23:40 - 27:55 sums up the brahmastra movie flaw. I felt the exact same as Rohan. We didn't need the power of love in the movie. Just keep it a superhero movie like the Sharukh khan and Mouni Roy scenes. I could have watched the whole SRK and Mouni Roy movie. why all the 40 elder power holders went off the village and didn't take the brahmastra piece with them. brahmastra piece was with bunch of teens, Shiva who have just now learnt their powers and guruji. if those all people were together, they could have fought easily.
"why love drama included" I think our Indian pop culture audience sometimes forget that there have been movies which are far better and interesting yet complex stories came 4m Hollywood for which indian audience did not show that much interest what we expected, so clearly There is something else indian mass audience other than Pop culture indians wants apart from just endgame or dark knight type story. That's drama, we can say Ayan version of drama was old & would definitely worked in past but you cannot be sure that "SRK & Mouni roy scene" type will be enough for our mass Indian audience to entertain. The main struggle for bollywood currently is that it has to cater a vaste dynamic variety of audience & it's taste of entertainment than pretty homogeneous Telugu/tamil audience taste. Many of them are like us but many of them are not like us as well.
I think most of the issues with Brahmastra could have been solved (to an extent) with *significantly* better dialogues, and more focus on fleshing out the basic structures of the story. Even the much maligned love story COULD have been okay. The theme of "love conquering all" is a tried and tested one, especially in fantasy. So I don't mind them rehashing it, but the dialogues (and screenplay) just shat on all of its potential. As I truly believe the themes in Brahmastra were ROCK-SOLID! 1. The idea of a "Chosen One", who is the instance where an astra has manifested in human form- Cool background. 2. This character is scared of his own power, because his only memory of his mother is her burning in an inferno, and he doesn't know if he caused it or not- Awesome conflict! Allows you to bring out the duality of fire. Another tried and tested fantasy theme. 3. His motivation to improve is his urge to protect Isha- Fine. This could have worked, IF they fleshed out the other members of the Brahmansh. Like, I don't know how the other members get to join. What are their motivations for mastering their astra? It could have been something as simple as "A sense of duty towards the Ashram, because they were born into the Brahmansh". But Shiva, who was supposed to, but never entered the Brahmansh, has to find his motivations elsewhere. Hence, Isha. It did not have to be a full-fledged love story. They could have hinted at affection, and fleshed it out more over the remaining two films. All of these ideas are, at worst, okay. At best, they're legitimately cool. But the dialogues, the screenplay, the lack of focus on narrative threads completely ruins the final product. As Rohan said, I'm still excited for Part 2, because all of these things are fixable. I hope, now that they are more well-versed with the VFX process, they can spend more time tightening up the script and not pixel-peeping. The less we talk about the Adipurush teaser, the better.

Adhpurush team should have made it in 2parts where 1st part being story of Ravana showing his childhood with saint father to getting powers from lord shiva, fighting gods and participating in Sita's swayamwar to kidnapping her and also include stories of his brothers and his son mighty Inderjeet.
ROHAN''s first story of this guy reincarnation and seducing chief's daughter is straight out of MAHABHARATA chapter 3. I've recently just started reading it but i didn't enjoy the writing style of it.. but now hearing this story and remembering oh fuckk this was is Mahabharata too.. (it wasn't drones in it.. it was some magican medicine in Mahabharata) I'm again excited to give Mahabharata a read.
I think it’s a systemic issue. There is hardly any infrastructure in any kind of storytelling whether it’s a period piece or VFX heavy Fantasy. There are great examples but it’s the exception rather than the rule.
A big fan of brandon sanderson and mistborn series. He is the only one who has given me some solace since patrick rothfuss got too busy to finish doors of stone!

The thing is every adaptation of ramayan up until this point have been based on Tulsidas's Ramcharitmanas and not on the original Valmiki 's Ramayana. It is preety disappointing.
Little disappointed that my fellow nerd doesn't know about the process of vfx in Bollywood. Its not the vfx artist that needs to blame but the director's lack of vision as the movie clearly is nothing more than a cheap cash grab. Vfx need lot of pre work which have to be done while shooting with the complete involvement of vfx director or team. I doubt after hearing the director's reaction that he even tried to put any effects.

Its also a collective effort and no artist is to blame, they already are doing overtime, underpaid and fucked up their personal lives dedicating to a piece of technology. What do you expect when there is no proper creative supervision, direction and limitation of technology to complete a shot under little time. You see all these names in hollywood movie credits, let me tell you, labour in India is very cheap so big vfx houses outsource their work to India which saves them money. There is so much to tell about this vfx crisis, but cannot be explained like this. This is now also happening with Marvel Studios. Please watch some better stuff about vfx than corridor digital.
