Fun story that makes me sympathize with Squidward at the claw game: I was at Dave and Buster’s with a large group of my friends a few months ago, and there was this crane game called “The Big One” that gave players plastic rings, either a red one worth 250 tickets or a green one for 500. There was this one kid with his friends who was basically both SpongeBob and Squidward in this episode. He stayed at that game for hours, and he hardly ever missed. People eventually ended up asking him to help them, and he helped me and even gave me one of his 500 ticket rings because he had over 15 of them on hand. I got the prizes I wanted thanks to him. That kid is a skilled legend.

Regardless oh how you feel about seasons 4-13, it can’t be denied that Have You Seen This Snail? is one of the saddest and most realistic episodes of SpongeBob. It’s genuinely heartbreaking to see our favorite sponge who’s normally so cheerful and happy so upset and depressed. All of us who had a pet once before have felt this exact pain when they either passed away or ran away from home and never came back…
So a fun fact (most people who are claw machine aficionados know this): Claw machines are actually programmed difficulty based on on the owners. You can set the strength of the claw to make it have crap all grab and always drop everything, and then say “after 1000 uses, set grip to max strength”. Of course, there’s your story also shows that some companies can be fair about it and not rig the system.
I feel like Squidward is the type of character we can relate to and feel bad for but at the same time, we hate his guts whenever he has his unhinged moments. Like he has shitty behavior but he's also someone who suffers from depression and unfulfilled dreams. In short, he's a complicated character.

Have You Seen This Snail, was oddly hyped up as a 30 minute special back in the day by Nickelodeon, they even had a timer counting down to it and occasionally during commercial breaks there was an announcer asking "Where's Gary?". I remember it counting down while I was watching a Danny Phantom episode. Both The Fairly Oddparents & Danny Phantom, had movies with count downs by Nick that same year, 2005 was a hype year for me as a kid watching Nick, even Avatar TLA released that year. C:
From what I read they said they actually had to change the scene where the old lady chases Gary with cookies and devil eggs because in the original script they put she was supposed to chase him with an axe like DAMN!!!!! And still seeing all the dead snail shells was creepy and scary enough lol.
The Gary Come Home episode was the first time I remember seeing Nickelodeon hyping up a new release as a kid. There were so many teasers and commercials for it that were dramatic and engulfing. Great episode
11:17 Not gonna lie, I always took this scene as her fattening up the snails so that she could eat them. I don’t know why, but it just kinda set in with me.
Their crane story reminds of an arcade. I’ve always been to honest and a bit loud when I’m excited…not to mention it’s hard to hide when you have found that Sweet spot on a game. it was one of those games with a arm that pushes out at a certain time on the press of a button possibly pushing out a weird like Puck. I found out the timing using some of the spots as rough sort of “timers” and won like a couple thousand that way…then they sent us away and shut off the machine for “maintenance”. Came back some weeks later and it now had weird buffers that shifted the pucks around more. Before that it would just tilt them back in and have a sort of angled wedge like bumper on a quarter of it to keep them centered
I couldn't find my cat anywhere around my house one day and was so terrified that she ran out somehow when I took my dog outside. I looked for over 45 minutes trying to find her abd broke down crying on the floor. Then, while laying on the floor, I saw green eyes staring at me from under my (formally my grandmothers' old rocking chair) I didnt think she could fit under there, but she was stuck under the supports of the chair and that's why she didn't come to me when I called her. Needless to say I lifted the chair off of her and carried her in my arms crying and kissing her for the next 15 to 20 minutes.
Dude, you be shock how cat can fit into very tight space. Back when i was in high school, my teachers ask me to catch one of the school cat. Apperently, the cat have been "smuggle" her babies into the teachers office to make as her house. So, when she try to take her last kitten into the office, i follow her and she go into under the tables and somehow, get in between the pile of boxes under the tables. At first, i have a hard time take the boxes away becuase it so heavy but then i remember "Wait a minute, cats love boxes but not the one that heavy, been duct tape and close tight like this..." So, i go to the other side of the tables, it a dead end, so i try to open each drawer and found out that the cat has been staying with her four kitten inside of the drawer. I more shock over the fact that the cat have been living with her kittens inside a cramp drawer. There still use papers and office supply in that drawer. At the end, i give the teacher the cat and her kittens so she can take them home....
Huge chunks of Balsa wood? Damn. Earlier this week I ran all over town looking for balsa wood and couldn't find any. So I can actually share Patrick's excitement there a bit.
