If you have the navionics app you can just put a pin on your map when you leave your vehicle. Saved me once during an early AM dig where the wind killed visibility.

Good to see you out clamming. We just finished off the last of our razors last weekend in some seafood Paella.

Yeah, Megan and I each limited our only trip of the year and they were generally running small with just a few nice ones. Nice work, man.

The small razor clams are the best for deep frying in your favorite batter mix.

Copalis last month was mixed 50/50. Going to go again in December. It's a long drive and a late night so we will camp out (sleep in the van) in the cold.

Ah my home beach! I live across the street. Looks like you found where they planted them recently. We hit a couple spots where they were pretty small this year, but lots of biggns to be had.

Good day Blake. I've gone out at night in the winter for oysters. I don't really do it anymore though, the tides that are good are all way too late! I also used to wade the shallows in hip waders looking for crabs but the beach I go to is empty at night with no help available should the need arise. It's also kind of spooky to hear LARGE splashing noises just meters away in the pitch dark when you are thigh high in the water!

Ha ha, sure is Mike! I should probably cover safety in my next razor clam vid. Two people died in WA in 2018 night clamming from a sneaker wave. (they were miles away too...).

I had great luck with big clams at Grayland this year in October, but it was also way higher up on the beach than normal. Saw some decent tells while walking up figured why not be lazy and got rewarded.

Oh cool! I got my two bigger ones further up the beach. That's some great Intel!

Great video. I miss not having clams in the freezer. Blake I have a stuffed razor clams recipe and a razor clam chowder recipe on my channel you ought to try. I did them about 4 years ago when we lived in Ocean Shores

Thanks GnG! I'll watch and give those a try if I can start digging again on the regular.

It's been a mix of sizes out at Twin Harbors. For some reason it's been harder to tell their sizes from the shows this fall for me. But, big or small, no such thing as a bad razor clam. 😊

Have you thought about a group dig? It would be great to get the band together.

We were out at Grayland last month and it was about 2/3 larger, 1/3 smaller clams. The tide was less than -1, but can't remember how much lower. Maybe -1.2?

I wonder how often we don't see shows of razors that are on the smaller side, but sitting deeper due to higher surf? To put it another way, is the reason you found so many small clams due to them being closer to the surface, thus making a more pronounced show? Do only larger clams produce shows when they are deeper? I've got a lot of questions and no answers. Food for thought, perhaps.
