I don't care what the NCAA says. I saw this game with my own eyes, and nothing they say can tell me this game or Larry Johnson's other-worldly 2002 season never happened. It did.
Zach Mills was an underrated quarterback and with a better supporting cast after this year, could’ve had an even better career. He wasn’t the kind of QB that was going to do a whole bunch of things with nothing around him. He could make plays, move around and distribute the ball well, but he needed playmakers. In ‘03 and ‘04, PSU didn’t have any weapons like they did in ‘02. Mills got hammered every game, took a serious beating every week. Got KO’d a time or two. Every week he strapped it up and came out and battled. He finished his career with two straight wins that helped catapult the team into ‘05 where they finished 3rd in the nation. Finished his career with a ton of records at PSU. I remember an interview he did with Penn State radio announcer Steve Jones after his last game. Jones had very kind words for him and I just remember Mills saying “Thanks, Mr. Jones.” So respectful. Always was a class act. A true Penn Stater.
This was the 1st game I went to at Beaver Stadium, and this cemented me as a PSU fan for life, eventually went to school there. What an upset. What a year LJ had. What a QB Mills was. That was a perfect night, loved every second of it.
@MrAc157 From my perspective, as a PSU fan, we're incredibly excited to have you guys back! I would certainly hope there won't be any of that behavior going on, it should be a great game between two great teams!
Who knew that Michael Robinson a backup Quarterback in this game and later be the stater, would be drafted by the 49ers and be converted to fullback and now has a Superbowl ring with the Seahawks???
Um thats not uncommon to have Dual Threat college QBs change positions in the NFL. The REAL surprise here is Larry Johnson being our DL coach now after being the ONE clean "Institution" at Penn State and never offered the slighest shot at being their Head coach
As a Nebraska fan, I remember being infuriated with our defensive coordinator. He refused to match up DeJuan Groce, our best corner, against the other team's best receivers, stating that moving them from the left to right side of the field, or vice versa, would mess up their technique. As such, guys like Bryant Johnson, Roy Williams, and Rashaun Woods completely destroyed us. Our DC was fired after this 2002 season. Shocking.
I was at this game, 3rd row behind the PSU bench on the Southside 40 yrd line... Had 2 Nebraska fans sitting next to me, they left at Half time! What an amazing night! My best memory of ANY PSU game Ive attended, and there have been MANY! Thanks for posting!
A friend gave me two tickets to this game at the last minute...great seats on the 45 yard line about 88 rows up. I remember the insanely loud "WE ARE...PENN STATE" bouncing from one side of the stadium & back. I remember standing for 95% of the game & a record crowd that stood for quite a while. There was so much crowd energy & electricity...my neck hairs were also standing up for most of the game. One hell of a total domination of a very good Nebraska team. It was Blue-White.Football Heaven!!
@robr2004 it very well could be, you probably know this by now, but Nebraska is going to be our out of division rival as we'll play them every year. It is a shame that some of the rivalries that were permanent are discontinued like the MSU-PSU rivalry.
@robr2004 True, but 'scoreboard' usually means 'Look at the scoreboard - it still says we beat you the last time we played,' so we will have scoreboard for more than 8 years. I think it'll be a great game come 11/12 out in Happy Valley. Go Big Red!
Frank Solich should have been fired after this blowout. There was very little creativity and no defensive adjustments. Penn State threw screens, delayed run plays and play action all evening. The game with Miami showed cracks and flaws in the program and many thought it was due to talent differential. This game showed that Solich and this staff were not right for this job. Nebraska was actually the more talented team yet were blown out due to a lack of preperation, complacency, inability to adjust and the lack of creativity.
Hadn’t played Nebraska there in a while, rarely did night games at beaver stadium at this point, plus they knew we were about to stick it to Nebraska as the Home underdog
@MrAc157 I grew up in State College and I doubt seriously that happened, or I would have heard about it. From time-to-time students do stupid things at any university, Penn State is no exception. But I'm pretty sure my relatives would have said something about that because just like in Lincoln, PSU pride and PSU tradition runs deep. And disrespecting the visiting team is something JoePa will not countenance. I saw him call a time out when students threw snow balls at a game once, and he chewed
Respond to this video...their butts good for being stupid and endangering the other team. So I'd be surprised if that really happened. And if it did, I can assure you that the majority of PSU fans would jump all over any idiots who pulled a move like that. Our real fans realize that you should treat the visiting team like you'd like to be treated PSU is the visiting team. What goes around comes around.
@dougalmac54 Black shirts? PSU's offense schooled 'em so bad they were the black and blue shirts with paw prints all up and down their backs. Complete and utter domination by Penn State. Classic Husker Fail!
@cornfednebraskaneer Please corn-fed homeboy. 40-7 is a far cry from 18-10. Yes a win by one point is still a win. But our "D" ripped your Huskers wide open in this game, especially the Richard Gardner INT for aTD. And our "O" ran up and down on your black shirts all day long. If you're any kind of good sport, you'll give us our due on this one. Just like I give you your due when Big Red ripped us in the kick-off classic in '83 44-6.
@cornfednebraskaneer 2003 was one of our worst teams of all time and you only beat them by 8. Using the term "scoreboard" isn't really all that flattering in your case. Northwestern AT HOME beat us by more that year.
I don't care what the NCAA says. I saw this game with my own eyes, and nothing they say can tell me this game or Larry Johnson's other-worldly 2002 season never happened. It did.
Got those wins back!
That was a beautiful game. I'm so happy I was in the crowd that night. So much energy. So emotional.

