I’m Palestinian/Jordanian too!! I’m currently studying for the UCAT and BMAT and I’m really struggling with the timing. I heard from others that the 2019 UCAT has two different question types in Situational Judgment, that Decision making is now much harder, and that students who were getting Band 1 in SJ on Medify got Band 2/3 in the real test in 2019. I’m really worried about this.

I'd say use the student room and the medic portal websites to figure out what you need to know to apply to medical school and start from there! 🙂

Greek here!! On my first year at the state University of Cyprus. Just found your channel, I've been struggling lately so I needed some tips.
Also, if you read this, do you have any advice on working after a long day of lectures or placements, especially if you finish late (i.e. around 5pm)? For example, do you take a long break after lectures or do you go straight back to work after a short break? Classes can be exhausting and may not leave enough time to study on weekdays. That's been my main problem during the semester.
Welcome to the channel! I don't take a long break, just enough to eat and watch something quick 20/30m so I can get right back to it. Otherwise I'll get out of "working mode" 🙂
I too am quite a cosmopolitan person. My mum is thai. My dad is a Mauritian of indian indonesian and french background. Im quite ethnically ambiguous. I was born in toronto, canada. Moved to northern ireland at a young age when my mum remarried. Im all over the place haha

Yess haha I can see you’ve definitely mastered the UKCAT and that makes me comfortable in taking advice from you. In Australia, the UCAT has replaced our previous medical entry test (called the UMAT) and has thrown pre-meds into hysteria as this will be a newly encountered test as well as most students relied on preparatory courses that were primarily UMAT based. Now having to decipher the best UCAT/UKCAT resources to use as the legitimacy of these UMAT preparatory companies have been put into question claiming they have “UCAT experience”. Thank you so much though for your reassurance and I’ll be sure to let you know if I need anything!!! Love from 🇵🇸 and 🇦🇺 !

Haha yeah I'm really international! My mom's side is from Afghanistan (she was born and raised in Pakistan though because of the war), and my dad is from different villages in different provinces in Pakistan, and then I was born in Toronto, Canada, but raised in the Netherlands for the first 6 years of my life. Then for 11-12 years, I lived in Saudi Arabia, then moved to Muscat, Oman for 9 months, and now I'm living in Qatar! PHEW!

Hi great video! I was just wondering for a while now; after you initially got rejected from med schools for having a low UKCAT, how come you never took a gap year and re sat the UKCAT again? Cuz apparently your IB results were quite good so doing an undergrad degree wouldn't be necessary! (You would've saved at least 2-3 years of your life) Would love to know! Thank you!
Hey Adnan! Great question. It was honestly a lack of knowledge and enough foresight to see that if I took a gap year I was likely to get in the next time I applied. I was scared of the idea of sitting out of university for a full year and thought that since I would likely end up in Canada for my career, that doing my undergrad there and entering the Canadian medical school system would only help me. It was a bit of a rushed decision (I knew I was going to Canada about 2 weeks before the first day of the semester!)
In hindsight, if I took a gap year I think I would have definitely gotten in. But life is life and things happen! I've had the best time in Toronto and I wouldn't change my current path at all if I could do it all over again. I loved the experiences I gained.
In the big picture it is a very similar amount of time (8 vs 7) so I don't feel like I missed out. Everyone's path is different.
Canada: 4 years undergrad, 4 years med then straight to residency
UK: 5 years undergrad, 2 years as F1/F2 then residency

You could also add on how, as u mentioned earlier, that doing an undergrad degree kind of assessed you to be more prepared for Med school than undergraduate students, which basically is a good boost start!
Not only that but also you've exempted yourself from doing an intercalating degree, given that you've already got a degree!
The only downside of this path that you took is that it'll take u 9 years to get a medical degree (4 undergrad + 5 med school) but that isn't really an issue to take into account because as a Dr you'll never actually stop learning and time wouldn't really be relevant to consider! ;)

Yeah the point about being a graduate has definitely helped me out! Everyone's path to medicine is different. Some people on our course are over 30 and that's okay! We will all be doctor's in the end 😁 Thanks brother 🙏🏼
