The people who worked on the floors did an incredible job!
You and your husband have assembled an amazing team talented people. Thank you for sharing your journey. ❤
I love the restoration.
The vent things from the roof would be nice as a fountain, but I imagine them as large outdoor lanterns.
At the end/beginning of the driveway! 🙂🐈⬛🐈💖🌈
@@KatyWatson173 I think of the size and do them to onside at both ends. Unless the driveway is very wide, at the beginning.
Thanks, as always, for sharing this journey. For the old vents, maybe a bird bath and/or bird feeder? Or the base of a table with a glass top, maybe in the middle of your cocktail cellar? By the way, your energy level and ability to have a career, parent two toddlers, and deal with this massive project while doing a lot of work yourself is beyond impressive, as is your endless creativity. Much respect to you and your husband.
That school couldn't have gone to better owners. Not only have you restored it, you have modified it faithfully. No big metal boxes and modern design, proper brick and mortar with wood.
That is so incredibly kind of you to say! 🥲
I have to agree whole heartedly. ♥️😊👍
For the two metal roof vents: One idea would be to sandblast them, raise the cones and turn them into unique outdoor lights!
I think it's amazing... restoring memories while making memories at the same time. I'm so glad y'all saved this school!
Keep'm coming!
thank you!!
Thank you so much for sharing your home with us Your home is gorgeous! I have watched from the beginning and have enjoyed every second of it. You have done a fantastic job. I love it.
thank you so much!!
As a former archaeologist, I'd get some self-testing kits for the soil in the areas where the toilets used to be - even dig down about a foot to test below the frost levels or "sunshine line." You might not want to grow any food there, and/or you might want to bring in some extra soil or gravel to make a barrier. Old human waste can be dangerous, even if buried, even if exposed to the sun or that lovely diesel. There are also amendments and biological things you can add to human waste soils to accelerate the demise of harmful bacteria or viruses.
Just remember the grass is always greener where the outhouse was.😂
So what is the guy who excavates old outhouses for their glass bottle treasures going to catch while he works on his channel: Below the plains?

Well I've just learned something new. 😊
What an amazing, historic, fantastic, educational, family home.
I have so enjoyed the restoration of this school into your home. I am a retired teacher in my 70s. I went to a similiar brick school bulit in the late 1880s. It still school used as a city pre school. You have done a remarkable job!
thank you so much!!
Hey school house update! WOW!!! Amazing and beautiful floors! Omg I love black and white photos from the past. How nostalgic…
Just wow. What a fabulous fabulous job you have done. You have such vision.I can imagine what a fantastic family life you will have in this wonderful building. Hello from New Zealand.
Incredible transformation! so much history and new ones to make here on out. So excited for you 💖
Wow! What a wonderful transformation of a school which was lost. Your family and all those who have been working with have created an amazing home. The vision you and your husband imagined has come true. May God continue to bless your family. Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
you have been very lucky with the trades you found, they all seem to be very skilled.
such an amazing restoration.
oh and how stinkin' cute are your kids!!!!
It is just so incredible to see you LIVING in the school!!!
I love watching these videos! The school has come a long way. I can't wait to see what flowers you select for your pollinators garden
Your schoolhouse home looks amazing! Well done to you and your family and all of the businesses that helped you get where you are. Nicely done! I hope that you continue to share your adventures.
You have put a lot of love in your home. I just love how Arlo got to help. Thank you for bringing us along.
That old school really terned into a gem for a home! It's so beautiful. Looking forward to seeing all the pictures in those frames. Also looking forward to new upcoming videos! Much love from Wisconsin ❤
thank you so much!!
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love what you guys are doing with the old schoolhouse. Keeping the history alive while incorporating your own style to what is your home. Kudos!
I love this story so much. thank you for saving this school. It has turned out so beautiful!!
The old vents look to like nice indirect lights to mark the entrance of your driveway.
oh someone else said lights too but as little entrance markers that is amazing!!
The original floors are so beautiful ❤️ the new floors too,i just love the character the old floors have. The flooring crew did a beautiful job with the entire project, new, and old are both stunning!
Amazing place for cousins to play. You are blessed.
They've got a lot of cousins for sure.
Oh oh oh a school house video. Make my day
You are very lucky to find such great workers. Congratulations and greetings from Switzerland
Love the new channel name! I can't believe I missed that. It's fitting now that you've ❤🎉😊"turned" the corner. (You see what I did there? You went from "Turning A School Into Our House" to your lovely new home.)
thank you!!!!
