- Gary, the beloved pet of SpongeBob SquarePants, appeared on Cartoon Network in 2005. As a direct reference to the "Where's Gary?" episode of SpongeBob, Cartoon Network's marketing team decided to have some fun in their competition with Nickelodeon.

It's always cool to see the two networks interact with each other 👀
Woah
yeah it's cool, good, and nice
I guess

I don’t watch either channels as they’re just to vibrant and silly all the time
How did I miss this, especially when I used to watch both networks back-to-back as a child?

CN: *steals Gary*
Nickelodeon: Gary, come home!
Good one lol
A Nickelodeon character appearing on Cartoon Network was the last thing I thought would ever happen. If that is the case, maybe Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network should work together to make a crossover episode where all the characters from both Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon would get involved.
My brother in Christ, *Learning with Pibby.*
@@danielribeiro9678 that’s only CN/Boomerang characters I believe
Yeah they should Crossover more
@@21kClxoudy they included a spongebob background
That would be a LOT of shows
honestly he should be everywhere.

Just like Psychic Friend Fredbear. 🤣
Gary on the moon
**clicks**
True
Actually the snail in the promotion looks more close to one of the snails in the actual episode, during the scene where gary is approached by the street snails.
Omg you’re right. One of those gangster snails if I remember correctly.
Uhhhh, no it doesn't. I've rewatched the episode and I have not seen a blue-shelled snail.
@@ericpratt984 “more close” not exact
@@RepressedButton Yeah, no stiff it looks "more close". It's a slug with a shell on top. Just like the other snails in that episode.
@@ericpratt984 you just said it doesnt, now youre saying its just like the other snails in the episode. make up your mind
Gary heard about how the CN characters broke into Nickelodeon, so he went onto CN to get revenge. But he heavily disguised himself to avoid copyright.
clever
Let's Just Say That Gary The Snail Didn't Take Kindly To That
I’ll never forget all the hype at the time before Have You Seen This Snail aired. Nickelodeon aired SpongeBob marathons with episodes that were mostly about Gary. Yeah, those were fun times. Have You Seen This Snail (aka Where’s Gary) is such a great episode. One of my all time favorites.
man I missed it by 3 years
@@redyoshi4687 so did I
I feel honoured to have been watching spongebob almost my whole life now 😌

