Personal gear preferences aside, you guys probably provide the most information, the best demonstrations, and typically the best audio on all of your reviews and demonstrations on the Internet! The GK talk box, norm Stockton, and all of his "sparkle" doesn't even give as thorough of a rundown as you guys did; nice job gents. Always look forward to your reviews.
So much cheaper than buying the actual heads....with this one you've got a bunch of GKs, then Sansamp for an SVT....and you get others as you see fit from Orange, and other brands. Modelers really are the future
This is by far the most complete preamp for bass out there. Tuner, compressor, FX LOOP (to my knowledge only this unit and le bass has it), eq, drive, pre & post, HIGH CUT, and more. Damn it has an amp modeler with voice knob but I wish it had the cab simulation. But if it had that it would be game over.
would have preferred a passive bass sample with this preamp. The active bass with built in preamp makes hearing the difference harder. still a good review as usual.
..nice review, except you totally misunderstood the pressing down function of the buttons. It does not work as a switch function changing the function of the knob when you turn it, but just by pressing it it activates a certain mode/preset, which you cannot alter with the knob. The one thing i am missing on this pedal is the BLEND (!) of the overdrive...
Would of been nice to of heard what it does with a passive bass and single coils. I find a big part of the market is people with passive basses look for a preamp instead of rewiring their basses with an active pre
hello guys, thanks for your demo, it's great, I see people believe it's a site to tell their material and besides reviews to have material that doesn't exist, thank you for this demo and this pedal looks great with the properties it has! otherwise we don't buy it! 😁
Great vid guys. Good to see this thing get some quality air time! On the product itself... It looks and sounds great, but I'm left wondering why manufacturers don't put preset functionality into these kinds of devices?! Drives me crazy to have to fiddle with a digital pedal, mid-set or even mid-song, to get a different tone that could have easily been programmed and saved in advance. Even a handful of preset slots would be cool.
Yes it has an aux in and headphones out. So it's an awesome swiss army preamp. It can also be used as an interface and there's also amp simulations that really works well on the headphones. Not to mention the compression and the usable EQ for your liking and a tuner to go with it. It's a straight A 💯 preamp. Love it!
Although I might be wrong but it looks like turning the drive knob does not actually change the amount of drive but volume of driven signal only... I personally don’t hear any changes of saturation. The mid cut filters seems to be working additionally to the main eq. So switching -8db or -12db mode on and then turning the knob to maximum setting means actually compensation of lacking mid frequencies :) nevertheless cool review, thank you guys
I suppose you can just plug headphones in that without monitors? I'm rather new to preamps stuff. I want something that will be like an amp without the speaker.
When I think of GK I think of Duff Mckagan and Flea, maybe for future demos you guys could look up who uses the products and play a bit in the style of them?
F0dd3r I know, I'm a super fan boy :P I got a tc corona chorus mini and downloaded his tone print, I basically want to be him. But back in the day he did use GK. If you were doing a 'sounds like' for Duff, would you go GK or Fender?
Yeah whenever I see GK I always think of Duff. I have a Corona LE and put his tone print on too :D Love Duff's sound. I saw an 80's Japanese J bass Special on reverb not too long ago and I am still kicking myself to this day as to why I didn't buy it.
Excellent playing during the demo and excellent playing, but could you use a couple of different basses for the next video? Maybe a Jazz, a Precision and something with active humbuckers?
(((Only_ZuuL)))) Along with any other switchable settings (eg distortion). I have yet to see demo that combines settings, though. I'd like to hear that as well.
Todd Russell cool thanks. i didn't end up buying the GK. instead, i went for a joemeek floor Q comp and a zoom MS60B...joemeek floor Q is damn fine comp if you haven't tried it, check it out do a review. with that thing i could happily go bass->comp->preamp->powered cab.
MIDS & TREBLE! MIDS & TREBLE is all I heard! Where's the low end ? It sounded like a ukulele with 4 steel D strings played with a 2 pence coin! And all that overdrive!😱😖 You guys have pesented sooo many great and informative videos over the years.....This was not one of them
I admire GK for trying to develop a completely new and innovative product. Unfortunately, it's a complete fail. No bypass switch. Doesn't even have an on/off switch. I was hoping to use this as a D.I. in a recording studio, guess what those bright lights on the knobs are always on...I have to unplug the damn power supply all the time. The compressor might be good enough for live situations but in the studio is not really helping. Also, the drive settings are basically completely fixed 1-5 as shown in the demo. Turning the drive knob doesn't add more drive, it's just for level matching with your clean sound. Same comment about the added functions on the EQ section. Turning the dial has nothing to do with the function. Another rather annoying fact about the Plex, it was supposed to ship with cab sim, but that feature got yanked. They have gone through 3 rounds of firmware releases already and people are still having issues...Just my personal opinion of course...
I just find there's a particular lack of romance when your amp is the same size of your shoe, concocted of tiny stacked pots and buttons digitally changing how I sound. Very clever, but just not for me.

Finally GK comes out with one I love collecting amp in a boxes

skip to 8:40 if youre like me and want to hear the overdrive sound
Hoshi Hearts You da real mvp
Thank you, sir.
The "Yeah" jar is priceless.
Funding for the next company party is secure.
I bought one used 2 years ago just for testing : it's now in my pedal-board and it's my main preamp !
would have preferred a passive bass sample with this preamp. The active bass with built in preamp makes hearing the difference harder. still a good review as usual.

GK OH GK. your voice will always stick in my ears. 👍😍

Not sure if the point comes across when you press the presence but also boost the treble at the same time.
I want GK to make guitar amps again. I loved mine.

Please do some more gallian krueger reviews
This is so complete !
Can this be used with just headphones as a practice amp at night?
Yes it has an aux in and headphones out. So it's an awesome swiss army preamp. It can also be used as an interface and there's also amp simulations that really works well on the headphones. Not to mention the compression and the usable EQ for your liking and a tuner to go with it. It's a straight A 💯 preamp. Love it!

HAHAHAHAHAHA The "Yeah" jar!! :D
Great video guys. I was wondering, what were you using to monitor with? You mention a full range PA speaker, but didn't say what it was. Cheers!
How about using 4-cable method?
When I think of GK I think of Duff Mckagan and Flea, maybe for future demos you guys could look up who uses the products and play a bit in the style of them?
Huw Griffin Duff uses Fender amps now :)

These reviews are always like having a drink with the boys while going to a music store.

Nice but it will not make me give up on my Fusion 550...
Pleeeeaaaassseee do a sounds like AVENGED SEVENFOLD...PLEASE!
Buzzy buzzy fret buzz
so you can switch on the comp and use it with the EQ simultaneously?
(((Only_ZuuL)))) Along with any other switchable settings (eg distortion). I have yet to see demo that combines settings, though. I'd like to hear that as well.

It would take 6 years to figure out how to use it all

Almost lost me at bril
I mean, it didn’t sound all that good. Very much lacking low end, just sounded kinda weird.
