- www.linebacker-... -- In the second game of the 2008 season, the 19th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions, boasting 29 wins and three bowl victories in three seasons, played host to the Oregon State Beavers, who themselves were coming off 19 wins and two bowl victories in two seasons. Led by first year starters quarterback Daryll Clark and running back Evan Royster, the Lions rolled to a 45-14 victory, on their way to the 2008 Big Ten Championship and an 11-2 record. The Beavers would recover from the loss, defeated No. 1 USC the very next week, and finished the year ranked No. 24 with nine wins.
Still enjoying watching these in 2020. This was a fun team to watch game to be at. We had a great tailgate with a bunch of very nice Oregon State fans. Hmm, there's gotta be a "Lion next to your Beaver" joke in there somewhere.
To this day...I don't understand why D. Clark never went to the NFL

Make money and provide for family?
I remember this game. I also remember that if UCLA would've beaten USC on the final day of the regular season, Penn State would've faced Oregon State instead of USC in the Rose Bowl since Oregon State defeated USC that same year. Might've been a different result and possible victory for the Nittany Lions.
Yeah the Beavers really turned it on in the 2nd half of the season and were a totally different team
Joe Paterno, rocking the whale tie. Boss.
damn i miss this team
I cant belive Oregon State beat usc
The Beavs were actually a good team in 08. They just took a few games to figure that out
Blue Royster Cült!
@nfranken25 This year's team is a lot like the 2004 team with great defense and putrid offense but I think with the conference not as strong as it was in 2004 and the potential for the offense to grow on Saturday if they have a big enough lead to practice all second half, we'll see some improvement.
Why in the hell Darrell Clark isnt playing in the NFL???
it's almost as if bill o'brien is running this offense.
oh wait. it's jaypa?
number 36 from OSU from 2:16 til about 2:21 haha
@LMCMInterloper They're not snarky when they're true.
go psu!
@nfranken25 I think if the team uses it as an opportunity to grow we could end up with some surprise upsets late in the year. I think Penn State has the tools to shut down Ohio State and Nebraska, but I see Wisconsin as a definite loss at this point. If all goes best case scenario, we could be looking at a 10-2 season. But for that to seem plausible I guess I gotta drink tons of blue and white kool-aid.
That title is a lie
