    Lawson bolts are what I use a lot of. Nice head like a Cat bolt. They also can get you any style washer you want etc.
    As far as Caseco.....they’re in my hometown and quality has improved dramatically. I think they’re like everybody else they build a couple different “levels” of body and well they have some not so good people working there as well.....
    Funny thing....last years calendar that wasn’t the yellow iron.....one particular month is still on display in my service truck haha. I kept cutting pages off and the year progressed! I hope 2019’s are just as good!
    Keep up the good work!

    They're not CAT bolts, but for certain applications (vermeer wood chippers with cummins engines) I order bolts from the manufacturer.

    On my service truck I'm running a hydraulic motor direct drive compressor much like your new one to a couple of air receiver tanks. The crane isn't used as often so it works off a diverter valve so I can power either compressor or crane. The crane doesn't need as much oil flow as the compressor so its oil runs through a flow regulator valve. On the rare occasion when I need both crane and air at the same time, the receiver tanks hold enough air for a couple of minutes use.
    I agree with you on the Cat hardware. I've never seen another manufacturer supply the tall bolt head and compact hard washers. And believe me, I've looked.

    • @Jpaydirt
      @Jpaydirt  5 лет назад

      Do you use an oil cooler?

    • @princebatswater
      @princebatswater 5 лет назад

      @@Jpaydirt No I don't. My hydraulic tank is suspended between the chassis rails so is open to the air on all six sides which must help with the cooling. I can't say I've ever taken a temperature reading but the filter is in in the control cabinet and every time I've felt the temperature, it hasn't given me any cause for concern. The compressor gets run for maybe half hour at a time max.

The 340 fwhp wasn't enough power to pull the grapevine to L.A. as fast as bigger hp engines, i.e. the famous 1693. These engines wore the side of the big ends of the connecting rods.

    Dick Foster told me years ago that heavy use of PTO required using the more bolts required hook-up on the transmission. We have a lot of loggers who really use the PTO hard. up here. Below zero cold weather on the oil requires more stress on the pump drive gears.
    I understand why you do not want auxiliary engines in the winter. The gasoline and the cold make them stall out and hard to restart from the moisture icing up the air cleaners and carburetors. Centrifugal Clutches are neede to start the engines in the cold, so the starter is not also turning the attached pumps and etc.

    You' re correct : in gearing, when speed increases, torque decreases. On the cruise /pto switch : on transit coaches they have a high idle switch. A toggle switch that supplies a voltage input, to the PTO circuit at the ecm. Thinking this how your set up is. It's either on or off. Maybe there is something in the parameters for pto that could be set with inside ?

    I'll bet between you and that fellow across the pond you guys could just about fix anything.My father worked for Norwalk Truck Lines as a mechanic in the 60's they ran some Ford two story Falcon cabovers with Cats in them.I wonder if this was the same engine.He said they were always having problems.Thanks for the video Jeff.

      Not my most liked engine, used in the 980 wheel loader before they switched to the 3306 in the 980B.
      Most likely the fords had a 1674 engine, same bore and stroke as the 1676.@@Jpaydirt

    All our Cummins powered trucks that we have beds on we use the cruise for setting our throttle up. Yes they have a max rpm but that can be set in the emc setup. May need to run her over to the Cummins store to have them program what your looking for.

      Ohhh my my there’s a nice one in White Bear Lake, Mn.....lol Personally I’m a Cat man but for some odd reason we keep buying trucks with M11’s.... Our classic is an 80 freight shaker 3406 mech running 570hp to the ground thru 13spd and 3.70 rears running 24.5 tall rubber. The 13th hole was a nice overdrive at 75+mph. Little mirror on top of main mirror was for seeing how fast we were burning dinosaurs. Pete air leaf and 280 wheelbase. Super nice old girl.

    Thank god you sent that gasket set pre-Covid, in 2022 that plywood would have cost you more than the gaskets did 😂

    Wow, I'm surprised to see that big v-8 has a flat plane crank....and it looks like about 60-70 degrees on the banks.....must make for oddball firing intervals!
