I was at this game with my wife. Since then she has passed. This was one of our greatest memories. It's been 7 years and I still remember every second of that day.
Jay Alford was a monster early in his career with the Giants too. As a rookie was part of that dominant front 4 that suffocated Brady and spoiled the Pats undefeated season in 07.
Paul Poslauszny played in the NFL? Gee, didn't know that. I never heard of him until I played NCAA Football 06 for the 2019 season. He is in the game, but is not allowed to have his likeness in the game.
it's funny you should mention that because this game and season is a perfect example of when a guy should know when to retire and leave on top(like osborne in nebraska or dean smith at unc or pete sampras winning the u.s. open im his finale or barry sanders in 1998), paterno could have had the storybook ending with the 11 win season, the orange bowl victory, the electric atmosphere of the crowd cheering him on and then ease into the sunset, but dude had to keep on and on and on, and well you know what went down 6 years later.
MITCHELL ALVAREZ I guess he wanted one more shot at a national title because the 05 season helped erase doubt from critics that the game had passed him by and that he was outdated as a head coach. The 08 team looked like they were on their way to a national title until the Iowa game and they just got destroyed in the Rose Bowl by Southern Cal and the next year after beating LSU in the Florida Citrus Bowl it would have been another great time for him to walk away but idk. That Orange Bowl win against Florida State was one of the best games ever played though.
Allen Greene definitely, 2 legendary coaches at the twilight of their runs(him and bowden) as crazy as this sounds, i actually liked that orange bowl game as much as the national title game between usc and texas that year
2005 was the year Penn State experience a big turnaround that season. They were a joke in 2003 and 2004, but 2005, Penn State went from a joke to an incredibly awesome team.
I watched from my living room but could hear the stadium from close to five miles away. It took a long time to figure out what the noise was until I realized it coincided with the action in the game.
Very special night. Probably my all time favorite penn state game. Had more meaning than what people think. Tell you what this game at my house was bigger than any super bowl or bowl game. Psu vs osu is big for my family being raised as penn state fans in Columbus Ohio .
I was only in middle school (12 years old) when they played this game and it definitely left an impression on me and one I will never forget. At the time I didn't really even follow college football that much but I remember all the talk in school and hype about this game that year. I also remember how much of an adrenaline rush it was watching it. I distinctly remember (at 12 years old) wishing so bad I was a college student in State College to experience that atmosphere that night; at that time I had never been to a PSU game. Then just 6 years after that (2011) I became freshman at PSU. But this particular game against OSU is one that still sticks with me (even to this day) because it left so much of an impression that I remembered it all through my high school years leading up to my acceptance letter from PSU and I couldn't wait to be able to go to PSU games as a student because of it.
Cool man. I also started following Penn St. during their great mid-90s seasons (when I was in middle school myself). I was at this 17-10 game with a group of about 12 dudes, maybe 5 rows above the "S". I remember cell phones were overloaded before the gates opened but I was able to find the group right before we went in. It was like a crowded stockyard trying to get from under the stands up to the bleachers, and we took this opportunity to start many chants that then echoed around us. We snuck in a couple Miller High Lifes and passed them around at kickoff. Everyone was super psyched despite the cold drizzly weather. A memory for the ages.
Been going to games for 25 years, this was by far and away the best game ever played in beaver stadium. Not one fan of any age sat down the entire game. I remember coming to the game at noon and my cell phone didn’t work about 10 miles from the stadium because there were so many people in the area. I got onto the field after the game, and took a big chunk of field with my. Still have it 13 years later. Section EH, ROW 26,seat 18.
8:48 probably the loudest I facer ever heard beaver stadium. Best gamer i've been too. The alumni stood the entire game, that's how much energy there was, only game i've ever seen that. Stadium was literally shaking on this play.
I was never a PSU fan at all (Temple undergrad/ND executive program) but found myself rooting like hell this 2005 October night for the Nittany Lions. I probably disliked Ohio State more going back to the Cooper days and as a 1-AA/FCS fan I found Jim Tressel far more likeable at Youngstown State. The fact that PSU took down OSU this night was great. If only Notre Dame was able to beat them a couple of months later in Fiesta Bowl... I had just sat outside to watch Lehigh-Holy Cross in the same rainstorm that afternoon. In fact, I think the Lehigh Valley got considerably more rain than the State College area. The grass turf at Lehigh's Goodman Stadium was literally covered in standing water.
@XFactoration101 Era? This was a season after we had 4 losing seasons within a 5 year span and since this season, we had back to back 11 win seasons for the first time in a long time at Penn State.
9:30 You cannot convince me Joe Pa was in control of that team at this point in his career. His assistants were calling the shots. Joe just had to walk the sidelines confidently.
One thing about the great Paterno teams - like Joe said at the end of this game - they played solid football and didn't turn the ball over. The 2016 Big Ten Championship season was a wild one. PSU overcame sloppy play in several games by making big plays on offense.
With all that has transpired, I wish he would have walked after this season. It crushes my heart, such a tragedy. Tell me it ain't so Joe I thought would only apply to baseball.
crazy the amount of future NFL players on both teams in this game.
I was at this game with my wife. Since then she has passed. This was one of our greatest memories. It's been 7 years and I still remember every second of that day.
All the warmth through that chilly drizzle. Sorry for your loss.
Paul Poslauszny and Tamba Hali. Two of the greatest linebackers in the NFL today!? That was a hell of a defense
That penn state defense that year was one of the best in college football history in my opinion.
Jay Alford was a monster early in his career with the Giants too. As a rookie was part of that dominant front 4 that suffocated Brady and spoiled the Pats undefeated season in 07.
@@lainiwakura4678 Jay's a hilarious dude too. Best Paterno-era celebrations lol. :)
Paul Poslauszny played in the NFL? Gee, didn't know that. I never heard of him until I played NCAA Football 06 for the 2019 season. He is in the game, but is not allowed to have his likeness in the game.
That front 7 is the reason they're a top 3 PSU defense. The 86 PSU defense was even better.
I love seeing Ohio State lose. I can't stand Jim Tressel or Urban Meyer. I can't stand the Buckeyes.
That was the loudest Penn State game I've ever been too.
Finally a video where you see comments about Football and not about the Penn State scandal.
it's funny you should mention that because this game and season is a perfect example of when a guy should know when to retire and leave on top(like osborne in nebraska or dean smith at unc or pete sampras winning the u.s. open im his finale or barry sanders in 1998), paterno could have had the storybook ending with the 11 win season, the orange bowl victory, the electric atmosphere of the crowd cheering him on and then ease into the sunset, but dude had to keep on and on and on, and well you know what went down 6 years later.

