You gave birth to a very bright and beautiful child with an incredible memory. I must say you are wonderful parents and MaryCarl is one fortunate child to have parents like you two.
I gave birth to 5 babies.2 familys..yrs between some of the kids. I also raised Cockitels...hand fed the babes at 2 weeks old. I never had a female that talked, only males.
I had a cockatiel and it would do the wolf call and whistle most of Andy Griffith. He also would repeat lots of words
Oh my word, it’s 2:30am in the UK. I was laughing so hard my husband nudged me and told me to stop laughing as I was shaking the bed 😂😂 that poop story was the best ❤️

We had a quaker parrot that came to us from the wild in Florida. She may have been discarded by the previous owner. She loved my husband dearly and despised me. My husband was always trying to get her to make up to me.
One day I was stretched out in the recliner and he put her on my lap. She ran right up and latched on to my lower lip, drawing blood and wouldn't let go. Earl slapped her off me.She landed back in my lap and wasn't moving. My husband started to cry. I picked her up and checked her out and said, "She isn't hurt, she's just stunned. Tuck her in your shirt and keep her warm and she will come round soon."
She was just fine in a few minutes but I warned my husband that if he EVER tried that again he would be waking up in the corner of the room after I knocked him out.
Sounds familiar... Except my Quaker didn't care for my husband or anyone else for that matter. He cracked me up. He would go across the back of the couch, so he could get onto the end table..... Why???? I had a pic of my husband of that table. He would go to that picture and peck like crazy. It was hilarious. I didn't have to worry about anyone messing with me though. Lol. Yep, he was a mischievous little guy.
I cannot even tell you how much fun that video was to listen to. Honestly when I think of podcast I think of boring people talking about something that doesn’t matter or reading a book, but your podcast made me crack up laughing. I personally don’t know anyone has an accent like yours but I love it and it makes the podcast that much better haha 😂

It's amazing to see such passion in a young child. Birds are amazing animals, we have quite a few ourselves, and each one is different. A lot of kudos go to ya'll as her parents, for helping full her passion and not holding her back. It's awesome to see such supportive parents!

I had two boys at 39 and 41...bc that’s when I met the first person that I trusted enough to raise children with and it was just where we were led by the Creator...(still married 22 years)
the youngest graduated this past year and they have both turned out to be good humans ❤️

I was laughing so hard about the baby fart. I can relate because when a baby farts in a diaper it's so loud and it usually happens when you're in church or in public. I say this has been my favorite podcast so far

I was totally laughing out loud during poop story time. MC is an amazing girl. I have totally enjoyed watching her growing up the past 3 or 4 years.
MaryCarl,I had a Quaker that spoke over 100 sentences, not just words. I loved him dearly. When I got in the shower he would say Time to go to work bye bye.

I just watched this podcast and laughed so hard! I felt like Mrs Coghill walking through Walmart. Marycarl is so intelligent for a girl her age. I have learned so much listening talk about her chickens. I thank God he was there to help you through your birth experience! I have 3 sons, prayed every time for a son as I did not want a daughter. I only wish you could have had the experiences I had. I loved being pregnant, all 3 births were easy. But you got a beautiful , healthy daughter and couldnt ask for more!

The fact that Jason was trying to work during all this is a beautiful example of why people should have family leave for the birth of a baby; paid by the employer. It's not a benefit, it's life. And that would also include the adoption of a baby or child for both parents.
I'm not even a parent, but I can see that it would be such a life-changing time that people need the opportunity to adjust without worrying about income
Yes your so right. Here in Canada we get a full year of maternity leave. And it can be split between the parents 6 months each if you like. Or whatever 60-40,70-30 Or the mother can take it all ,and it's paid leave too.

You all are funny ! I have 7 babies 5 single and one set of twins it's funny listening to first time parents, you all made me cry i was laughing so hard 😂
My mom had a cockatiel she named pretty boy. He knew his name and he would say it all the time. She would have a specific whistle and say his name and he would repeat it. She would put him on her shoulder and walk around and he would stay there even if she walked outside. One day he got spooked and flew off all the way across the street (4 lane highway) into some trees. She stood there and whistled for him and called his name and he flew right back to her. They are amazing birds. We used to raise budgies as well when I was growing up.

I had a Sun Concure I hand raised and he thought I was his momma. I had to be in his eye sight at all times lol. He would make a nest in my hair and take a nap with me. Ive had 9 different breds of birds. I love them!

My boys are Ty & Bo. So together they're Bow-Tie. We didn't realize it until someone said it to us & by that time it was too late. So anyway, our last name is Hunter. We have Bo Hunter, like bow hunter. Oh my Hell, what have we done to these poor kids.

We had a Amazon Yellow nape parrot his name was Captain. He loved my husband hated me although I could teach him to say anything. We had him for 31 years. My husband died and four months later so did the bird.
OMG!! YOU HAVE ME LAUGHING SO HARD, TEARS ARE RUNNING DOWN MY FACE with your bbq story and the pacifier. Brooke, I can relate to your bp problems. I was 36 when I had my first son. I was put on bed rest because my pressure was so high. I went to my stress test by myself and had eaten half a pop tart before I went in for the test. They did not let me leave after the test so I did not have anything or anyone with me. I had to call my husband to get all the stuff for me and our son and bring it to the hospital. I better stop, I'm getting long- winded. There is nothing wrong with being an only child as I am also. Enjoying your podcasts!

I was widowed many years ago when our daughter was 3, so I watch you and think about how our life might have been different -- and Marycarl seems to be a heart centered child like my daughter. I rescued a Normal that was able to talk. When someone knocked on the Door he would say Come in. I also raised Show quality Pieds.

In the early 1900's, a ship sunk in the ocean near Rehoboth Beach, DE. There was a crate of Quaker parrots on board and they escaped. The parrots made nests around town and when power lines went up, they built their nests on power lines along the shore. Their progeny still reside there and you can see them today.

My first husband was playing with my oldest daughter, lifting her up over his head and saying daddy's girl. I kept telling him be careful, I just fed her. He lifted her again and in mid daaa-dy's she vomited right in his mouth! He never played daddy's girl again, until she was older. I laughed until I wet myself!
Same thing with our oldest daughter!! He was a truck driver & before he'd leave for a couple weeks, he'd give her a couple tosses up in the air & love her up and she'd just shriek with laughter. They both just loved it!! I tried to warn him the one time because I'd nursed her while he was getting ready to leave, putting his stuff in the truck, etc & he had the same experience before I could say a word! Funny for me... not so much for him! Sweet, sweet memories tho!
I cannot tell y'all how much I enjoy these podcasts. It's like a weekly visit getting to know new friends, and for once I don't have to do any talking. I've been watching for years and these questions you're answering have often floated to mind. I'm not at all surprised in finding you both to be as genuine below decks as your are above the surface.
