    I have a few questions:
    How do these patents apply? That is, if one formulates outside the parameters established in the patent, is one safe from copyright? Should we get out of each and every one of them or is it possible to change some elements and that's it? Where and how do these restrictions apply? Where in the patent is it mentioned whether the formula is irreplicable, whether it is impossible to monetize it, and so on?

    • @boldpatents
      @boldpatents  4 года назад

      Eduardo, great questions :) yes, you as the applicant have copyright protection on your writings, but the heart of patent law is to secure the exclusive rights to make, use, and sell your invention. I think we should chat to get longer-form answers to your questions. Email or schedule a consult: jd@boldip.com

      As an LLM student in the UK, I would like to know if it is possible for a food recipe to be eligible for a patent?!
      Thank you for your help.❤😘 @@boldpatents

    • @boldpatents
      @boldpatents  4 месяца назад

      Yes, its possible. It's just rare that a truly novel composition of matter or product-by-process exists in the food industry, since there is a huge body of prior art. Also, because certain combinations of foods are not detectable or reverse-engineerable, they are often protected instead by trade secrets.@@yojnasingh3529

    Hi, thank you for your video. So if getting a patent doesn't make you money directly, what does? For instance what's it called when artists or other people that acted in or produced a movie or show and when someone else does something new with it they get paid passive income from it? And how does that work? Thank you in advance

    • @j.d.houvener6868
      @j.d.houvener6868 3 года назад

      You bet! You make money three major ways: by enforcing your rights against infringers so you have a monopoly on the market (for a limited time); by licensing some/all of your patent rights (right to make, use, sell, or import) and receiving royalties; and by selling the patent rights all together (also called assignment). The legal rights you are talking about with actors is related to copyright law and derivative works.

    Does a US patent protect from outside countries, selling in the US. Or only from other US based companies?

    • @boldpatents
      @boldpatents  Год назад

      No, unfortunately, a US patent only prevents anyone else from making, using, selling, or importing your patented product into the US.

    Hello H.D. Great Video Sir! I have an Idea that I know Google Maps would love to have as a feature mostly because it's in that space and they have the technology. I would like to Sell them the patent for this Idea. Only because I do not have the funds and the time to learn the programming required. I know this needs to come out fast before someone else comes up with the Idea. This could be an app all on its own or a feature of Google Maps. What should be my first step? Thank you!!

      Hey Lisset! Thanks for watching. You should try to raise money to hire an attorney! I know...I'm a little biased :) There are a lot of places to get money: friends and family, banks (SBA loans), business partners, private investors, etc. Before raising money, be sure to educate yourself on patent law. I've curated a great youtube library here for you. You can also check out our blog: boldip.com/blog/

    To make the story short patent is most likely a monopoly. I think somebody can bribe officials, anyway its just my intuition.

    • @boldpatents
      @boldpatents  4 года назад +1

      Hey Guiller - well, you are CORRECT! This is actually a federally sanctioned monopoly. Note, it is limited to 15-20 years though. The government gives away this huge reward to any inventor that shares what they've developed with the rest of the world, thus incentivizing us all to become smarter. The USPTO is an administration, and there are people behind it, and yes, people are prone to bias and influence. However, I highly doubt there is any bribing going on in that institution, and there are enough checks/balances that it would be obvious if it did occur.