I was born like 4 months after SpongeBobs 1st episode. I am glad to be raised with SpongeBob. I love SpongeBob. He is my favorite cartoon character.
@@Hunter-fh7kf wow lol
I vividly remember seeing a TV rip of the Foster’s episode where they plan to go to Europe. The snail is on screen right at the part where Mr. Herriman says “Time zones?”
The current thumbnail is beyond cursed. Gary's right eye covers the whole in the "C" making it looking like pacman going after a forbidden pellet
I remember that too…it was basically to get people to tune in on Nick to watch the new episode. Also a series of a show was premiering with the same snail…it didn’t last long but it’s a series that is basically left in the past.
That snail looks like something straight out-of ‘AAAHH!!! Real Monsters’.
Cartoon network and nickelodeon will always be Competitors
Cartoon Network really took Gary come home to a whole other level
Even tho they're like the biggest rivals in TV, Nick used to actually air a few Cartoon Network shows here in germany a few years ago.
Let’s call this payback for the Cartoon Cartoon Fridays promo.
Everyone loves -my- OUR boy Gary
Lol
Gary The Snail appeared on Cartoon Network in the same year LeapFrog: Learn To Read At The Storybook Factory was released on DVD!
This is a certified TV moment.
The Gary leaving home episode is kinda relatable for me atm, cuz my dog got lost away recently, and I’m sad hoping she’s okay
2000's promotions were something else
Gary also appeared in the MAD segment Mad vs. Wild
The power of Gary isn't confined to one channel
I love how his name is simply named Gary.
So unique
Some of the characters have made up names while others have real names
I love this I wished Cartoon Network characters and Nickelodeon characters would interact more it would be amazing to have events or something it would break the internet
Or get them to have a rivalry of the networks again, including bringing back the older cartoons that made what both networks are today. Just to deliver something interesting
That reminds me of the time I imagined that Cartoon Network and Nick merged into one huge channel
Me too it would be very exciting
interact more? when have they ever had a crossover? the reason it's rare is cuz theyre rivals. they dont want to interact
@@MsDudette21 they have been rivals for 2 decades at this point after that amount of time has passed you would start to respect your rival and want to interact
It is bizarre to me because there was a time when both Networks were just going at them
I remember seeing that bootleg Gary back in the day~
Yes! Another That Time Episode! It has been a LOOONG time since you last made one.
*Meow!*
He has such a way with words!
a parody of gary did appear on the CN show MAD. It was an episode that had a bear grills character trying to survive in the wild and he ate gary before spitting him out
CN took "Gary, Come Home" to a whole new level.
That "Gary come Home" special got me sad for SpongeBob. That song they made was catchy and sad to hear.
I remember seeing Gary on a cn show called mad where he appeared on a bear grylls parody on to be eaten by him
Considering the fate of the snails in Granny's house, I like to think that this is one of the snails that managed to escape and just went to CN as refuge, hence the sign.
That dexter video isn’t the only piece of footage of the Gary thing, if you watch a rant or a clip of the fosters home episode “Foster’s goes to Europe” ripped from a TV airing (Specifically Raymond Reviews’ rant video on it.), the Gary CN thing takes up about half the screen for about half the episode.
So SpongeBob is basically minorly canon to all CN shows…. I’m not sure what to think of that
@@Beyondthe5thPanel and the pibby thing further proves this
Thats actually a pretty cool event, I hope something similar to this happens maybe soon!
Why am I thinking that Gary the Snail is probably looking to hide at Cartoon Network Studios after the whole Los Angeles Police-Nickelodeon Studios fiasco mentioned in the Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers movie?
This is making me feel like that Captain Putty’s false Tip actions lead to many Nickelodeon cartoon characters being traumatized including said Snail!
It actually would have made sense for the real Gary to appear on CN since he was lost. It's a shame the two networks didn't cross promote
Well now everybody knows about Gary on CN thanks to this video
The snail kind of looks like one of the snails that was in the SpongeBob episode “Gary in Love.”
I actually remember seeing that! I thought it was from spongebob too, as in, if not Gary then it looked like a snail side character, but I also thought I must be wrong it's just a coincidence or something, because even as a kid I knew how copyright and rival brands work. But it stuck with me as odd, because they don't put these weird screen decorations that cover up part of a live episode unless there was something special about it or it was an ad for something.
Well I guess Gary can travel through dimensions
I wonder how many kids would've shit their pants in surprise if they actually saw Gary at the bottom of the screen, promoting the SpongeBob special?
Let's just call CN's Gary "Boey"
ever heard of the phrase "the world is changing" from avengers?
yeah, the world is changing, FAST.
I remember that snail thing when I was kid at that time lol man can’t believe I still remember lol
Gary is love Gary is life
I wish I could see gary the snail on cartoon network and seeing the two networks interact was great!
First we had spongebob rehydrated, then the yummer mystery, and now this cartoon network crossover. This is most likely going to be the next spongebob mystery that takes the internet by storm
I... MUST... GO... GET... THE... SALT!!
*walks to get salt while CN gets concerned for my sanity*
I have a bunch of old cartoon network VHS recordings in my basement from around 2005 to 2007. Ill see if i can find the snail on one of them
I know they're direct competition, but I wish CN and Nickelodeon worked nice together to at the very least have fun ads on each others channels. Like I loved the one where the CN lineup Johnny Bravo, Double D, Baboon, Courage acted like they were in forbidden territory sneaking into Nickelodeon to advertise their stuff. Like it'd be fun to see the inverse one day show some Nicktoons sneak into the old CN neighborhood or like the Friday nights set.
Cartoon network: We'Re NoT SuPpOsEd To bE iN ThIs ChAnNeL!.!.!
Reference gary: *IT'S PAYBACK TIME*
Nickelodeon: I want to sue you.....
Cartoon Netowrk:
CN Gary looks terrifying! I love it!
SpongeBob: Gary where are you doing?
Gary the snail: meow.
Reminds me of when Cartoon Network invaded Nickelodeon back in the 2000s
Gary is an icon
Never thought I'd ever see this happen, but cool!
I can't Believe They made a slightly Possible Reference to Gary in Dexter's Laboratory in the Same Year "Have you seen this snail?" was made.
I remember watching cartoon network and that snail popping up a few times.
CN: A snail pops up to promote us!
Vailskibum: gary???
In addition to all the references on MAD and Robot Chicken (yes, I’ll be counting Adult Swim):
In Teen Titans Go, Dr. Light summons a giant squid that is the same teal color as Squidward and has the same eyes as him. Additionally, Dr. Light is voiced by Rodger Bumpass, who voices Squidward.
In Uncle Grandpa, Tommy imagines himself working at a fast food restaurant similar to the Krusty Krab, and there’s even a green Squidward with one eye.
In Billy and Mandy, there’s a demon creature thing that looks like SpongeBob.
In one episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Meatwad says he wants a SpongeBob bounce house. In another episode, Master Shake is try to come up with an idea for a story, and Meatwad suggests one about a sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea. Master Shake says that’s been done before.
In Learning With Pibby, while glitching between shows, Pibby appears in SpongeBob’s bathroom.
In the live action movie R.L. Stein’s The Haunting Hour: Don’t Think About It, Max has a SpongeBob toy in his bedroom.
The movies Zathura and Alvin and the Chipmunks have both aired on Cartoon Network, and both have scenes with the main characters watching SpongeBob.
It’d be cool if we got Cartoon Network vs Nick fighter. Maybe a sequel to Nick All-Star Brawl.
@Kevin Green nobody asked for your opinion
@Kevin Green I didn’t
Remember when Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon had good fun and references at each other You never really see that outside of adult cartoons now.
Did you hear that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl now has voice acting and items?
Update: The uploader of the original video said that he's sure he digitized the whole VHS tape, but he has to find it again. Also, he's currently busy with two of his jobs so it might take a while.
What would have really been cool is if during or around the time of Have You Seen This Snail’s premiere, missing posters of Gary would have been on the screen all over different networks, maybe even a scene in an episode of a cartoon would be edited slightly to have a missing poster of Gary.
News update--Nintendo has trademarked "Nintendo studios" for films! Looks like we may be getting more nintendo films!
Sorry if I'm 6 days late but...
The Spongebob lore was introduced on Cartoon Newtork a long time ago, it only appeared into one show, which is MAD (The Cartoon Network's version of Robot Chicken.) There are sketches on MAD that Spongebob characters appear, one of them is from the sketch "WALL-ENATOR" (Parody of Wall-E and Terminator) Spongebob appears on that sketch, the specific plot for that is Spongebob appears fat and he says that he had eaten too many Krabby Patties and then Wall-E appears to put Spongebob inside him to turn him back into a square.
Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon crossover be like:
You know, for having the name Garry I strangely do not almost never get told, “Hey, you have the same name as Gary the snail.” I think it’s happened like twice or 3 times
Maybe because it's Garry with a double R.
@@KrabbyPatty99Archive probably
@@behindthescenesofthe8-bitg789 Then you probably at one point got associated with Garry's Mod.
@@KrabbyPatty99Archive I’ve never been lol, but I’ve been WATING for the day
Bro it’s like the cody wrestlemaina return but It’s Gary debuting in Cartoon Network 😂😂😂
I’m surprised that Nickelodeon didn’t mind it, to be honest
CN "Gary" is horrifying omg
"Meow"

