Timeless player. Would’ve fit in any era. Imagine all those long 2s turning into 3s in today’s game
Call me crazy but I can see KG putting up numbers on par with the current back to back MVP Giannis.
Garnett was putting up numbers in a time where interior defense was still strong, spacing was worser, pace was slower, rebounding battles were around, etc.
Garnett was doing everything Giannis was doing except better (especially as a jump shooter). Though I will say Giannis is explosive while KG is smooth.
I can see him easily averaging an efficient 25+ PPG, 15+ RPG and elite all time defense. In fact he’d be a perennial DPOY winner in today’s era.
@@Terror832 they're close to me too and they can guard 1-5 and also play 1-5. Giannis obviously doesn't NEED to get a consistent jumper but I think that's the biggest difference between the two.
The way they love defense just gets me right in the ♥️
Mr. Suhaib defensively I think Garnett is a tad better. He was competing for DPOY in his prime against guys like Ben Wallace, Tim Duncan, Marcus Camby, Andrei Kirilenko and young Dwight Howard. Not as stiff as the 90s but definitely better than today.
I also think Garnett has a far better post game to compliment his superior jump shooting. With the paint so wide open these days it’s like KG would have a field day.
I know this doesn't mean much but if you put him in the current nba on 2k he almost always win mvp or dpoy
@@TellHerNothing thats a legit 😂 and i remember way back 2006 garnet's rating was 99overall for i think 5 years straight i dont remember but he was actually 99
Kevin Garnett is the power forward on my all time starting-5. He could do it all. Apex defender, refined post game, elite athlete, strong perimeter shooter, high motor. And he was a legit 7-footer. Unreal.
And passion and leadership skills
Strong motor is an understatement for KG. He went so hard ever possession every game
I got Oscar, MJ, bird, Kg, Wilt in my all time starting 5
I got Magic, Jordan, Lebron, Duncan, Kareem
@@LucasBernstiel There is no floor spacing in that starting 5 at all and the paint is crowded.
When KG added that 18ft jumper he became like a glitch, glad he got his ring in the end.
Well fucking said bro
Being a PF in the West in the early 2000s was rough.KG,Duncan,Dirk,Webber,Sheed, good lord.
True
and ben wallace
Amar’e too
Daniel H. He’s a 5
Jermaine O’Neal, pau gasol, Antonio mcdysse
Garnett was basically the Michael Jordan of bigs. He had all the post moves Jordan had and was just as good and committed defensively as Jordan was. Plus with his supreme Melanin and bald head he just looked like Jordan. If Jordan was 7 feet that's how he would've played. KG is definitely one of the more underrated MVP's. He was loyal to the Wolves who were a shitty organization and exceeded the odds considering he was a kid fresh outta the trenches in Chicago when it was worse than Chi-raq. Big up to the Big Ticket and yes, I wish this vid was longer but I'm not complaining!
i love that comparison. Never heard anyone say that before and i totally agree
an KD plays like a 7ft Kobe
supreme melanin lol, case closed
So tall but so fast...as fast as a shooting guard.. in a better team ...his career would be awesome.. those fade aways... excelent style
@@guillermovazquez1084 yup...plays like Kobe but looks like mj
Kg was absolutely unguardable whereas he could guard everybody from point guard to center. What a beast!! definitely my favourite player and probably most complete player ever
K.G. carried the timberwolves for about a decade.
Daniel Perkins Giannis In the same boat ! 🤷🏾♂️
Adrian Flores * correction he might be in the same boat
Adrian Flores I hear ya but KG had pieces as well but teams were just better ... Bucks only have Giannis !! I’m sorry but 🤷🏾♂️ these are facts Miami is better, Celtics are better, hell Toronto is better .🤷🏾♂️ he Better ball out in the bubble because if he don’t his chances of winning bucks a ring might not happen because next season is all Brooklyn!!!!!
Adrian Flores true true it is a joke lol ..
But let me ask u a question. was the East a joke when LeBron spent 7 years in Cleveland winning nothing ???
kentucky_boonies lol I love these talks 😌😌😌 the East is a weak conference right ??
Sorry this episode wasn’t longer. Truth is there isn’t much quality footage of KG 04 available. My goal is to produce this series with high quality highlights. But I’d need to work with NBA or ESPN or House of Highlights to make it happen.
MaxaMillion711 it’s okay keep up the good work
Thank you for this and all your work 🙏🏼🙌🏼
Don’t blame yourself dog, as you said, there isn’t much quality in KGs game for this video to be any longer than it is hahahaha, just kidding, great video
MaxaMillion711 its all good dude keep doing what ur doing, this is my favorite hoops page on RUclips
Thank you for these bro....this was a special year for KG, I'm glad you're even trying, his highlight package faded away over the years for some reason.
