No worries, I have not stopped the Unique Unit series nor have I forgotten the "very friendly intro" sub-special. Both will be the next upload (and its already 90% done!). Make sure to watch the 50 Gold song GAMBESON linked in the end and in the description!!!
I think the reason for no shield-related tech in barrack is that infantry upgrades to using two-handed swords without shields, and the devs simply cannot undo this design made 25 years ago.
I'd like if Hauberk gave +2/+1 armor, I don't see much of a reason for Cavalier to become this resistant to archers off of a tech specialized against melee attacks
I 100% agree with you that Gambesons should give Melee armour and Kyteshields should give European civs P armour. Ugh I need Civ appropriate castles and eventually Civ appropriate units (Skins) for each civ. It’s good to have an Infantry buff. But Aztech and Japanese should NOT get gambeson, or Samuri+Jaguar warriors should benefit from gambesons as well. We want to see more UU infantry play, not less. Rather give the Britons gambeson to facilitate an incentive to use something else alongside your archers.
Despite not being buffed directly, I think we will see more Jaguars, just because infantry becomes more viable. The Samurai though won't get much love, I'm afraid
Im not sure if im remembering this correctly. Did a number of messo civilizations create a way, to make even more efficient gamebsons? I have a memory of hearing about aztec or mayan or incas drenching their gamebsons in water with an extreme concentration of salt. After drying out the pads, the salt would crystalize inside of the fiber strands on an microscopic level and increase their ability to absorb or deflect damage. Its been over 13 years since i remember hearing that, and i cant remember from where or who or what source.
@@dontspikemydrink9382 oh indeed. It was off in some places in the old re-used part, which I didn't check (I shouldn't have trusted my past me). Thanks for pointing out
"Thank you, nerd"
You really showed that guy
a nerd and bald on top. what a shame
The devs need to watch your videos :)
Yes please. But overall I'm happy that they prioritized balancing over accuracy...Sometimes though just a name change would be enough to do justice

I knew I had heard about gambesons somewhere before. Turns out it was here.
I've gotta rub it into the dev's face
Brilliant analysis! Your assessment is spot-on as always (in this goober's opinion).
There wasn't too much one could be wrong about in this short one (i hope...)
My opponent did this tech and now all my co is gone :(

fair point
Hmm I think my bf needs one for winter. Jacke und Schutz zugleich😬
Schutz against pinching

And with that analogy Gambeson would be a +1/0 tech

Yep you are right:) you are talking about the Aztec Ichcahuipilli there
Does gambeson fit time-wise into castle age?
rather Feudal Age
@@armchairsaurus did they invent horses in the feudal age too?
@@dontspikemydrink9382 you know, a whole lot has been forgotten after AoE 1
can you please recheck the subs? they don't really match with what you say
