  • In the review of the SK1, I noted a handful of firmware issues with the SK1 during my tests. As I released the video, TwoTrees released a version 2.0.0.21 of the firmware. I wanted to put it to the test to see if this firmware update resolves all of those issues.

    Holy crap that update process is a dealbreaker on top of any other potential cons when considering this machine. It may be only 220^3 for reasons but I'll stick with my Flashforge 5M when it comes to (mini) P1 clones. What were they thinking?

    SK1-2.0.2.17 FIRMWARE contains a *lot* of fixes to issues.
    It even does the thumbnails! ;-)

    I've been working with another 'toy' Sovol SV08 until I broke it now back to the twotrees, firmware helped but I ran out of filament, head parked left rear, klipper showed "Paused" but no direction on what the do. I pushed new filament in until it flashed then told klipper to restart. It started printing but not extruding filament, I pushed on the filament until I could feel the extruder pulling. I am getting the 'weird errors', I'm looking for some cable now.

    Glad you followed up on this, mine came with 2.0 and has been running great. Overall, I'm very happy with it especially at the sale price. I hope their enclosure comes out soon, but the foam pads that it shipped in make a great makeshift enclosure lol. Really want to try some ASA printing on it.

    • @HoffmanEngineering
      @HoffmanEngineering  7 месяцев назад

      The enclosure would be nice, and with all the mounts already on the printer it should be an easy install. Glad it's working out for you!

    At least you got it to work. My buddy works for a group that got one and they never got past the sheet of paper phase of the initial leveling calibration. They showed me and when you hit the arrows to move it the bed up or down, it would just wiggle the bed down and back up each time. A step down and then a step back up. There were issues with the shipment and stuff too but I don't wan to get him trouble in case he wasn't supposed to tell me ;)

    • @HoffmanEngineering
      @HoffmanEngineering  6 месяцев назад

      The wiggle is supposed to happen (during the paper phase). It confused me at first too. These exact numbers are made up, but it'll move down like 1.0mm then back up 0.8mm (or move down 1.0mm and up 1.2mm). So keep adjusting and you'll see it's actually moving in the right direction over a number of presses.

      @@HoffmanEngineering I sat there watching him do it. Pressing it numerous times and it didn't seem to budge at all. Interesting as they had scrapped everything due to that and never moved forward with what they were doing. I'll have to let him know. Maybe he can measure the distance with a laser or something.

    • @ProAudioLLC
      @ProAudioLLC 6 месяцев назад

      @@HoffmanEngineering I let him know. They tried it again and it worked through enough patience. But then he said it kept emergency stopping out of nowhere with every print. Even with "the latest 2.0 firmware" (I guess thats the most recent), it is filled with glitches and troubles. The company should try much harder at making sure the product is ready before releasing something like that into the wild.

    I have to ask.
    How good is this printer for 'full' bed stocking.
    I have a Neptune 4 and its ability to do multiple parts using a good portion of the bed just sucks no matter how much tweeking is done.
    The Neptune 4 is good for one off parts but that is about it.
    I need to print multiple parts (same part) but would at lest get more than 4 on the bed.
    What has been your experience using most of the bed and having parts 'stick' at least 95% of the time on the first layer?
    Cheers.

    • @HoffmanEngineering
      @HoffmanEngineering  7 месяцев назад

      I don't often print full bed prints like that, but I did print 5 articulated prints for gifts in a single go. Things like the flexi octopus, dragon, dinosaur, onyx, etc. Those had to roughly 75 separate joints all being printing at the same time, and I didn't have any adhesion issues with any segment. Since the bed doesn't move, adhesion is pretty good.

      @@HoffmanEngineering yeah I haven’t found anything either. I’m really considering getting one. Just the not vanilla Klipper gives me pause.
