Sona Jobarteh is the first female Kora virtuoso to come from a prestigious west African Griot family. Breaking away from tradition, she is a modern day pioneer in an ancient, male-dominated hereditary tradition that has been exclusively handed down from father to son for the past seven centuries. Also a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalists, Sona is one of the most exciting new talents from the West African Griot tradition to hit the stage in recent years. Sona has an effortless ability to blend musical styles and uses her innovative stance to talk about issues to do with cultural identity, gender, love and respect whilst still adhering to and rooting herself firmly in her traditional cultural heritage. Sona represents her tradition in a way that is easily accessible to her audiences from around the world, who are drawn in by her captivating voice, strong rhythms and catchy melodies. 👍🏿🌹🌺🌷❤she is very beautiful music
What Sona said couldn't be more true when it comes to others digging deeper into ones own culture. In America there are aboriginal tribes that are predominately black. We are labeled African American due to the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade. There weren't as many African brought into this land as they say. But due to the narrative and brainwashing of the majority of our people, most aboriginals have no clue that they are not African. Don't get me wrong Africa and its people are both intelligent and beautiful. I'm proud of my kin (Earthlings). I'm proud of their achievements and pray for the colonialist to let them be free to be who they are. Speaking as a person who's been lied to from the jump I understand, overstand, and innerstand the importance to holding onto your culture and history. Otherwise some other group will steel it from you and you'll accept anything they tell you about yourself. Surrendering your soul and cosmic inheritance willingly without even knowing you're doing it. It's highly important to keep up with your history and culture so this doesn't happen to you. Thank you Sona. I've been trying to go deeper into my native background and this is very inspiring. Much love to ALL my native peoples in your native lands suffering from colonization. We will rise again and take back what is rightfully OURS.✌✌✌✌💖💖💖💖💖🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🙏🙏🙏🙏🌎🌍🌏
Sona.....is so eloquent!!

POWERFUL African and Music: Sona Jobarteh and Jaja Brux Daphne Quimon
Elle est vraiment talentueuse et
Si je vois qu'ils cominiquent a traver les instruments ça me fait plaisire rellement, vive l'afrique
Vive
I am fascinated. It's a real discovery for me, to hear this duo that moves my heart to the botton
good u r the legendary of African people s
that question is very broad First you have to say Africa isn't a country it's a continent which consist of different countries and each country has different ethnic groups and in each ethnic group has different clans with different tradition and culture so it depends on who you encounter and from which culture he or she comes from and how much he or she knows about his or hers and other cultures around him or her thanks hope it helps
Thanks !
She So beautiful we love your music
Yes RAa yes
She goes in trance... Just like n heavenly travel
Marvellous!!!!!
Beautiful Sona....
Cantik dan luar biasa
The lady interviewer music is the food of the human spirit how can you ask such a stupid question
Maman Aferika
my Nigerian friend doesn't like this type of music as hes's more into 2pac, DMX etc. shame that modern Africans and black people don't resonate with there own traditional type of music but the Europeans and international world appreciates it more! this music has actual substance then beyonce and her toxic lyrics and music! i love kora music especially when sona plays it as she brings her own unique twist to it with other amazing musicians like her acoustic guitar, bass and drum band. her music and band takes you through a musical experience that goes beyond time and space! sona doesn't get the recognition she deserved as she can actually play an instrument while the modern female artists sound shit and are full of nonsense, drama and get all the fame and glory. the music and film industry is so backward! i guess sona's music wouldn't make money as there's no demand and market for this type of music and the music industry like the film industry is all about making dollars and not about actual art and substance! such a shame!
merveilleuse africaine
Nice
xlent iam in India sona your songs is butifull
Yep miss reporter that question is the size of Africa and to respond she will need to write at least a thesis...she is smart cookie though

Africa is not a single country but a continent,How can you ask her how can African offer special to the world nonsense question
good
Next time please set up the camera and leave it alone. The constant fiddling with the view is terrible. Makes the video unwatchable. Good thing we can scroll down and just listen.
me gusta mucho
gostei muito
merci
who was behind the camera since 6:50? omg...
jaime sona infinement
the journalist is terrible but the cameraman totally sucks!
😂I didn’t even notice because Sona’s answer to an impossible question was so perfect
Is it true, Gambia is Islamic country now ? So bad if it's true ....
is that instrument a harp ?
its Kora
Terrible film making. The cameraman is restless and it's a pity because the music is great...
Nice