Your kids are so blessed!
Your home is absolutely stunning thank you from Scotland
Loving following this restoration. What a brilliant job you have done. Congratulations ❤
What joy your story has given me! The hard work had to be as much fun as it was problematic, but the HISTORY of the place is absolutely magnificent! I applaud you for your courage, personal good cheer and perseverance in taking this project on! I hope that eventually you will edit everything together and have complete DVDs for us to buy! Carry on, dear ones!
What a remarkable thing to do for your family (and your community!) Wonderful♥️
Absolutely beautiful floors. Everything is very nice.
Beautiful and amazing! The school that my grandmother, mother, dad and myself attended was razed a few years ago. It was so sad. They auctioned off the contents before tearing it down and my dad bought the school bell. So glad you saved that jewel!
I have original wood floors on my first level-second level to the Americans-in my French home. It was built around 1870. I have loved watching your videos. My mom was just here visiting and we watched a ton of them together. She went to a one room school house in NW Missouri. I have her school desk! Also- love that your little girl has your smile! 😊
Beautiful Home!
When our 3 children were teenagers, we totally renovated 3 very old, unique homes. It was so much fun. We removed 7 layers of vinyl-type floors in one of the houses & got to the beautiful wood floors - had them refinished & they were gorgeous!! We all really enjoyed seeing these homes look great & smell great 😉 again. Our son & his roommate lived in one through college since it was close to campus - great memories of it all. That's brilliant that y'all used the drone to show the amazing floors!! Love love love your videos!! God bless y'all. 🙏♥️👍🌟
What you've accomplished so far is impressive !!!
For the rooftop air vents - I would take the pointy top off and place a wooden or glass top to make cocktail tables for either your cellar or your roof deck.
I l8ve what you done to this old school. What's amazing is that building survived the 70s and 80s of the demolition of these buildings.
Thank you so much for the amazing video. I do appreciate it. 🌻😊
The floors are spectacular. The wood positively glows!
Well done.
Dave and Micah are the best!!
This is just amazing thanks for sharing this all with us
Thank you!!
Such a labor of love! Beautiful!!😘😘😘
thank you!!
Your children are precious! Love all the work you have done to beautify this old school. Wow! Sorry we didn't get a chance to see the floor joists before the floors were done. Oh well. Maybe I just missed out on it. Very curious to know how they looked.
Unbelievably beautiful, the condition of the school when you first started renovating it, to now its like imagining the Phenix arising from the flames. I hope you show us how you're going to decorate it for the holidays, Christmas is going to be stunning.
I'm in the process of building a wood woodworking shop with living quarters. This gives me some comprehension of how massive this restoration is. WOW what an amazing transformation. 👍💖
I love these updates!
It's so beautiful!!! So happy you saved that old school. BTW, I'm GREEN with envy.❤❤❤
fountain sounds wonderful :)
YAAAAAAY, an update!!! You've completed such incredible and beautiful work. You've turned a beautifully historic school house into a gorgeous mansion. The spirits must be so happy. I can't wait to see how you decorate for Christmas.
maybe next year on going all out for Christmas, there is so much to do lol
@@Schoolhousehomestead Completely understand. I can wait a year!
Fantastic watching this series. I LOVE THIS FAMILY.
For the kids hall on the concrete area, have you thought about a floor to ceiling built in bookcase, you could fill it with 2nd hand kids books (Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Boxcar Children, Tricia Belsen, Black Stallion, etc), reference tools (encyclopedia, thesaurus, etc), and other classical literature.
You've done an amazing job!
I immediately thought of a birdbath for the two vents that you saved. Don’t know if that’s possible, but it certainly would be unique and I’m sure the birdies would appreciate it. Enjoyed hearing about your renovations!!
This was definitely a labor of love and appreciation for the original aesthetics. It's so impressive and stunning! From a fellow Hoosier near Moorseville.
Love these updates. Please keep sharing your journey with us 😊😊
You've got so much awesome space for a food forest!
Drove by today and right away, and I noticed the nearly finished garage and the seeded yard. 😊 It looks amazing on the outside! I love how you edited your video for today with video of all the hard work mixed in with the fabulous end results! Congratulations on your restoration of a beautiful home!
These are just so much fun to follow. Love your project.