I remember an interview with KG a while back, he wanted to win so bad. He started tearing up because he was trying so hard to win, he doing everything he could. Crazy passion n competitive spirit.
Idk if my eyes are deceiving me but he legit look like a 7foot MJ
My fav player ever alongside with MJ. He was literally the MJ of big guys - bald head, swag, beautifull post moves, mid range, one of the best defense in history, quickness and that legendary trash talk and competitive nature.
He deserved more than one ring.
He only earned one.. don't matter what you think he deserve.. lmfao. Crazy man
Ray Ray89 I bet you don’t go outside do you
@@Purple-iz1bd you should bet ..lol
We can be glad that he won at least one he's not on the list of the monsters without rings
@ShadowReacts to be fair they were nearing the end of their primes
No one more intense! One of my fav 5--MJ, Bird, KG, AI, Shaq
I like that list, I got MJ then KG.
It’s like every jumper is pure net. It’s like.. absurd how perfect that mid range shot is. Hardly every touches rim, it’s just swish after swish. As a wolves fan I unbiasedly submit 03-04 prime version of KG as the best and most complete 4 to every play.
I was watching him in his prime, he had one of the most shallow angle shots possible but it felt good when it connects
lol I remember the playoffs that season. My Kings faced the Wolves in game 7 of the WC semifinals. Like the day before the game, they interviewed KG and asked him about the game or whatever. I distinctly remember KG looking almost psychotic, like a bezerker before going into battle. He was sooooo pumped up and ready to win no matter how hard it would be. Right then and there, I knew we lost the game...and we did. KG dropped 32 points and 21 rebounds or something crazy. Great player.
You are correct 32 points, 21 rebounds. He also had 4 steals and 5 blocks LMAO.
@@McCullyCullen One of the great performances of all time
Imagine how much better people would say he was if he could’ve turned those 20 footers into 23 footers #stillagoat
I decided to do some reseach of KG during his Timberwolves years…and damn! No wonder he won MVP
He was like one of the first Unicorns.. No other big man in the league had that type of skill at 7ft. Handle, inside and outside game, mobility and he played defense... His mechanics resembles Jordan’s a lot and his fade away was just as deadly..
What a player. .he remainds me the technique of MJ
He learned from MJ and learned how to train like them boys too. MJ is the standard my guy
He’s an all time great but it still feels like he’s underrated
it's cause he was on some dog shit teams for most of his career, should've had way more than one ring
My FAV player of all time. Thank you for doing this 🙏🏽
He's definitely the Power Forward in my all-time starting 5. He had everything. Great post moves, almost automatic mid range jump shot, size, speed, and elite on defense. The total package.
Great passer too
Top 3 PF of all time. People actually said AD was gonna be like him.
Max thanks a lot for this. Kevin Garnett is my favorite player of all time. He can do it all.
Thank you for this x100, I know KG seems crazy or corny to people, but please know he was once a freak pterodactyl looking to kill and not just the broken down old guy screening and shooting 20 footers like the way kids talk about him. 1st player I ever saw regularly harass point guards full court and then switch to defend the rest of the court. Great shooting touch and one of most underrated passers. Rare complete player in his prime.
Kevin Garnett was a generational talent arguably the greatest defensive powerforward of all time.
Man I forgot how good KG really was. Thanks for the throwback. 😊
Great video, prime KG (99-08) was so goated. KG's clutchness was very underrated.
With that size and length plus the skills, he move so fast and smooth. Damn! "MVP KG" is different bro!
It just breaks my heart every time KG talks about he couldve joined my Lakers 😂😂😂 Him and Kobe on the same team would've been disgusting
I think they would be a better defensive duo than MJ and Pippen
would've been a legit nightmare for other teams lol
That’s a real intense duo frfr
@Jaleel Og KG didnt get hurt in 09, and Perks in 2010, we talking Celts 3peat
That would of been something to behold. Sucks he didn’t just wait for Kobe to call him back lol
I would’ve loved to see some passing highlights in here, KG is one of the best passing bigs ever.
KG.... This guy was a monster both ends of the floor
His back to the basket footwork was masterful. The mid-range game made him unstoppable.
The Big Ticket had an all around game. Easily tied with Tim Duncan as the best power forward ever in the game. Could do it all. The stepback J. The floaters. The post moves. The pump fakes. How many 6'11" or 7 footers you know that can do a turnaround stepback fadeaway shot? KG was a pioneer
KG has that heart all the greats have.. “Literally my 2nd but yet maybe my favorite player of all time”, Jordan, KG and Kobe have that same type of mentality. You can’t teach what those type of player’s have. Pure heart!!
