If you're ever in Canada, like Ottawa or Montreal, let Dylan know and we'll try to get there and take you out to a decent dinner. Love the fact that you leave the mistakes in...if you're not making mistakes, you're not learning, even at the highest levels.
You’re one of my favorites, and I absolutely love how honest you are. It’s really easy to enforce being perfect as a drummer but it’s truly a breathe of fresh air to hear you embrace mistakes and let up and coming drummers know, it’s okay to make mistakes in practice and at shows! Well done brother 🤝🏾
It's hard to find this, indeed. Not about a drummer but there's a beautiful video of a concert/enterview with legendary Oscar Peterson talking about mistakes with this same kind of honesty. I just love to find this examples. World class violinist Hillary Hahn also used to post some studying practices same way. Gold for us.
I TOTALLY APPRECIATE you posting the unedited version of your lesson. Often times when we watch videos like this, we see only the polished version and never the mistakes the Pros make! Thank you for sharing both versions of your lesson!
Ive been trying to learn some chops and more compmex rudiments recently but i only realised from watching this video that i havent gone through the simpler stages yet comfortably enough to actaully get to that chop stage yet. Im gonna practice these now so thankyou
man, the pacing of your video and explanations, the calmness in your voice and even your philosophy with mastering the drums - its all just so refreshing and real compared to so much of youtube. love it man
First time seeing you: I really appreciate how calm you are talking and how honest you stand to mistakes. That's what everybody is encountering when learning and there is no end in learning. We all will get better the longer and more intense we train and yet everybody will still have limits and make mistakes in the area of these limits. Thank you!
Proof that being real, humble and straight to the point gets as much subscribers as the annoying “click bait” BS out there. Man! Cheers from New Brunswick, Canada! Great job
I've just now started to look at mobility in my playing. I can say this - your willingness to leave in any mistakes made is a tribute to your character and your honesty. It's quite refreshing, frankly. Thank you so much for showing that you're human. Not editing out any mistakes made does not mean that you are any less of a drummer. This video has to be one of the best ones out there about mobility come and it's quite motivating. I'm here for it and you've helped me prioritize this in my playing. Much obliged.
I do this with multiple practice pads set up around me like a kit. Great exercise. I even picked up a couple sharpies tonight and did this on the dishes that were drying on the countertop. So much fun. And yes, I do drop a stick now and then. I don't have a kit yet. I am a newbie. Just started learning in January. 🥁💜🎶
Well Expressed. Superb Lesson. Ironically The Most important lesson was about messing up. That is REAL & more important for learners than Anything. Awesome vid!
Loved the fact that although intermediate level stuff you left in the flaws. I tell people I educate if they aren’t dropping they aren’t popping! Brother you be popping! Respect
@3:13 Aaaaaaand you have my full respect forever right there. Thank YOU for this video and for emphasizing that mistakes are okay, and worthy of being celebrated. And this is a fantastic mobility video. This is more of what I want in my playing so I can be more dynamic.
You're a great teacher and I really enjoyed this video. I don't get to play fast too often because I mainly play songs people dance to but it sure is nice to slip in a fast fill and keep it at tempo. I will enjoy challenging myself in practicing these fills
Right on, some challenging stuff! I really love ambidextrous exercises, switching lead hands etc. I had brain surgery a couple yrs ago and the surgeon was actually pretty interested in my drumming, asked about paradiddles. He said he thought it would help with neuroplasticity and healing. I think he was right!
Bro, I’m a huge fan of you and I’m a huge fan of this series that you’re doing! Could you please do a mini lesson on coordination and independence when it comes to your hands and feet? It could be hands and right foot or hands with both right and left foot. Thank you so much bro, you’re doing the Lord’s work🤣🤣👊🏾
Can’t tell you how helpful these videos are. You’re an incredible musician as well as a truly authentic person. Hope to see you live with Jose James one day. All the best!
Love the honesty! Very important, good for new & older drummers! What really makes me laugh is in being self taught, thought I came up with the first exercise you demonstrated. Too funny! Thanks for sharing the exercises & the education!
Fantastic but let’s talk about the maturity and humility here! Leaving in mistakes, that’s what Tony loved and that’s what’s on display here… going for it and being real with the community. You’re an inspiration bro!
I like how your not trying to hide your mistakes and that your being authentic and genuine

Excellent excellent excellent young brother........keep your path to greatness
The bonus exercise with the Swiss triplet crossovers was wild ❤️🔥
Great video, impressive control and speed….would love to hear your process or philosophy on creating a short solo during a live performance

Great playing, love the hats and stacks
Very Helpful, Very Genuine! Thanks Man!!
Thanks for keeping it real. I like your honesty.

That Jerome Flood inspired triplet exercise is clean.
One of my favorite exercises🤘🏿
Yes sirrr Jerome Flood ll! He's a cool guy. He taught me everything you doing on this video. I was in the same GC drumoff with Jerome.
Thanks for those exercises. I'm definitely gonna practice those. 🥁❤️

Классные упражнения, спасибо Бро!
Also the kit, tuning & mic work is oN Point!
The triplet exercise could also be done using paradiddles. It translates to the same pattern around the drums, including the cymbal hits.
Thanks for the inspiration bro
Good stuff. Keep working!
Fantastic but let’s talk about the maturity and humility here! Leaving in mistakes, that’s what Tony loved and that’s what’s on display here… going for it and being real with the community. You’re an inspiration bro!