MITCHELL ALVAREZ Yeah it was enjoyable.
You do realize you just reopened that can of worms XD
2005 was the year Penn State experience a big turnaround that season. They were a joke in 2003 and 2004, but 2005, Penn State went from a joke to an incredibly awesome team.
It was so magical in the stadium that night. I will never forget this wonderful night. ELECTRIC
Sure was. Very special night
yep and the defense closed the deal unlike the 2018 game.
"that's the best student section in the country"
There will never be another posluszny
parsons in 2 years
I was at this game as a senior. I will never forget the sounds and emotion from that night. Go State!
I was at that game as well. It was the loudest Penn State game I"ve ever been too. I sat write next to the student section.
I watched from my living room but could hear the stadium from close to five miles away. It took a long time to figure out what the noise was until I realized it coincided with the action in the game.
To think this season was 1 second away from being undefeated, still irks me. Lloyd Carr bitching to the refs like always.
Yup that afternoon on Fall break. Never forget M-Rob's 4th down run, score ... and then the end. Still a legendary season :).
Let's go 24-21 October 22, 2016!
I wonder how many times Penn State has beaten Ohio State since this comment was posted

Hard to believe it was 17 years ago: a lifetime
troy smith was in hell but kept battling. warrior.
I miss seeing PSU teams play with this much confidence and swag. Straight up ballers, not stars on paper.
I know right. Seems the change happened around 2011...
Yeah now they choke in the 4th quarter under Franklin.
That defensive front 7 was fast, smart and relentless.
I know right. They were the ones who let the linebackers shine. All around great unit.
@@GreenRiver72 to an extent. You can also say that the linebackers also let the D line flourish as well.
@@GreenRiver72 the linebackers are a part of the front 7. 4 D lineman and 3 linebackers are the front 7.
The Linebackers in this game were incredible
on both sides
One time I ask God 🙏 in Heaven? Who's your favorite player of all time? He ansuerd ! And told me? 🧸 Teddy Ginn!!!!!!!!! Go Buckeye's!!!!!!
Weird that he never gave Teddy a national title, then.