Ah… that last episode… the one I personally consider the first true Squidward torture porn. All the other times before Squidward either deserved what happened or at the very least brought it on himself. Not here… guy just wanted to enjoy his Sunday 😢
11:35 Huh, I've never thought of that... The mind of my childhood self must be so messed, cuz I used to think that the Grandma fed the snails so that she could *eat* bigger snails.
"Gary Comes Home" is the most saddest yet relaxing cartoon song that is enough to make a grown man can cry. Same goes with Sandy's Texas song ("I Wanna Go Home").
Lemme say, if Patrick casually munching on expired milk grosses you out that much, I'm not sure if y'all are ready for what's to come in the later seasons. Lol
Damn, I remember I was banned from watching cartoons such as SpongeBob for example cause of this episode in particular "Have you seen this Snail?" cause it had me balling my eyes out but then again there was also courage doing the same thing with the sad untitled music in the "remembrance of courage" episode
I always assumed she was fattening up the snails to eat them. I saw someone else comment that that was the original idea, but they wanted to change the implication. I guess they didn't do a good enough job lmao. Now I'm gonna actually ask my friends what their interpretations were. 27:17 Why yes...yes i did lmao

23:12 He tried that in “Opposite Day” but the real estate agent refused after meeting SpongeBob and Patrick and may have even blacklisted him as a client 😂
If you guys think Patrick eating the curdled milk is bad, just wait until season 6 for episodes like House Fancy and athe Splinter. No mental preparation will save you all from that…
I really hated the later seasons for that. I hated the minigolf episode specially because of him suffering for doing absolute nothing. And the driving school episode is also one i despise.
I find it really ironic that Skill Crane, an episode where Squidward is justifiably punished for being an arrogant douchebag, is immediately followed up by Good Neighbors, an episode where Squidward just wanted to enjoy his day off and gets harassed for no good reason
You know what’s funny about the crane episode is that in the second episode of season 1 bubblestand squidward has the same behavior because he gave SpongeBob a fake quarter until he realized he couldn’t blow a bubble then he ran through a bunch of quarters in his pocket trying to blow one until he did the technique
In the original version of this episode she chased Gary with an axe and it was implied that she was eating her snails after fattening them up. They changed it to her feeding them to death because they thought it was too dark.
16:40 duuude I love claw machines. My mom bought me a miniature one for my room that you could fill with fidget toys, candy, key chains, and extra small stuffed animals. (It was great until the mice in our house crawled inside and pooped all over it and it’s impossible to clean so I threw it out) I’m not any better at them than most people. I was better when I was younger, I swear some of the machines I go to as an adult make the claw’s grip weaker than it used to be but maybe I’m just worse now. Either way they’re so fun.
Went to an arcade a little bit ago, spent $120… meanwhile the prizes in the claw machines you can get off Amazon… for a few dollars. What sucks with arcades now is the ticket prizes are garbage 😭 It’s only fun playing a select few games and then none of the prizes are good
Have you seen this Snail is the BEST episode of Season 4 Everyone is quick to diss Season 4 since its after the movie but this episode is such a good one, top 10 in SpongeBob history

From what I read they said they actually had to change the scene where the old lady chases Gary with cookies and devil eggs because in the original script they put she was supposed to chase him with an axe like DAMN!!!!! And still seeing all the dead snail shells was creepy and scary enough lol.
I love these episodes especially the special. Also yes I'm a fan of Squidward because I feel sorry for him.
The Gary Come Home episode was the first time I remember seeing Nickelodeon hyping up a new release as a kid. There were so many teasers and commercials for it that were dramatic and engulfing. Great episode
Although squidward is a complete phycho I dont hate him for it, having spongebob and partic as neighbors for 20 years would drive anyone insane
11:17
Not gonna lie, I always took this scene as her fattening up the snails so that she could eat them. I don’t know why, but it just kinda set in with me.
I'm definitely a squidward stan because Spongebob is way more of an a-hole in my opinion, even if it is without him knowing.
@syabilaazri7834 Yeah, well, she's my first cat, and I was still learning. I know better now.
16:48 Last Dave n Buster's I went to had a Rubber Duck claw machine, 100% chance of winning. You should do it, become Lucifer
Gary come home has been remixed so many times. It's a whole bop. I love the punk version of that song
1:06 I saw this episode hundreds of times and I never realized that the paddle ball set was made by "Nickelodeon inc.".
11:35 Huh, I've never thought of that...
The mind of my childhood self must be so messed, cuz I used to think that the Grandma fed the snails so that she could *eat* bigger snails.
No, you were correct on that. The entire episode gave me Hansel and Gretel vibes.
