    I love inorganic chemistry. Carbon can go to hell. It already is, since it has 6 protons 6 neutrons and 6 electrons. 666? coincidence? I think not!

      Exactly haha! Inorganic chem is a much wider domain. It studies all the elements rather than just one. I think it’s the “truer” chemistry.

    The first C6 rotation of the snowflake didn't rotate the snowflake at all. The letters shifted 60º but the snowflake didn't rotate. The same thing happens with the third and fifth C6 rotations

    In the proper rotations minute 17 was mentioned that the molecule could have n or zero C2 rotations. if the molecule is in the Cartesian plane z-axis coming off the board that will be our principal axis C6. Now, for the C2s there could be 6 on the X-axis, what about the y-axis? which it also has one C2. that one is also perpendicular to the principal axis. however, if the teacher meant to say that C2 are only those perpendicular to the principal plane. the Y-axis will be parallel. need help thank you for the videos...

      Symmetrical properties of molecules can help dictate where certain reactions can occur - this can also tell the stability of a molecule. Benzene for example has a number of symmetrical properties that allow it to attach with functional groups and sacrifice minimal stability. This topic also can relate to topics like chiral centers (found in organic chemistry lectures). Hope this helps.

    It would be very simple to write some basic computer graphic animations that actually showed the various operations. Much better than these static overheads.

    • @sidewaysfcs0718
      @sidewaysfcs0718 8 лет назад +6

      +Tony Danis actually it proven that regardless of the mechanism as long as the information showed is equivalent, it doesn't really matter, if anything, this makes your brain work more to understand the operations, which means you will learn it better.
      having everything spoon-fed to you will not always help you in life.

    • @tonydanis1480
      @tonydanis1480 8 лет назад +2

      +sidewaysfcs0718 No, if MIT and Stanford are going with the graphics, I think that's the right path to go. No self-respecting scientist today would not use 3-d active imaging for molecular modelling, etc. This is a sub-average presentation.
      As for spoon-feeding, I disagree. I don't know what I'd do without my servants.
