    That banjo bolt of the oil return took me 2 hours to get threaded because I replaced my turbo without being able to get my truck in the air to access from wheel well. complete PITA

    On my most recent (and last) time disassembling, I highly recommend unbolting the oil drain from the turbo instead.
    Much faster, and easier.

      @@dingeldiy I would love to do a rebuild, put a front mount intercooler, and a bigger exhaust. I've upgraded the fan to ten blade, swapped out the radiator for a Fenix, do my services myself but lifting an engine out and doing a rebuild by myself is way too daunting. I'm a sparky by trade and decently handy but that feels way out of my pay grade. You make it all look Soo easy.

    Is there benefit to taking the time to run the snorkel straight out of the turbo and up the right side of the truck, rather than out the stock air filter on the left? I assume the shorter path and not running over the hot engine would be better?

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy  3 года назад +1

      Your logic is correct yes. If you cant do it yourself your money would be better spent on an intercooler or an exhast. You also need to keep in mind that the factory air filter is massive and non restrictive so to do the car justice youd need to put a quality aftermarket filter in its place where ever you decide to locate it.

    Hey, great video!
    Wish it was 1 week earlier haha.
    I also just did an exhaust upgrade on my 04 kzn165. What a nightmare it was getting that dump off. I had to take the turbo off too to undo the same rounded bolt as you.
    Would love to know more about how the boost tee install is done? Do you have a video on this? I'm wanting to get a little bit more power out of mine without going too crazy with mods.
    On a side note incase it helps anyone else, if you're upgrading to a 3 inch exhaust you may run out of space for your spare tire underneath the car.
    I can no longer fit mine with the PPD exhaust.

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy  3 года назад

      Not the worst thing relocating the spare anyway as its a messy job getting to it especially when you need it while 4 wheel driving.
      To fit the boost tee you need to intercept the vacuum line coming from the turbo leading to the waste gate. The boost tee in this video is 2 parts. The tee itself and the bleed valve to control how much air you want to bleed off.
      The benefit of this is that you can mount the bleed valve some where easy to access and dial in your boost pressre to the desired amount.
      Anything over 14 psi will require more fuel and a different map sensor to gain more power

    Thanks 🙏

    • @dingeldiy

      Generally a result of a free flowing intake/pod filter and larger exhaust with straight through mufflers

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy  11 месяцев назад

      Yes it does matter. different turbos would require different dump pipe flanges. Common flanges for aftermarket turbos are known as T3 or T4 flanges if that helps. if your turbo is just a high flowed version of your stock turbo then the exhaust flanges should remain the same.

    Whats a bleed valve and its purpose?

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy  2 года назад +1

      A bleed valve tricks the wastegate into staying closed for longer. The waste gate controls boost from the factory. Using a bleed valve to control your wastegate is the cheapest way to increase your boost pressure reliably.

    Too be fair all winding up the boost is going to do is lean the mixture out and help it too run cooler
    Any power gained will be outweighed by the torque lost
    You’ll find you will use more right foot to compensate for that loss of torque and end up with worse fuel economy
    Boost is nothing without the fuel to match it
