- Let's see if we can make the old permobil C300 a bit more useful! we're gonna add some michelin S83 moped tires, castors, and a new backrest! it took a bit more work that planned - but i think it turned out pretty well!
These S83 tires should fit on most modern quantum wheels with NO modifications
unfortunately, permobil wheels require modifying the tire bead to fit (a die grinder would probably have worked better and yielded nicer-looking results :^)

Thanks Dan for your answer. When I checked it out when it first happened I pulled the wheel on the left side and found one of the brushes had a completely disintegrated spring so I thought that had to be it. I ordered 2 brushes from monster something or other and they sent the wrong ones. After that I measured them and ordered 2 pair from eBay. They came in and were slightly wide. I filed them down so they fit but it still ran in circles.
I then pulled the motor housing and clean ended the commutator really good and still no go.
I then took the brake off the left side to see if the brake was locked and still no go. The armature looked great.

dang.. the windings in the motor might be bad then :^/
ya can check the resistance on both motors and see if the other side is significantly different.. (its the larger wires on the 4 pin connectors going into the main controller)
depending on the control system, the brush issue could have caused a problem inside the controller as well.. this is where things start getting a bit more expensive... like buying a pair of motors on ebay to test etc..

Car tires are actually cheaper than wheelchair tires, I think people try and rip off the disabled, I'm on the lookout for some that will fit my invacare storm 4, I have the GGB motors on it and the rim size is 2.5, I've tried a tire with a 3.0 rim and it will not go on.

I have those tyres on my permobil without trimming the bead the trick is to use some longer bolts while you cinch the wheel together and then swap them out for the standard boats hope it helps I have been raging on a set for about four years and their only just starting to get bald
Hey Dan. Another informative video. Do you think permobil footplates would fit an edge 3? Mine are just to narrow and I haven't had any luck searching for quantum footplates.
the mounting methods are completely different unfortunately.. BUT quantum does make bolt-on extensions or little 'wings' that attach!

Hey there I was wondering if you could ask a question about my jazzy elite HD.
My question is what do you think is causing my chair to only go in circles? It seems my left wheel is locked
I’d check the brake levers- flip them a few times, and also the motor connections on the main controller under the back cover- sometimes they come loose. But typically any of those issues with cause an error.. might need a new set of motors :-/

@@TotallyNormal- Yes they only work by pressing very hard for a long time, they seem to be dirty as it usually happens in ics.
How about the Honda tires fitting on the Quantam 2.0?
they will fit the wheels, BUT spacing will probably be an issue - clearing motors etc.. haven't tried it myself just yet though
@@TotallyNormal- I may save up and get a pair to see if it helps me better when I get offroad.
Castors - maybe a washer on 'very first' then bolt won't protrude as much, it may affect the flutter but nothing to lose. Suck eggs grandma.... Or something : )