The Cartoon Network Show Gary Apparently Appeared in was MAD
SpongeBob: Gary! Come home!
Cartoon Network: Ha! Gary go burrrrrr
Chip n Dale showed there can still be a multiple network crossover with all the references to Nickelodeon, so here's hoping there's more like that in the future.
I mean... I've seen snails in cartoons before SpongeBob. Heck, Franklin had a snail chararacter. And the one episode of Oggy and the Cockroaches was focused around snails.
It's not really Gary. That's just how they draw snails.
ayy a oggy and the cockroaches fan
Bruh that ain't Gary the snail thats Terry the disappointment💀
gary now got lost and it walked to cartoon network
Imagine if Gary actually ran away to CN?
Gary
That was my video and I have the actual VHS recording somewhere. I'm sure I digitized that whole tape at one point but I'll have to find it again. Currently I'm working two jobs and don't have much time, so it might be a while, but if I can find it again I'll post a better version of that clip
Cn should have a Gary the snail special
this reminds me of when the flash supposedly died in crisis but technically appeared in marvel without his memories and with the name “Buried Alien”
I actually remember that weird little snail.
I was surprised that Gary was on the network but it was a parody of him
I love this crossover so much
Gary had a cameo on MAD as well. (More specifically the MAD vs Wild episode)
He Did Appear On Cartoon Network's MAD, the Episode Being: MAD Vs. Wild.
I mean I remember seeing Adventure Time commercials on Nickelodeon
gary must've went missing 'cause he went to work for cartoon network! 💀
*GARY!!! PLEASE COME BACK, GARY!!! PLEASE COME HOME!!! I'M A WRECK WITHOUT YOU!!!*
GARY COME HOME!!
That Snail Has "Shell Shocked" Cartoon Network!
Cartoon Network saw all the advertising an events and wanted to throw in a small easter egg
Vail: Do you remember the SpongeBob special "Gary Come Home?"
Someone in 2005 sobbing* : Yeah *sniff* I wonder what happened to SpongeBob pe-.
Vail: Well Cartoon Network kidnapped him.
Someone in 2005: THOSE LITTLE-!
