New comment for an old review. I love this pedal over all my others, be it strap, chain or direct drive. I did, however, replace the chain/cam with a strap/cam assy ( Rogers RP100CAM-SD ). It improved the playability even more. I realize this is subjective but it also comes closer to the original design in that respect. I hope you're still enjoying this great pedal.

I am! I have two now, and like you, I've replaced the chain with the strap, and it's still my go-to! I rather wish they made a double pedal version (not that I need that for many gigs, bit it would come in handy)! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Just received mine yesterday. To your point about storage. You do know you can disassemble the bar as you did to put in a your hard shell case but put it in the Roger's bag with no more or less strain on the chain. So you CAN fit it into the bag with out moving the spring tension assembly.

Just so I'm understanding; you're saying that the same disassembly I do to fit the pedal in my hard case will allow it to fit in the bag as well, correct? If so, I agree that's true, but I don't use the hard case to accommodate the size/shape of the pedal - it's just the way I prefer to tansport my stuff. I'll be eager to hear how you like your pedal, man! Thanks for the feedback!

As for the chain failing in the future, I used to use the old Camco pedal and would unhook the support arms and throw it in my bag. Doing that gave it the same sideways chain that you're worried about. I've never had an issue with the chain doing this so I wouldn't personally worry about it on the Roger's.

See, that's what I need to hear. I loved those old Camco's too - same round-sprocket smoothness. Thanks for the encouragement!

Hi, Is this the greatest pedal ever ? Is it as fast as a Speedking ?

I have a Tama hp50 and also waiting for the dyno-matic to arrive; does anybody had already a chance to compare both pedals side by side? In pictures the Rogers seems to have a longer footboard (I hope so) .. Tama Classic is a nice pedal but the pedalboard feels too small to me. I also ordered a strap/cam kit in order to be able to switch between strap and chain to see which one feels better to me.

Hey John, I did see this drum shop's video featuring both of those pedals: ruclips.net/video/WRcSG6r2ZA8/видео.html While the Rogers is definitely more upscale, the simplicity of the Tama is really appealing, with the sense that I'd need to adapt a bit of "old-school" technique to use that pedal, and that ain't bad! I hope you enjoy your Rogers as much as I've enjoyed mine!

Thank you Chris Cooke for sharing with us this great review of the pedal and for helping aswering my question

I'm heavily considering getting this pedal. I bought basically the copycat version of this that Tama has put out in the last couple years and I am really happy with it but I feel like because Rogers makes the real deal one it might be a better fit for me to get this pedal. I've been on the journey for the best Pedal LOL. I love super simple pedals. I'm 100% in the philosophy of things always working fast when there are less moving parts. Simplicity is key

Hey David, I think your approach is wise; simplicity is indeed key. I will say, I'm not sure this pedal necessarily qualifies as "simple," since it does have so many adjustment possibilities, BUT, the upside is that once adjusted they way you want it you can treat it like a Ronco Rotisserie - "set it, and forget it!" I got mine at Sweetwater knowing I'd have the option to return it if it didn't feel right (still got it, obviously).

I have a bunch of swivomatics. I can't do the Bonham doubles and triples because of the leather strap so I am using a speed king. Does the chain have a faster response than the leather?

To be honest, I haven't played the orignal swivomatics, so unfortunately I can't give a comparison. Sorry!

Thanks for the review. Is this pedal on the lighter feeling side?

regarding your "problem".. cut out some firm foam.. so the footboard can rest in that at a height that makes sure the chain has no strain... thanks for a nice review!

That sounds like it would definitely be a solution. I'll give that a try - Thank you!

Does this latest incarnation of the Rogers pedal feature The “NEEDLE” bearings in the top tube that the original AMERICAN made Rogers featured before C B S took over and removed the needle bearings?! ( TORRINGTON “B-68’s by the way)!
The original “AMERICAN” made ROGERS “SWIVO-O-MATIC” Foot pedal had a smoothness and ease of speed that has not been equaled to this day in any other pedal. Which is why BUDDY RICH kept using his original Rogers pedals long after he quit the Rogers camp and started using other Makes of drums! He always had his trusty old Rogers “Swiv -O- Matic” American made (no Asian parts)!’behind that BASS DRUM ! I’ll keep my original “Grossman” era Pedal Thank you
Although I may consider purchasing this latest version of the Rogers pedal because I do like the action of it, and it is smooth as well just different from the original Rogers!

Wow, this is a good question! I am absolutely not qualified to talk about any original Rogers products, much less to compare/contrast the engineering involved in either one. All I can speak to is what I think of this pedal - but if your classic Rogers gear is still working for you, I say stick with it! Thanks for your insight!