Look forward to this EXACT same atmosphere next Saturday 10/27/12. The NCAA sanctions Bowl!
This is the best football game I ever remember watching. The NCAA says it never happened.
No they didn't. Sandusky wasn't the DC in 05.
8:48 probably the loudest I facer ever heard beaver stadium. Best gamer i've been too. The alumni stood the entire game, that's how much energy there was, only game i've ever seen that. Stadium was literally shaking on this play.
What a great night. We still are penn state
God bless Joe Pa!!!!!! My all time fav and a great man!!!! Justice for Joe!!!
Yes, it’s too bad the child rapist protector never faced any real justice. But at least he’s dead with a lot of his wins vacated.
Was a great night. Watching game with my dad and brother. Couldn’t wait until Monday to rub this win in all over the city of Columbus 🤣🤣🤣🤣
that is so true the 2005 team was one of the best at ohio state in the last 10 to 15 years
I would love to see this era of penn state again
That was a great night! Only the next week we lost to Michigan on the last second play.
That's awesome. This was the first Penn State football game I ever watched... I haven't missed one since.
Is that McQueary at 9:07?
How about a 2006 Orange Bowl vs Florida St vid...
I'll never forget that. M-Rob during post game dedicating the season to Coach Paterno. What a class act, miss them both.
"Posluzki" herp derp
Just imagine this OSU offensive roster under Urban or Day……
15 years..so much has changed...PSU down..OSU up.
PSU deserves to be down for decades.
The closing speed at 1:05 is nuts.
I know, this was his game. Paul had several sprints like that through the night - perfect angle, pro-level speed. All was right at Linebacker U.
Nope we still call it Paternoville.
Which reflects how disgusting most PSU fans are.
Gave up my ticket to go run the Steamtown Marathon in Scranton. Hotel TV didn't work so I had to listen to it on the radio.
Does anyone have this whole game. I'm 36, and only got to see the tail end of this game 14 years ago. I was a server in college and missed this one.

Yeah man, Allentown airport recorded 8.71" rain that day, holy moly.
If only Penn State had won against Ohio State this year, would've been crazy :( Oh well, there's always next season
Kirk said that the rafters were shaking in the press box!!! Lol
@XFactoration101 Era? This was a season after we had 4 losing seasons within a 5 year span and since this season, we had back to back 11 win seasons for the first time in a long time at Penn State.
Holly's smile at 9:30 - puts everything in perspective :)
Jimmy Franks has this program trending the right direction.
Even God loves Penn State ---- he made the sky blue and white!
And sent a child rapist protector to be your best coach ever!
yes it is, he is a coach does that surprise you that he'd been standing on the sideline
9:30 You cannot convince me Joe Pa was in control of that team at this point in his career. His assistants were calling the shots. Joe just had to walk the sidelines confidently.
2:54, it was recovered by Penn State! GO PSU!
2005 or 2016 ? I think 2016 because I didn't go to 2005

Have ever*
GO PSU!
im so sorry J train
@allpeeps4me lmao
This woulda been amazing to be at!
Jenna Keith was there can confirm it was amazing. Loudest PSU game I ever attended

Funny. according to the record books, this game never happened. In Fact, Penn St hasn't beaten Ohio State since 1997.
Exactly.
Well they gave them those wins back it looks like. 3 game win streak is still pretty good. 2011 is the last time Penn St. beat Ohio St.
logitech9
They actually reversed this since I commented so they got this and all their other wins back.
+Nickster585858 Honestly who cares about what you and the courrpt NCAA says?? the game happened.
chill guys, I already said the NCAA gave them their wins back in a comment.
Sandusky nation!
Also was a pedophile piece of shit.
Holy shit the partying after... Beautiful
the comparisons of this game and the game that happened this year are insane
