride and while I was on it it broke down 7 time. SEVEN. What on earth. And I tried again for the Diagon Alley opening but when I had gotten there they already stopped the line. There were way too many people trying to get opening day. So overall it's a unique experience but in my opinion not really worth it when nothing works and waits are too long. Anyways, I'll be going to both Pandora and Volcano Bay after the summer once school starts again ;)

What an incredible place. The Theming is awesome. just detail and the Tapu Tapu system is very cool. A shame about the issues and not having everything ready, but it is what it is. I do hope they do things to keep it fresh. But then again, most of the visitors are just Casual every now and then maybe once a year park visitors. Thank you so much Tim & Jenn!

Legoland Waterpark has a rule about no GoPros or lose things on their slides. Some guards don't enforce it as much, as we filmed a lot of the legoland water slides with our boys. Or maybe people hide the smaller cameras better at times.

It could be a safety issue too, such as the raft bouncing or you falling on the drop slide and the camera hitting you in the face somehow. They dont want to be liable for you knocking a tooth out on a ride with a camera.
I’ve been to Volcano Bay twice now and I still haven’t rode everything but the atmosphere and food are better than average and the Aqua Coaster is awesome. Great park.
Very retro!! Colors and Tiki Kitsch remind me of the 50s and early 60s styles used in places like LA Googie Architecture, Wildwood Crest, NJ and the 64-65 New York World's Fair!!! May have to sneak away from WDW to visit Volcano Bay this summer!!!!
My friend went there and he said...It was laughably the worst experience ever. My favorite part was that we were there five hours before the park closed and there were no available attractions. There are no standby queues, so you either have to purchase Express Pass or have reserved a return time, which is complimentary. However the complimentary return times are extremely limited so once they're gone, the ride is considered "full." We had no options at all aside from the lazy river and the wave pool. The line for Guest Services was incredibly long- probably because they were processing all kinds of refunds. The construction isn't even finished. There are temporary barriers, construction walls, nails on the ground, exposed wires, scrap pieces of wood, etc. The place is a mess.
I'm sorry, is no one allowed to say anything negative about their experience? This is how Volcano Bay improves because every park, even your sacred Universal, has room for improvement.

Volcano Bay is a fantastic themed park and Tim is so correct that the food is way better than any other park. Their burgers are very delicious and the tapu tapu is a very genuine convenient way to stay in tune with enjoying the park. I love this park a lot and can’t wait to return on my next visit.
The lazy river that requires the lifejacket is the fast/deep river. The slow moving shallow one wasn't open when we went, but it doesn't require a lifejacket.

hi tim, it was nice to meet you in person :-) (guy from belgium in the toilets) i have bee there thursday and friday, and i am going again tomorrow and monday. reason for going back? caude the rides are awsome! sadly tho ... the park lacks a finished look, where many lightning or theming stuff still need to happen.. the lazy river (including the cave as seen in commercial with the lightning) wasnt finished at all and the czve was dark with barely any light te be found. Taputapu sadly needs great improvements to make it an enjoyable visit for everyone.. for example we tapped in for ohno-slide, taputapu told us that the waitline was 240 mins! eventually it took us 1h30 min, but once we we ready to go, we still had to wait an additional 40 min at the queline at the attraction itself.. However i have faith that they will fix the problems as time goes by. Its more a shout out to people who were planning to go right now.
kinda disappointed in volcano bay, i thought wet n wild had a better selection of rides for someone of every age, where as i feel volcano bay is mainly focused on young kids.
it had its hit and misses, i will say that. Ill give it a few months before i go back. my biggest gripe was the checking in to rides with the wristbands, some of the waits were over an hour, i think one had a two hour wait time and realizing you couldnt ride anything else until you rode the ride you checked into. I can see that system causing havoc come middle of summer when this place is packed. my only other small issue, was the fact that your forced to wear uncomfortable life jackets in 3 feet deep water for the lazy river. we rode two rides, the rest of the time we were forced to walk around and wait just to ride them. i like the idea of a "fast pass" wristband, but it shouldnt be mandatory in my opinion. Give people the option to check in and come back or the option to stand in a regular line.

TapuTapu is still being worked out. Once it's working properly, it'll be a good system. I don't see why fans of one park have to detest stuff another park is doing. The guests benefit from whatever is being done regardless.
The park opened earlier than it should have to be honest, but once TapuTapu is working properly it will make for a better experience. And what's better: waiting 5 hours in a line or waiting 5 hours and being able to do other activities in the park? Disney has used ideas from Universal and Universal has used ideas from Disney.
WorldOfExcitementE But universal couldn't survive without Disney. And a good amount of workers from Disney want to universal parks so there's that. Not a competition, if it were then numbers don't lie. Disney dominates every day of the year with sales and attendance.

