  • I got new software for editing the settings and servicing my Volvo S60 That looks like it could outperform VDASH in many ways. Join me as I put ORBIT through its paces.
    Find ORBIT here: spaycetech.com/
    Here is the OBD to Ethernet adapter I used: amzn.to/44es5Ih

    Ahhh you made a video nice! I didn't even know. You got the hang of it. Just a couple comments, I won't write a book. The "search" box at the top of the Configurator box can be helpful to find things, it's free text search and filters the list. I have an easier way to set some of the more complex features like Pilot Assist where multiple config items are required to be changed, as well as slightly different settings per model and type. OrBit will handle picking the right settings, that will be in next update. It does appear that using the Pilot Assist was an issue with the 8" dash display. You could use OrBit to configure the car correctly if you ever swap the larger display ;-)

    Out of curiosity does this allow you to do the total software upgrades to current version for 2023? I have a 2016 xc90 that hasn't been updated since 18. Also can you upgrade to pilot assist 2?
    Thanks

    • @DIYEVERYTHING
      @DIYEVERYTHING  9 месяцев назад +1

      Since this is not Volvo authorized software it will not do the factory updates. I have played with the various pilot assist levels and have not noticed any difference between them but, my car did not come with pilot assist active so I may be missing something that would enable the various levels.

    Woah this is really cool, I watched these videos before I bought my S60. I saw you added the polestar drive mode. Did you actually get the optimization so the cars a little faster? Or was it just the drive mode itself that changed names?

    • @DIYEVERYTHING
      @DIYEVERYTHING  Месяц назад +2

      The Polestar Optimization is different from Polestar Engineered. The Engineered can be activated with Orbit which tightens the shift response and slightly increases boost pressure. Optimized is done through the service department/ workshop and is a more in-depth process that includes a few replacement parts of I remember correctly.

    • @DIYEVERYTHING
      @DIYEVERYTHING  Год назад +3

      I have learned that this may not be the full polestar tune you get from the dealership. According to the forums on the Spaycetech site, this only affects the transmission, and the dealership tunes the engine portion separate. What I can tell you is that it feels sportier, shifts better, and has better acceleration. I'm happy with it. I only selected the first option on the list and haven't tried the others yet.

    • @up_indust
      @up_indust 11 месяцев назад +1

      Choose "Polestar Optimization" option, this is the only one that should be useful in most cases. Actual effects on the car vary by year and drivetrain. Generally for the T and D series this enables only the "Polestar" transaxle software program.

    • @Gan9LLL
      @Gan9LLL 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@up_indust So what you're saying is that the polestar program in the OrBit software will only help my transmission shift more aggressively, it won't give my engine more horsepower. Is that right? BTW, mine is a T6 engine. So my car will only have the "Polestar" option in OrBit?

    • @DIYEVERYTHING
      @DIYEVERYTHING  10 месяцев назад

      @@Gan9LLL My Volvo is a T6 as well and I have noticed that it shifts better and feels more responsive. Of course, this is just from my butt dyno, and may feel better because I expect it to. For the price, I think it's a pretty good option.

    I'm waiting on them finding a solution for the earlier VEA models and older requiring the DICE unit, that's where most of the money to be made is I think, due to the number of used Volvo's out there. VDash is still king on those models.

    • @DIYEVERYTHING
      @DIYEVERYTHING  8 месяцев назад +3

      It is and probably always will be. I think the major drawback is the high cost of the dice unit and the "pay-to-play" style of VDASH. If they offered it as an unlimited subscription base, there may be a better response from people wanting to do advanced programming.

      @leninreyes3720 I'm not a fan of intakes, all that do is add sound and no real performance gain. The smaller super charger pully may help but waste gate/ recirc valve will limit boost pressure.
