It's too bad people who travel there don't look into it first. I respect the guards and horses more than before.

My regiment lost 15 men in Afghan and 47 with life changing injuries. We are not just for show, we are the senior regiment of the British army that is why we guard are King and the royal family

Having worked next to Horseguards 24 years....visiting dignotary. Just never were so many ribberndcking tourists...or Favebook Channdl. Id say by number plate and earlier Arab Military visitors..Quatari dignitary.
British Army has PR photographers within it's ranks. It could be an adjutant, rank and file officer. Whoever it is will be vettded and have security clearance.
While ever1 was concentrating on the cars and the armed police never think the rooftops on either side where not nestling long barrel operatives and there wasn't a number of fully trained and armed to the teeth anti terror squads lurking nearby on alpha response. such is the world we live in 2day sad but true having said that I would rather the aforementioned personnel where in place just in case.

Because soldiers are not permitted to be armed in a civil area. That's the remit of the MoD police and Police armed response units if required. The armed forces will not be used against the public.
They are MOD [Ministry of Defence] Police, armed, they only have jurisdiction inside the gates and around the horses. They are not MET [Metropoitan] Police -unarmed in the UK. Mod Police are not in the military but a civilian special force that are charged with providing armed security and counter-terrorism services to designated high-risk areas, as well as uniformed policing and limited investigative services to Ministry of Defence property, personnel, and installations throughout the United Kingdom.

The Brits should thoroughly check out whoever is coming through the gates since it’s a military facility. Access to this facility seems kind of lax whereby everyone and their cousin is allowed to come through the gates since it’s an historical facility. Maybe if the Brits tacks on an admission fee, for admission and for administration fee for setting up the new admission procedure.
