  • A day trip to Chichen Itza, in the Mexican state of Yucatan, is a must for any travellers looking to transport themselves back to an ancient Mayan world. An incredible site of meticulous ruins, this location is home to some one of the world’s most fascinating cultures. The famous majestic Temple of Kukulkan, a new wonder of the world, is one of the most breathtaking structures on the globe. A stone’s throw from the site lies the Cenote Ik Kil, a massive sinkhole that was once a sacred sacrificial site for the local Mayan tribes. Now one of the most picturesque swimming holes you’ll ever see, it’s one of the most beautiful locations in Mexico, and provides a great opportunity for visitors to cool off in crystal clear waters, surrounded by waterfalls, vines and cliff faces.

Beautiful and amazing but you left out how heavily it is weighted with vendors/commercialization and though it is still well worth the visit, be prepared for heavy load of vendors - which is understandable, but they are spread throughout the entire grounds which can make it a bit annoying while trying to take in the complete awe of Chichen Itza, such a stunning and fascinating place to be.

What a shame tourists can't climb the ruins of this magnificent temple.