Oh my it's so beautiful! Thre guys did a wonderful job on the floors. They're gorgeous. 🧡💛🧡
They really did, so thankful we found them!
Thank you for bringing the old school house back to life! You all did a fabulous job. I enjoyed the video journey. ❤❤❤🎉😊
Make birdbaths out of those things in your barn that were on the roof. Those would be beautiful as birdbath. Water could trickle down from the point on top, down the sloped sides, to the bath on the bottom with the sides that have the round ridge.
Absolutely awesome you have done a wonderful job of restoring an preserving a piece of history may you have many many wonderful years together with your family there, and make so many beautiful memories
Great progress!!
Congratulations on this exceptional job you have done on the old school house, it sad that the ex pupils could not see what you have done, as I thinknthey would have approved, best regards from Australia, Les
I would use the vents as planters on each side of an entry to a garde arch and plant them with hanging vines.
You are going to love Polywood outdoor furniture. I’ve had mine since 2016 it still looks like brand new. It holds up year round, it doesn’t blow over in the wind 💨
I'm really excited, and I had no idea they make their stuff in Indiana!!
What a wonderful family and restoration of your schome (school/home)! I am now inspired to purchase an old schoolhouse or, a church and get to renovating! KUDOS to you and the crews who worked on this project. I am thoroughly jealous! Enjoy!
Love all of the details you were able to save and restore or repurpose
This is looking so good. Great work and patience.
You have been blessed to find artist that have been able to help you to bring back the beauty of the old school. As someone who has remodeled an old home it is not for those that want a quick and easy way. They don’t make real 2x4’s anymore and nothing new fits! Replacing baseboards with something like was there is almost impossible.
Seriously!! And when you do find some that could possibly match they are so expensive.
Amazing transformation ❤
I would leave the air vents as is, maybe coat them to stop any more deterioration. I'd put them in your future garden, frogs/toads would love to make them home. You have done a beautiful job restoring the school.
Absolutely beautiful.
I'm really enjoying watching your videos. Thank you for taking the time to make them, it sounds like you have a lot of other things you need to be doing.
Next project is the basement, one could be a cool play room for the kids for the winter months and restore the original bathroom in the basement
Oh we 1000% need a playroom!
Wow, what a phenomenal idea and endeavour. It looks spectacular congratulations
I love your channel!
thank you so much!!
BEAUTIFUL!
Your house is like a gift that keeps on giving. Very nice to see the craftsmen at work with all the wood, the floors are superb 👌
You also have a great family, your kid's comments on the floor " no more dirty " ... hilarious 😅
Did i miss you showing your 100k subs RUclips plaque ??
Please keep on showing us more 👍
P.s. : maybe make a nice woodworking shop in that barn ? Woodworking is awesome, you can be very creative and by the looks of it you have a lot of wood lying around ...
I haven't shown the plaque yet but I should!! And right now we've got a little workshop in the basement but would love to move it out there once we evict the critter in the barn lol.
Can’t wait to hear about your garage project!
Absolutely fantastic job on your place, my hat comes off to you. 👍
Just ❤ watching all the updates - you guys did such an incredible job- enjoy and make tons of beautiful memories! Can’t wait for more updates too 😘
What a GREAT VIDEO!! I somehow lost you because I haven't seen you for a long time. I need to go back and see what I missed. I loved seeing your kids (your precious little girl has your curly hair). I hope you show them more often. The floor are gorgeous. You have it all!! Love love love your channel!!!
thank you so much!!
Absolutely beautiful floors!!!
Very beatuiful remodel. I am in love with this school.
Such a cool building!!
I love the color and variations in your floors
How about painting the cement floor segment? No, not just one flat paint but a mural or sign of some sort, homage to the school house (or to the barn it once was)? Your project is terrific and I've been following you for some time. Caps off to your industry, creativity, and tenacity at restoring as much as possible. Your littles will always be able to tell the story of "I grew up in an old school house."
I have enjoyed every second of every video and your new home is amazing.
Beautiful.
Two large roof vents - Maybe make one a water feature & one a fire feature?
The school house looks amazing!
-Fellow Hooaier
What a great video!! 🎉🎉🎉
I immediately thought high-top table for the garage deck! Of course the caps would have to come off??! Then add glass or plexy tops so you can see the works underneath.
We love out polywood bench. It has been durable and cleans up well
Your home looks amazing!
I had a lot of problems with the flat roof on a prior home. It looks like your roof has a slant to it and that is good to see.