He had no business developing the mid range game like he did but man, it made him deadly. How did he not average 30 a few times.
Always my favorite player. Thank you for the amazing video.
People used to hate on him for losing out on 1st round playoff consecutively until he left. It immediately showed that just getting Twolves into the playoff is actually borderline impossible lol
Hope nobody takes this the wrong way but skill wise KG was the MJ of PFs
Yes he can do it both defensive and offensive. I think if you're talking about most skilled PF. He's probably the most. But because of Duncan the most rings that makes him the greatest
I always say give KG teams like Tim Duncan and he'd have numerous rings
Damn he was skilled asf😭😭 like the way he moves he should’ve played the 3 type sht. It feels crazy asl watching these highlights and be like damn he took sum hakeem and added streetball handles to it💀💯
6:58 Not only did he destroy Nene he made sure that he didn’t fall
True class. Shaq would've pushed Nene to the ground, and get away with it because he's Shaq.
He was unreal ,Boston had him and he wasn't even half of what he was in he still was a beast ,if they would've gotten him another star he would've one a few more crazy how great he was
He was so mobile back then and clean with his footwork. Very sharp and a true legend of the game.
I swear if he ever had the type of help Duncan had on a daily his career would have been even more legendary.
Just my opinion, but I think Prime KG is underrated. He could do almost everything, dominant on both ends, leader... Thanks for the vid.
Agree
I just notice 2000s nba players
Kobe, tmac, ai,dirk, pierce,kg,vince they all have that jordansque fadeaway
one of my favorites of all time. will always come back and watch these terrible quality videos of him dominating the NBA
If the 90s were the age of centers, then the 2000s were the age of power forwards. An honor to at least get a glimpse of the 2000s back in the old days.
That block on Earl Boykins was just so wrong, and yet so right! 😂😂😂
Garnett really had no weakness. He is the prototypical PF.
The living true legend and one of my all time favotire player Kevin (the big ticket) Garnett!
Insane that KG covers so much ground on both ends. Talk about the definition of hard carrying
He's incredible
Garnett is one of the most powerful and magnificent players in the league. His prime season on the T'wolves was DANGEROUS!!!
He’s win Multiple MVP’s in todays game. Would probably play at center most of the time instead of forward.
Add a Dpoy as well bro
If he could have somehow pulled a championship out of this season it would be arguably the greatest overall season of all time. He did a great job just to get the T-Wolves to the WCF and push Shaq and Kobe to 6 games with what he had. Definitely deserved MVP this season. KG was one of the greatest rebounders of all time, arguably the most skilled big of all time and arguably the greatest defender of all time. Probably deserves a top 10 spot.
The best defensive player off all time
I never watched kg really until this montage. I knew was skilled big but I didn’t know he could shoot so well and from deep. Surprised he didn’t leave the wolves sooner.
Kevin Garnett battling with Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan, Amare Stoudemire, Pau Gasol, Chris Webber, David West, and Carlos Boozer in the West was the most exciting part of watching the playoffs back then. I missed those times
The most TALENTED pf ever.
For me it’s not hard to shed a couple tears cause KG meant a lot to me as a kid. Growing up in Minnesota and watching him do his shoulder fake turn arounds on tv. His intensity I wanted to copy that and he’s the reason why I play the game a certain way.
Same here bro I'm 34 now so I definitely grew up with kg in Minnesota . Loved him Noone in Minne was upset when he had to go get a ring
This might be 1 of the best complete seasons from any player in NBA history💯.. he was unconscious from the elbow🤦🏾♂️..
Best PF of all time! Ticket was battling the Lakers, Dallas, Spurs, Sacramento and a couple of those Blazers teams without much help offensively or defensively for that matter. And even ran the point against LA in a playoff series!
Underrated comment, most so called good basketball analysis didn't talk about enough at the time and it's is almost completely forgotten by the bball universe, only the people who followed kg and the people with the greatest bball i.q would understand this statement. If it wasn't for injuries to that 03-04 squad and to a lesser extent a couple of breaks here and there against that Lakers team in 02-03, kg would've had 2 rings in Minnesota.
Gawd dayum at 1:40 ish where he fakes baseline, reverse spins back to the middle for the fade away was tufff
Best turn-around J of any big man...
Bro keep up the good work with throwback player highlights! I was born in 96, so I never knew how great he was before his Boston days. I needed this
The swishes on some of the shots >>>
@9:10 🥶
it's like watching a 7 foot kobe. best pf ever
Fastest 7-footer to have ever lived..
People forget this man was an MVP

I loved this team! Garnett was amazing that year. Well deserved MVP.
People don't understand how good this man really is he's a top 10 talent ever.
Stop it who the hell are you kicking out from top ten.
