    What are your thoughts on doing this exercise with an Olympic bar and plates with a wide grip? I see it as both an upper and low back builder hitting the upper back and erectors. Also could be done for glute and hams. Both versions from a dead stop.

    Great info Joe! Quick question: when targeting the lower back, is rounding your back to go down still safe when you start adding weights?

  • @CoachCaidin
    @CoachCaidin 3 года назад +2

    Hey Joe, not sure if you answer questions on YT but it's worth a shot.
    What is your preferred way of adding external load to a Hyperextension in order to progressively overload? DB's in the hands, plate across the chest, bar on the back (Dorian style)?

    • @HypertrophyCoach
      @HypertrophyCoach  3 года назад +2

      DBs or barbel in hand. (Mainly for semantics). Barbell on the back is perfectly fine, just a pain to get in place with more load

    What's your opinion on Mcgills work? He doesnt recommend rounding the spine at all when your training. I do understand he is talking about core/spinal stability and not in hypertrophy terms.

      I was scrolling through the comments and saw yours. I'm glad someone else had the same thought about rounding the back. I think it's a very bad idea. I have never seen anyone perform a back extension with rounded back like that...

  • @springteen3743

    So what’s the point? Wich one f the two should be done?🤔🤔

    • @bjiffy10
      @bjiffy10 7 месяцев назад

      The point is based on what muscles you want to target you can do either back ext or hip ext on one machine by adjusting pad height. One is lower back focused and the other is hamstring/glute focused.
