Totally agree with Breadman. Just because Madrimov employed hand probes, feints, foot movement, does not mean he won the rounds, off of all that movement and feinting there was very little end product. Bud in my opinion won fairly comfortably.

When a fighter defends, blocks and/or avoids numerous punches throughout a fight, it’s noteworthy when a punch connects. Noteworthy, meaning it’s a significant occurrence. But some fans, commentators and even some judges look at that and think a fighter is doing better than they actually are. That is exactly what happened to Bud in this fight. Some people saw Madrimov connect with several good shots and (in their minds) converted that into winning a round that Crawford hit Madrimov more times. Ummm … that’s not how boxing is scored. Boxing is based on a point system
What I saw was Crawford 9 to Madrimov 3 … how anyone sees it differently is beyond me.
Crawford versus Alvarez? Come on, now. Let’s be real. Crawford is a special fighter. It would certainly be competitive. If Khan, Kovalev, Plant and Bivol can win round after round on Canelo, you really think Bud has no chance? Wow. Crawford has just as good a chin at 154+ … ain’t going to turn glass suddenly if he moves to 168.

I want to preface this comment with Breadman is one of the most respected people/opinions in all of boxing (hence the reason I clicked on the video). He is technically right, however the onus IS on the challenger to beat the champion if there are close rounds. There is no rule, but I do believe this is how most fight fans, and even judges score fights. I think this only applicable with tight, close, swing rounds.

brilliant take. i swear i saw it the same way. i had him winning 9-10 rounds. looked like they gave madrimov 10 points for every one hard punch landed. he would land 3 hard punches in a round while catching 15 clean jabs. only disagreement was i think crawford would beat canelo easier. that constant feinting and fast right is different than ive seen. madrimov had 350 amateur fights and it showed. that man was literally like the Rocky of Uzbekistan

Breadman, Breadman, Breadman, You speak of Willy Pep, a guy who fought Pauly Jackson twice in Pottsville PA. whom many of that era said Pauly beat Willy, but he had to beat him down in order to win. Contrary to what you might think - there was a time when a fighter had to beat a champion decisively in order to get the win. Boxing is not as corrupt as it use to be _but it still needs some work, i. e. PED's and weight bullying.

I feel like crawford won the fight 8-4. But it's not a stupid rule. Its built on emotion & fan psyche in the same way we think of home field advantage or a fighter fighting in his hometown as a leg up on the challenger. Or the same way an incumbent politician is thought to have an advantage over a newcomer. Its a built in awareness & expectation & benefit to the champ. The newcomers in each scenario have to do more to convince us. It just so happened that the challenger had more history & reputation than the champ in this fight. ...But its def a legitimate concept. Not stupid.

When defining the best of an era, we need to distinguish between resume quality and P4P lineage. For example, Canelo's resume might be stronger than Crawford's, Canelo hasn’t held the number 1 P4P spot as long as Crawford. During the era in which both have been active, Crawford has been the number 1 P4P for much longer.
Looking back, if we’re identifying the top P4P fighters of the decade or post-Mayweather era, it’s clear that Andre Ward and then Terence Crawford more consistently. Canelo can’t be considered the predominant P4P fighter after Mayweather. We must clarify whether we’re talking about resume quality or overall P4P status. However, to fairly assess Crawford’s accolades, it’s important to note that he’s a 2-division undisputed, something neither Canelo nor Pacquiao have done. He may even become a 3-time undisputed champion, a historic accomplishment. Additionally, Crawford has no losses like Canelo or Pacquiao, nor has he had close fights requiring rematches. So there’s an argument

  • @thomaswonderwood9826

Crawford doesn't have the footwork to contend with Mayweather. Nor does he have the boxing IQ of the when, why and the how to contend with Mayweather. That was shown in Crawford's 54 pound debut. Mayweather would've feinted and used footwork against Madrimov earlier in the fight, then towards the middle of the fight would've been in the pocket walking Madrimov down. It's hard to feint when you're on your back foot.

Breadman was Plant’s special trainer against Benivedez, look what happened to Plant!
Most of the black commentators/boxers refuse to believe that Crawford was punching air most of the time and his one trick pony (countering) didn’t work. Madrimov literally ended Crawford’s BSng in terms of Canelo fight and Crawford himself knew he lost and has said to Madrimov we will have rerun it as he himself knows the win was handed to him by a biased American system. You have to beat a Champion convincingly & Crawford is a so called hyped p4p 40-0 with bunch of easy fights and one low blow against khan vs. a 10-0 pro that cleaned his clock. Keep crying as Jared learned his lesson ! many fake hyped boxers will evaporate early in their fake careers as Saudi has changed the game and promotions will not be able to hype Crawford types moving into the future

Madrimov won this fight. You're crazy if you think otherwise. Madrimov landed that straight right all night and bud had no answer. Bud's body work was amazing because he literally couldn't hit Madrimov in the head, hence why Crawford missed 80% of his punches.

Wow…gaslighting the public. He lost. In every meaningful category he lost. Power punches lost. Percentage jabs lost power punch percentage lost. Total punch percentage lost. He took 23 more power punches to the head than Madrimov. Let that sink in. Free shots…power punches…to the head…23!!! By contrast Crawford’s one real win was 11 extra punches landed, all jabs, vs those 23 power punches to his head. He won? How? He didn’t control the fight. Madrimov was in front of him all night. Again for the math challenged… Crawford landed 21.9 % of all punches 17.9 of his jabs. So he won by missing 82% of his jabs and 78% of all his punches? Seriously…? You’re high!!! Madrimov controlled the fight. He wobbled Crawford in the 12th when Crawford tried to come after him, getting pot shot right the rest of the way, until the final 20 seconds when he finally engaged again. But you think he won? BS. I picked Crawford in this fight. If you’re honest you know he lost. And I’d bet dollars to dimes on a real punch stats breakdown instead of this fake compubox junk…he lost on that total also. It’s really pathetic people blowing all this smoke for him. This is what ruin’s boxing.
