    I use those lists as well. I also like to put life routines in reminders. Mowing the lawn, laundry, cleaning, washing the cars, hair cuts, kids school schedule (no more sending kids to school without sports gear) etc. And with a smart list it makes it easy to filter or see what I have coming up in the next week or two.

    I used Things for the last year or two, but came back to Reminders after the upgrades. There are still things that are better in Things (pun intended), like how you can set a repeating task to repeat at a certain interval based on when it’s completed. Also, I can’t easily make a checklist inside a Reminder item like I can in Things. Subtasks are cumbersome comparatively. But Reminders has gotten MUCH better. The Siri integration and being able to remind myself of something when I get in/out of the car or location, or when I message someone, is really useful. Plus, you can add more details to each reminder item. I’d also like the ability to rearrange the order of tasks in the Scheduled list in Reminders (you can only rearrange the order in Today list).

    This video does address the issue of having our life's things to do items from overwhelming us and causing low-level anxiety which is so ridiculous when you think about it. Some quick suggestions: use Calendar for recurring items such as paying bills, send yourself an email with your master list (more on the specifics on this when you reply if you want), and limit what's in Reminders to three items or less if possible.

    Instead of clicking the radial buttons to check off each task, is it possible to use a pop-up/dropdown menu to select a number quantity? I'd like to use Reminders to log my workouts while I'm in the gym, and for each exercise I complete, I'd like to select a number from a menu for the number of reps completed. For example, after I finish 1 set of benchpress, I'd like to easily select the number 10 if that's how many reps I did. Another example: if you have tomatoes on your grocery list, if you buy 3 tomatoes, you should be able to select the number 3 from a menu to show the quantity of tomatoes you purchased instead of just clicking the radial button to show that you bought tomatoes but doesn't say how many tomatoes were purchased. Also, can reminders be exported as a Numbers spreadsheet so I can add the workout info to my spreadsheets? I'm trying to find new ways of tracking my workouts using Apple's apps instead of third-party fitness apps. Great video.

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  2 года назад +1

      I think the simple answer here is no to all. Reminders is a simple task manager that’s getting better. Drop down menus and exporting to Numbers are not among the current features.

    Great video! I love your Book List idea but when I tried adding a book from Amazon, it only adds the words “This book” to my list. I tried different variations of the request to add the book but it won’t work. I don’t use iCloud, so I hope that’s not the problem. Any ideas?

      Try saying “add this to my books list” (or whatever you call your books list) when you are on the page where to book is. (When you say “Add this book to my list” it will add “this book” to your list.

    What Smart List selections do you make in Reminders to create a list for "Next Week's Focus" or "Next Month Focus"? The relative range always starts from today, so next week would be next 14 days and include this week as well. And next month would be the next 30-60days... I don't have ToDoist atm because I'm wondering if I can simply to just one app, but am open to needing a dual app system. Thanks

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  2 года назад

      You could do this, I would use This Week and within the next 24 hours.
      I would not be interested in next week or next month's focus because too much is likely to change between now and then. If you really wanted to know what needs to be worked on next week or next month, you can go into the lists manually.

  • @DerrickMims

    I love the idea of adding amazon links to BOOK LIST. But when I try it on phone or desktop, Siri simply says, "What do you want to be reminded about?" Weird that this feature seems to have gone away in the last 3 months.

      @@Carl_Pullein I'm just starting an organisation system and am wondering about whether to just stick with Reminders to keep things simple on one platform, or whether to look into making a dual system with ToDoist as you seem to have done. Are you saying that if I have a dual system Siri will get confused? That sounds bad. Or are you saying that you incoporate Reminders into your dual organisation system because Siria and Reminders works well, whereas Siri and Todoist doesn't work well? Also does you Create course include teaching Todoist and the dual app system, or just the apple apps? THanks

  • @jawjuh1005
    @jawjuh1005 2 года назад

    General Question. When you complete a task in Todoist do you simply complete the task? Or do you delete tasks that are unlikely to come up again. Talking 1 time tasks. Not sure why I delete tasks I’ve completed. I don’t usually need a record of it but much easier just to complete it. Dumb question I know just wondered what you do.

      I probably would have loved Notion years ago back when I had the mindset of "more options and features = better", but now I look at Notion and know that I would just waste a bunch of time customizing in it rather than actually working towards completing my task list. I now realize that I'm more productive using apps that are simple and focused like Apple's productivity apps.