Objection here! Ok, I Understand that OH THE PARKS BEEN OPEN FOR TWO DAYS (Three if counting the Media day) AND THE TAPU TAPU SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. Its works just fine, but what they have to do is seriously improve the band in some ways like the ride system, It works but it could be better I will admit that. So before saying "Tapu Tapu ride system is terrible and needs to go!" Give it a chance, It's literally Only a couple days old let them attempt to fix it and improve the Ride System. Next year if it's still working the way it is now I will agree that this system has to get out of here. Universal has a good rep for fixing stuff like this so I have some belief it will work right very soon!
Luis Flores you can only check in to one ride at a time and all of the slides were over an hour wait when I was there. It completely defeats the purpose of the wristbands

My two park pass expired a few weeks ago and I didn't want to renew it. My friend Tj West was there at the grand opening ceremony yesterday. For my graduation present from college, I chose to receive a free ticket to Volcano Bay for grand opening. I stayed from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm. Unfortunately, due to the fact that I got there so late yesterday, I barely got to do anything at all. I agree with you on the fearless river thing and I also ate lunch at the same exact restaurant as you! I wonder how many people accidentally put their Taipu Taipu on backward besides you and me?

why make a lazy river that you have to be on a tube? Sometimes I have so much fun walking along with the flow and trying to float on my own.

I was able to do it. It was not an issue for me.

Nintendofan7 the smaller the go pro's get, the harder it will be for places like universal to enforce rules about no go pro's.
I've seen other videos of Volcano Bay where they were told that they could film on the rides using a GoPro.

I think they are afraid the cameras will mess up the slide if the person doesn't have full control of the camera.

200 minutes is not worth it for a water park. You can ride any of those rides at a local waterpark and will only have to wait 5 minutes.

Taputapu sadly needs great improvements to make it an enjoyable visit for everyone.. for example we tapped in for ohno-slide, taputapu told us that the waitline was 240 mins! eventually it took us 1h30 min, but once we we ready to go, we still had to wait an additional 40 min at the queline at the attraction itself.. However i have faith that they will fix the problems as time goes by. Its more a shout out to people who were planning to go right now.
kinda disappointed in volcano bay, i thought wet n wild had a better selection of rides for someone of every age, where as i feel volcano bay is mainly focused on young kids.

it had its hit and misses, i will say that. Ill give it a few months before i go back.
my biggest gripe was the checking in to rides with the wristbands, some of the waits were over an hour, i think one had a two hour wait time and realizing you couldnt ride anything else until you rode the ride you checked into. I can see that system causing havoc come middle of summer when this place is packed.
my only other small issue, was the fact that your forced to wear uncomfortable life jackets in 3 feet deep water for the lazy river.
we rode two rides, the rest of the time we were forced to walk around and wait just to ride them.
i like the idea of a "fast pass" wristband, but it shouldnt be mandatory in my opinion. Give people the option to check in and come back or the option to stand in a regular line.
Uk when I can never go to these places I just wacth videos of people going and haveing fun just makes makes me feel good for them 😢😭

When ever we go somewhere that requires us to be there longer than 3 hours and we can't get a dog sitter one of us has to stay home with Bandit.

Sandra Whitham Disney was not the first to do something like that. And to be fair, Disney has copied Universal's ideas in the past.
TapuTapu is still being worked out. Once it's working properly, it'll be a good system. I don't see why fans of one park have to detest stuff another park is doing. The guests benefit from whatever is being done regardless.
The park opened earlier than it should have to be honest, but once TapuTapu is working properly it will make for a better experience. And what's better: waiting 5 hours in a line or waiting 5 hours and being able to do other activities in the park? Disney has used ideas from Universal and Universal has used ideas from Disney.

WorldOfExcitementE But universal couldn't survive without Disney. And a good amount of workers from Disney want to universal parks so there's that. Not a competition, if it were then numbers don't lie. Disney dominates every day of the year with sales and attendance.

Objection here! Ok, I Understand that OH THE PARKS BEEN OPEN FOR TWO DAYS (Three if counting the Media day) AND THE TAPU TAPU SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. Its works just fine, but what they have to do is seriously improve the band in some ways like the ride system, It works but it could be better I will admit that. So before saying "Tapu Tapu ride system is terrible and needs to go!" Give it a chance, It's literally Only a couple days old let them attempt to fix it and improve the Ride System. Next year if it's still working the way it is now I will agree that this system has to get out of here. Universal has a good rep for fixing stuff like this so I have some belief it will work right very soon!
Luis Flores you can only check in to one ride at a time and all of the slides were over an hour wait when I was there. It completely defeats the purpose of the wristbands

Dude, I really wish I could have met you yesterday! Glad you had a great time! That was beast of you to stay up from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm yesterday. My two park pass expired a few weeks ago and I didn't want to renew it. My friend Tj West was there at the grand opening ceremony yesterday. For my graduation present from college, I chose to receive a free ticket to Volcano Bay for grand opening. I stayed from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm. Unfortunately, due to the fact that I got there so late yesterday, I barely got to do anything at all. I agree with you on the fearless river thing and I also ate lunch at the same exact restaurant as you! I wonder how many people accidentally put their Taipu Taipu on backward besides you and me?
