Finishing Touches & Sewing in Signatures with a Hidden Spine!

- Welcome back to part 5 of creating a Dephemerember journal for my dear friend, Luise Heinzl! Today, we’re diving back in to finish up journal page layers and we’ll be sewing the signatures into the cover trying out Luise’s binding technique!
Cover Measurements: 24 cm tall x 37 cm long (9 1/2 inches tall x 14 1/2 inches). We have 4 signatures with 5 folded A4 papers, plus 2 smaller pieces per signature.

Very nice! This is my 100th time of watching how to bind signatures (or in this case install them onto a hidden spine). No, I can never be bored with that, still enjoying it 😊. 24:00 Takeaway #1 -- to secure template to pages with masking tape before pocking through. 29:00 Takeaway # 2 to use one-thread-for-binding-multiple-signatures method with only EVEN number of holes.

I like the new dephemerember coffee cups. We also need a coffee cup or something that says "Brayed Furlap" on it. 😊
Or take a lot of the other words like brayed furlap that were funny and or fun and make a with all of those words or have people sent in words and make a mug with those

Sewing in signatures always gives me anxiety 😆. I have tried Louise's method and it works well but i adapt it. I love that you tried it. There is never enough gold splatters in a JJ.

I have watched both videos and love both of your journals! I know for me that the long threads for the spine make me crazy, not that I've made many journals. Both of these are just beautiful!
Nice try sewing in signatures. I only use the method you are accustomed to, but thanks for the even number of holes tip! There is alot of embossing and gold splatters, but the colour theme handles it well. That is so 49Dragonflies style!! Love the candy apple red, a very vibrant hello there colour!!❤ nicely done!!😊

Place a thin foam mat under your texture pages to compensate for uneven surface and stamp away! LOL These are beautiful journal pages, so fun. I think I would be making a set of these to keep besides the one to give.

I think I like the one thread per each signature simply because I am paranoid about making sure my creations (in any medium) are strong and durable. I know Luise is brilliant, I’m just paranoid if the one thread somehow fails the entire journal will fail.
I think using waxed thread is very sturdy; those knots don't slip or come undone.

Hmm..why dont you just cut the thread after you have sewn in the signatures? What i mean is that you just dont do a cut, keep the thread on its spooley and then cut when youre happy with the sewing. Just a thought because you have had issues with the length of your thread once 😂
Hm, I think the spool at the end would annoy me during the process 🙈
Very nice but if you no that she likes a hard journal why do you keep making her a soft journal LOL