The "Gary Come Home" episode hits different, after losing my dog after 13 years last late October. Only difference, my best friend can't comeback.
I don’t remember ever watching these episodes, and now that I have, I don’t think I’d ever want to re-watch them again.
Why not?
27:17 wow that’s seems technically true and god dang the last part got me!
15:23 Squidward is about to become like a person with a gambling addiction
27:18 Yes, I paused the video to read all that, and yes, you do have a point the blame is not toward Squidward.😂
Not gonna lie, Patrick made me mad in Gary Come Home😂
That ain't nothing compare to how worse he gets later on x'D
I always assumed she was fattening up the snails to eat them. I saw someone else comment that that was the original idea, but they wanted to change the implication. I guess they didn't do a good enough job lmao. Now I'm gonna actually ask my friends what their interpretations were.
27:17 Why yes...yes i did lmao
Everytime SpongeBob is at the Skill Crane he's got the magic touch as well as the skills to win anything
Have You Seen This Snail is the very first episode I’ve ever watched and is still my favorite episode ever made. Gary Come Home is also my favorite song in the series
10:50 "YOU'RE TEARING ME APART LISA!" Sorry I couldn't help it lol
The Room: I don't understand you Lisa
my friend has a BMO switch holder and it is in the exact same spot and even installed an electrical socket on the shelf so BMO is always looking over
23:12 He tried that in “Opposite Day” but the real estate agent refused after meeting SpongeBob and Patrick and may have even blacklisted him as a client 😂
11:37 actually she fatten them up so that she could eat them 😳
Yes, Gary was supposed to become the meatloaf she was talking about.
If you guys think Patrick eating the curdled milk is bad, just wait until season 6 for episodes like House Fancy and athe Splinter. No mental preparation will save you all from that…
Everytime squidward loses at the crane the sound the machine makes has the jigsaw laugh.
And so it begins. Squidward doing absolutely nothing wrong and just trying to enjoy his life and still getting punished for it
I really hated the later seasons for that. I hated the minigolf episode specially because of him suffering for doing absolute nothing.
And the driving school episode is also one i despise.
@@omerozel4716 what it's just A FRIENDLY GAME don't worry I'll be your BOATING BUDDIES.
I find it really ironic that Skill Crane, an episode where Squidward is justifiably punished for being an arrogant douchebag, is immediately followed up by Good Neighbors, an episode where Squidward just wanted to enjoy his day off and gets harassed for no good reason
Ah… “firsts” are always so memorable… and here we have our first squidward torture porn. Even as a kid I thought this was way too harsh
lol 😂 I dunno Patrick kinda made that milk look delicious to me when I was a kid
Can't wait for "Dunces and Dragons"!
I like that too
You know what’s funny about the crane episode is that in the second episode of season 1 bubblestand squidward has the same behavior because he gave SpongeBob a fake quarter until he realized he couldn’t blow a bubble then he ran through a bunch of quarters in his pocket trying to blow one until he did the technique
2:21 - I actually have that Camera!
Still works too.
😅😅😅
Either way they’re so fun.
everyone loves squidward -not kids- mostly bcs he's realistic and relatable honestly he's my favorite
As kids we hate Squidward. As adults we all ARE Squidward.
@@Ebon_Sean EXACTLY
@@Ebon_Sean
I never hated Squidward when I was kid
@@notraekook
What do you mean by “EXACTLY”?
I never seen any kid that hate Squidward
Gary come home is one a bop.
27:17 yes, yes I did actually pause the video just to read all of that
Went to an arcade a little bit ago, spent $120… meanwhile the prizes in the claw machines you can get off Amazon… for a few dollars.
What sucks with arcades now is the ticket prizes are garbage 😭 It’s only fun playing a select few games and then none of the prizes are good
Most spongebob fans who are adults like squidward.
Oh boy, you finally watched the episode where security system TAKES CONTROL OF SQUIDWARD'S HOUSE.
Fun fact: the voice of the old lady who feeds Gary is Amy Pohler
I’m squidward, he squidward, WERE BOTH SQUIDWARD 👃
Have you seen this Snail is the BEST episode of Season 4
Everyone is quick to diss Season 4 since its after the movie but this episode is such a good one, top 10 in SpongeBob history
27:16 props to whoever typed that. And yes I did pause to read all that.
Haha I finally got around to pausing and read it. 😂😂
I don't know why mr krabs was giving money for Squidward to spend in the claw machine hes not earning anything its his own money lol
A personal claw machine that you both feed, then reclaim your coins from, does sound fun. Challenge yourself to grab something using like 3$ worth of coins and if you dont just grab them back and wait for when your bored again.
