Great lesson, Eric, as always. But the last part that you showed with the 2 Paradidle didles with the double lefts isn't what you finally played. You're playing something shorter. I ❤ it.
Hey man for real thank you for this. I just got a new Alesis and a Yamaha snare and Sabian cymbals, have a hybrid practice kit right now to get back into the groove after many years. Once a drummer, always a drummer. Very thankful for these!
Awesome! Been using your chop builder - hand and foot development exercises for the last month and I can't believe the progress I'm seeing. I started using them about 2 years ago and abandoned them and I wish I would have stayed with them then. I got caught in the trap that I could learn anything without having these basics down first. Was wondering where to go next and I then your video shows up in my feed. Be on the lookout for a coffee coming your way!
Great content overall.. I did notice that when you looped the 3 phrases together the third phrase wasn’t played the way you first explained it. The crash was on the “1” when you played it on its own but when you played it as part of the complete exercise the crash moved from 1 to 4 to 3 to 2 back to 1
I like this kind of videos a lot, the sound of this kit is amazing but I'd like to see videos like this without processing sound to see what we could expect of our sound, what is realistic, what is trash sound and what isn't, you sound amazing but I try to do the same and sounds like trash, I can't afford a high end kit like you(I think yours is high end) and I have in e-drums what is like 😞
The sound of my kit is completely achievable for anyone. I play a Gretsch USA Custom. (yes, a high end kit), but you can still get a very professional sound with an intermediate kit like a Gretsch Renown Maple. BTW, when it comes to the mixing. I use intermediate level mics, a pro level audio interface, and I don't do too much processing other than EQ, and compression which is needed for all drum mixes. I teach everything I use and exactly how anyone can record, mix and produce professional drums through a new course I put together. You can get 5 Free lessons to get started on the right track here: moderndrumacademy.com When it comes to comparing an e-kit to a real kit, there so much different. E-kits are good for practicing if you can't make a lot of noise but they lack the real tone and touch of acoustic drums. Hope that helps!
Lol! Be content with who you are and what you have dude! I’m nobody special trust me. If you want to get where I’m at with drumming just put in the work! Little tiny steps don’t feel like your getting anywhere fast but one day you’ll look back and see how far you’ve come. 👍🏼🙏🏼