@@deni8814 his resume isnt top 10 but raw talent he's up there pretty high
@@folkscrazyouthere3076 I will give you, a ton 10 defender, talentwise there were definetely 10 players more talented, Garnett loses points on not being dominant offensively nor could he take over games at the end.
@Lando top 20 to 30 there is a argument.
@Lando Kg is more talented than ever 1 on this list. He had no weakness. A monster in the post and could guard the perimeter. And grabbed every rebound in the gym
This version of a Kevin Garnett I can say is as good as anyone has played the game of basketball. Up there with the primes of Lebron, Jordan, Duncan, Kobe.
This version of Garnett matches up with any player in the history of the sport. Pure dominance
nice, i love KG, he so long, unguardable, keep the highlights coming, Max
Wish it was longer but thanks for the effort. This is dope! Scottie Pippen 93-94 season would be great too.
Lmfao @ 0:19, all jokes aside, KG gotta be the most if not one of the most athletic PF’s of all time. I mean he was really all over the court as a big man
This was just pure entertaining and magical! Love KG!
He's plays like a 7 foot tall sg/sf on offense while being a top 5 defenseive player of the 3 pta era
We need that MJ '93 season even though he was exhausted from the Olympics and goin for the 3PEAT he put on an absolute show that season.
32.7ppg led league
6.8rpg
5.8apg
2.7spg led league
53/37/87 shooting splits
This cat was built different, hes almos unguardable.
The real PF GOAT
that block on boykins at 4:09 is just insane. I know Earl is only 5'5", but KG was blocked out and was good six of seven feet away from the guy. How the hell did he get all the way up there??
KG was way ahead of his time.
Kinda sad how Nba Twitter hates on this man, one of the most talented and skilled players to ever play the game. At 7ft, he was the first true 7footer that could move and play like a guard. Wherever he went his impact was felt. Sadly the people wont give him his due because his arch nemesis won 5 rings.
It's not because of their rings. It's bcoz of their attitude. KG seems to be very expressive, flashy and almost cocky whereas TD is the exact opposite, seems to be very humble on the court.
@@loucapilla840 No it's rings lol. The same words you used to describe KG, perfectly describe Kobe, who is loved.
People are reductive. Rings validate players' characters. If KG had 5 and Timmy had one, the narrative would be that Tim was too soft and pure to handle KG's smoke
@@simonanderson4858 yea I do put championships big on my list but you gotta look at situations. Duncan had talented teams year after year while kg didn’t have good pliers to the very last couple years of his prime in boston
@@simonanderson4858 a guy like westbrook is someone I would say should get falcons for no rings the man has had so many stacked teams and still can’t do anything
@@Chickenpesto2468 I've never understood putting so much value on championships when rating individual players. It just does not make logical sense and when people do that I get the impression that they don't have a good understanding of basketball. It's a team game first and foremost. No one can carry an entire team to a championship by themselves. KG squeezed so much juice out of one of the worst lineups in the NBA. It's honestly remarkable that he even got that Wolves team into the playoffs. Whenever I look at a championship statistic, my first thought is to look at the team as a whole. Even if a team is good, you have to consider the context of the competition in any given year before writing someone off as an all-time great individual player. It works the other way around too. Some of the historical greats probably appear better than they actually were given who they were up against.
One of the most talented player of all time🔥
Fun fact: KG’s mom did everything in her power to stop KG from playing B Ball, to the point he used to sneak out n play, and got whoopings for it, until his coach came to his home 1 day, n convinced his mother that KG was a beast n was going to be a great player in the future. This was destined for KG. How proud is mom now
A 6’10 player who moved like a damn shooting guard lord💀💀🤦🏾♂️
he's 7'1" which is scarier
KG is a top 3 PF all time and a top 20 player all time such a beast 🤩
Imagine going against trash talker who’s scoring on you and locking you up
Tim had the fundamentals yes but he used those more mixed with his abilities and had a better team than KG but Kevin’s fundamentals are insane to add he was a pure scorer with more in the bag and his teams were worst my point is it may be safe to say he may be the most complete PF in history period.
KG was the PF version of Kobe seeing the way he was playing this season
Always said that
Top 5 all around player of all time. If you didnt watch consistently you don't know. To this day have never witnessed someone play harder on both ends of the floor...
I feel like... We have a spiritual bond.
Thank you.
💜💛
Brad Miller back then had to guard Dirk, Shaq, KG, & Tim Duncan every other week 😂😂😂
He, Dirk, Bosh etc paved the way for KD.
One of my favorite players of all time.
The Boston version of KG was not this level of elite scoring, but cool to see prime KG.
KG is my fav of all time.
I just wish he could've had been with a better franchise or better teammates or a Shaq or a David Robinson.
