    China already possesses the world's largest high-speed railway network, and it will only expand more ambitiously, according to the country's new Five-Year Plan. But it's not just the railroads that are extending. China may also get a major boost in the speed of its bullet trains. A prototype maglev train unveiled recently at Southwest Jiaotong University in Chengdu aims to set a new speed record for trains - the current record of 603 kilometers per hour is held by Japan's SCMaglev. China's answer to it is 620.

    Germany: "We created a maglev patent in 1935 and built the flagship "transrapid" (550 km/h) in the 1970s and 1980s. But we did not build the commercial line between Hamburg and Berlin in the 1990s, because some ecologists found rare species of bats and snails (or something) somewhere along the route." Today Germany has no research in that area anymore and looks like a damn fool. The current German rail system is underfunded and ages fast. No upgrade in sight. - Thank God, China is building the future of clean, fast and safe transport.

    • @aphextwin5712
      @aphextwin5712 3 года назад

      Or maybe it was just too expensive for shaving off 22 minutes of the travel time between Berlin and Hamburg (de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetschnellbahn_Berlin-Hamburg#Verlauf). Not least since one had to built new tracks right into the city centres in dense urban area.

      @@aphextwin5712 For the "monetarist" everything is too expensive that doesn't bring short-term profit. This line would have only been the first in a whole European or Eurasian system. In tubes traveling at 1500 km/h will be possible, replacing inefficient, resource wasting air travel. You can even build tracks above existing highways. - But it's no use preaching to the deaf.

    • @aphextwin5712
      @aphextwin5712 3 года назад

      @@DieMultipolareWelt The German government, which would have financed the Maglev line, isn't a company generating 'short-term' profit. And you really think that a 500 km/h Maglev line could have been easily retrofitted with a vaccum tube and the same 'tracks' would have easily accommodated a 1500 km/h system? And I am still waiting for a prototype vaccum tube that is at least a dozen kilometres long. And that is before taking bio and synthetic fuels for aircraft into account. You can produce a lot synthetic fuel for the cost of thousands of kilometres of vaccum tubes.

    • @DieMultipolareWelt

      @@aphextwin5712 You're right, the German government isn't. Decades of research and development were thrown out the window. What a waste. The government should think about the larger issues such as the benefits for the real economy in the next one or two generations. China didn't have any high speed rail 15 or so years ago. Look at it today. You think everything was just an expensive experiment with no greater value? Flying is so much more time consuming. You have to take subways, buses and taxis to a relatively remote area and spend most of the time waiting. A maglev you can board like your regular train. Of course you can build tubes, even underground. It's just a matter of will power and political determination. Banks waste so much credit in stupid bubbles, including biofuels, which just takes arable land and food away. You can of course wait and wait until you're blue in the face. That won't help. Maybe it's time to mobilize to correct mistakes.

    • @amihart9269
      @amihart9269 3 года назад +7

      @James L There will be no hyperloop ever. Hyperloop is incredibly stupid. It would take the energy of several nuclear bombs to pump the air out of the these long tubes. Even Musk himself gave up trying to pump the air out and only does a partial vacuum, but this is only in his short tube. If he built ones as long as China's tracks, the problem would return, it would still take many nuclear bombs worth of energy to pump the air out. And for what? A partial vacuum doesn't speed the train up that much. It's a huge waste of energy. Not only that, but it's very dangerous. If there is a single failure in the tube anywhere, the tube will collapse like a bottle you have sucked the air out of, and then this collapse would run up the tubes from both ends, destroying the entire infrastructure.

      @James L China's high speed rail is real and is the future. But Musk's hyperloop is a fantasy and is a prime example of why capitalist economies are not always rational, since a billionaire can just decide to pay a bunch of engineers to pretend to work on a project that will never be viable because the billionaire is so arrogant he thinks he knows more than the engineers.

    China has a Communist government and run an almost capitalist system (only with one big difference)? China have been able to watch and learn from all the mistakes made by the West, giving them a massive advantage to get things right without having to make the same mistakes as the failed West. The biggest difference you'll find between the West and China, is that China will never allow anyone, or any company/business/corporation to become influential to the leading party. Nothing and nobody will ever be able to dictate government policy. Not by having lots of money, or by being an Elite as we've got in the West (in the West, we've created a 1% of the population, with over 90% of the wealth), and that has seen the power shift away from governments, and into the hands of individuals and corporations! And that has seen the West fail. China knows this, and that alone will see China succeed, as it's seen us in the West fail.

    last year they discovered a room temperature stable super conductor, was able to maintain super conductivity at 17 degree C. Although the catch is the material need to be under 90 Gpa of pressure to maintain that super conductivity. So it sort of trade of the problem of maintaining ultra low temperature to a problem of maintain extremely high pressure. The sample had to be pressed within a diamond anvil to maintain its pressure.

    1:24, I think the air resistance problem can be solved by the train going in a tunnel that is vacuum or nearly vacuum, just like a hyperloop train.

    • @nikolasbee009
      @nikolasbee009 3 года назад +1

      yes. but if there is a problem with the loop, or there is a leak of air into it. that's it. it's probably going cost a lot more to repair.

    • @yxeanget-any
      @yxeanget-any 3 года назад +2

      @@nikolasbee009 yeah, the cost may be an issue. but hyperloop does not need much energy to power due to the low resistance, doesn't it also save a lot of money on the cost of electricity, does it?