Preach it my guy! Zach Mills on a T-Shirt is what made me fall in love with Penn State
This was the 1st game I went to at Beaver Stadium, and this cemented me as a PSU fan for life, eventually went to school there. What an upset. What a year LJ had. What a QB Mills was. That was a perfect night, loved every second of it.
do you remember 2005 ohio state vs penn state that was awesome too then they won the orange bowl vs florida state
Kirk Boo What do you think of the direction your team is headed now?
@MrAc157 From my perspective, as a PSU fan, we're incredibly excited to have you guys back! I would certainly hope there won't be any of that behavior going on, it should be a great game between two great teams!
The loudest crowd I have ever been a part of at a sporting event was this game.
Same here…it was unreal. Nebraska has no answer for it. They looked scared almost the entire night. Incredible experience to be there.
That crowd is unreal. What a night!

Joe did. He told Robinson he would be a pro bowl fullback, but Robinson really wanted to be a qb. So, joe let him.
I'm not even a PSU fan, Maize n' Blue for me. With that said, love your videos and love how you fit key moments within 10 minutes. Great job

An absolutely stunning smack down of the Huskers by Penn State. Glorious. Justice for the BS national championship Nebraska was handed in 1994.

At what point in the game did Richie incognito get ejected?

This is how Penn State got those recruits in 2005. Signature win!
"You can't handle our Johnsons." ©2002
"The quarterback stumbled and fell out of bounds!" Lmao
"I am wearing a tie today!"
"The field is green!"
Man it was fun! Excellent PSU Team!
johnson was a really good back for psu. tough night for us but we have won the last two since then. hopefully your fans are nicer by now...
@robr2004 it very well could be, you probably know this by now, but Nebraska is going to be our out of division rival as we'll play them every year. It is a shame that some of the rivalries that were permanent are discontinued like the MSU-PSU rivalry.
How does Kimballs tackle not make this highlight show?
you guys were given a gift last week pal!
@robr2004 True, but 'scoreboard' usually means 'Look at the scoreboard - it still says we beat you the last time we played,' so we will have scoreboard for more than 8 years. I think it'll be a great game come 11/12 out in Happy Valley. Go Big Red!
2005 against Ohio st was the loudest I was at followed by 2016 vs Ohio st. but this was a close 3rd..
hells yeah! chills every time i watch it
Soon to be a major rivalry can't wait :)

amen frank
@Baldgol4 how would anyone know the answere to this question
Was there great game
What was so special about that night that they broke an attendance record
Hadn’t played Nebraska there in a while, rarely did night games at beaver stadium at this point, plus they knew we were about to stick it to Nebraska as the Home underdog
@NittanyNation22 A W is a W.
mchugh smash! haha love it!
go psu!
WTF happened to us after that game?
Is Nebraska going to tear Penn State apart this season?
Hard for a D2 to tear anyone apart.
those nebraska unis were terrible...im glad they switched back

But covering up and condoning pedophilia, sodomy, and raping is A-ok with JoePa!!!!
@@1USACitizen192 You're full of hate and shit.

Larry Johnson ‘02 > Saquon Barkley
@dougalmac54 Blah Blah Blah. Scoreboard.
No 2003 Penn State vs. Nebraska? Figures. Nittany Lion Fail.
How have you folks been doing lately?
0:41, 0:55, 1:06, 2:16, 4:08, 4:29, 4:49, 5:30, 6:40, 7:08, 8:08, 8:35 HAHA yeah you clowns were really "National Title" material! You and Nebraska are both jokes!
lmao according to the gay NCAA this game never happened
