When this song first rolled out, I didn’t care much for it except the girl I was dating loved all Rod Stewart songs particularly this one. Decades later when I came across ‘I was only Joking’, it had a completely different feel. The song moves me and the lyrics makes my eyes teary, heart wrenching. A super talented yet underrated musician. Not that R S wasn’t famous, but I now feel he should’ve deserved more credit than he already had. I feel like a fool missing such a marvelous song for years. Hats off….

@@sportyfemme64 I think u misunderstood what I was referring to 🙂 I drove a 4 bangers Pinto at the time but both Maureen and I had our eyes on the new Fiesta badly, except I couldn’t afford to get one then. I worked hard, real hard to save bulks. I then came across a mint condition German version 2.8 V6 Capri and bought it on the spot. Perhaps u thought my remarks was downgrading my ex-girlfriend was it wasn’t my intention. We broke up in good terms.
ps. ~ Pinto, Fiesta and Capri were ALL Fords, only sold at different dealerships due to global marketing strategies.

I wore the grooves out on Foot Loose and Fancy Free, i was 11 playing guitar and grew up singing in bands that played with major acts. It was my dream. Boy it was fun, dangerous and risky but i have no regrets.
I can't imagine how he would write a solo like he fired en to burn the whole song and also made it automatically downloaded and put on a repeat mode ahw...

This should have gone to number one and stayed there a very long time. However, such as the Brotherhood of Man and Abba, kept it out, as did the fact that it was released as a double A-side with a noisy thing on the other side.
