I am so sorry to hear of Stubby's passing. I'm not sure as to what animal services are available in your country, but here in the U.S.A, you could ask about having what is known as a "necropsy" (similar to a autopsy that is performed on humans). This very likely could help to not only bring some closure at the time of death but could also help to shed light as to Stubby's specific cause of death or at the very least provide a better understanding as to what'd led up to death. I understand it's easy to feel defeated however you should never feel as if you failed... sometimes it's simply the totality of circumstance during the circle of life and is of course very much easier said than done. I'll say a prayer for Stubby.

I used to have budgie looked exactly like him. He died almost a year ago. I still miss kissing his head and petting him

Only someone who has lost a bird can have the remotest idea of what it feels when one dies. Sorry for your loss, really.
Tell me about it . I had one he was born in 2001 along with another one was born few weeks later. The first one was green with the black the other yellow gray . The green one got attached to me more than the other one but still loved the yellow one also he was more attached to my mom . The green one unfortunately died of a respiratory infection on 2007 . I was devastated I did everything I could to save him I took him to get the vet told me that when birds get respiratory infection the there’s no cure . I took him the vet gave me some drops to give him got home gave it to him and it looked like it seems it was working he got like strong started flying around like he did all over the house he knew all the house how to get around but what it was he was I think saying goodbye . Next day he was seems weak he was on the floor laying like a hen I told him by I’ll be back please be strong don’t leave us he looked at me gave him a kiss and left two hours later my mom called me that he had died 😢. I was devastated I cried so much every day he was like my little brother that bird . Till this day I miss him 😢. I’ll see you when I get there little bro . Yea loosing a pet is tough. My sympathies to all that have lost theirs . 🙏🙏🙏🙏

He talked, he laughed, he cuddled... One day the missus traveled on vacations, and I kept the house, after my work schedule (08:00-18:00). Well, what I did was to forget a bucket with about 10cm of water (which I had used to clean the house) a few meters from where he perched while I was gone to work one day. When I returned home, I didn't hear him screeching and screaming and laughing (he had learnt to laugh...). My eyes were drawn to that bucket. From my entrance door, I saw the bucket, and that there was something in it.That something was my Verdim... God, how I cried. It was a year ago. I cry to this day. Seeing a parakeet being interred releases my waterworks also. How I wish I could rewind time... this video reopened this deep wound.

@@xavilopez4716Sorry for your loss, its true that only bird owners know the grief of losing a bird, and the people who laugh about it are red flags. My family dont see them as loveable as a cat or dog. I was a kid when I found my budgie dead after school, and I wanted just a minute alone to hold and mourn him since I never really cried prior that, but I didnt even get a chance because my older brother walked in and found out, and started recording me and laughing at me, then my mum came and told me to hurry up and put him in the trash, but I wanted to bury him. I had him for 2 years and he was my birthday gift.
Years later, we were texting eachother funny videos and bonding until he sent me the video of me crying while holding my dead bird, idk why he still had it but the fact that he sent it under the "funny videos" topic made me realize he's toxic, laughing at a child mourning her dead pet.
More years passed and *shockingly* I put a restraining order on my brother and cut contact with him because he did turn out to be a psychopath 😐
Moral of the story: People who understand pet grief no matter the size of the animal are good people, those who don't care lack empathy and are red flags to watch out for.
I'm so sorry to hear of Stubby's passing, Alen. They are children to us. You've done well over the years. All of this is inevitable but still very, very difficult when it happens. Stubby is truly a free bird now. We say this word "free" but I don't think we fully understand the meaning because humans are so attached to their sorrow (including myself). Yes. Stubby is truly free.🙏🏻💜🐦💜🙏🏻

I am so very very sorry for your loss. I know exactly what you are going through. I have loved and LOST 14 precious parakeets since April 21, 1989. You DID everything humanly possible to save Stubby. I always found comfort in the words of Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter. He said that birds HIDE their illnesses so well that by the time we humans NOTICE they are sick it already is too late 😢. You are very much in my thoughts ❤. RIP Stubby 💛💚

Wow that is so similar to my budgie Bertie he has the exact same symptoms with squeaky voice and bobbing tail but gets no worse and no better …. He eats and drinks as normal but sleeps more a bit like Stubby… I just pray he lasts a few more years 🙏

Alen I’m so very sorry for your loss. He looks just like my little Greenly who passed away 2 years ago. I, just like you did, tried everything to save him. 3 different vets, antibiotics, supplements. Nothing worked and I felt so helpless. They really are so fragile. I still miss him so much. I hope you find comfort in knowing you tried everything you could. Judging by the squeaking noise, lethargy, and sudden death, he probably had a respiratory infection. You tried your best 😢 sorry for your loss.
I recommend feeding your other budgies lots of carrots, mango, sweet potato, spinach, and other supplements that contain vitamin A, since vitamin A deficiency can weaken their respiratory immune system which makes them more prone to developing infections. Also, good idea with the mite treatment. You should do that to all your other budgies just in case, since mites can cause respiratory problems too. You should also apply it to their perches since mite eggs can fall into the wood, and so the budgies stand on it and apply it to themselves.
This video helped me realize that my budgie may have vitamin A deficiency, since she's been making the same sound as Stubby sometimes but for the past 2 years. So if it was an infection, she'd be dead by now. I do mainly feed my budgies seeds because they are scared of everything else I offer, the only fruits/veggies they eat are lettuce and strawberries. Most types of seeds contained in bird diets have deficient levels of vitamin A, which is necessary for the normal development of epithelium (skin cells), which line the respiratory tract. I will try to make them eat foods rich in vitamin A and sprinkle some supplements over their food and water and see if she gets better. She also has poor feather quality (common symtpom of vitamin deficiency) and sleeps a lot, but again it's been 2 years and she's been like this since she was a baby, so I couldn't really tell if it was just her growing up or something else until I saw this video. Thank you for posting it, Stubby's breathing like my budgie Peep has alerted me to start taking actions.

My rescue female budgie also recently passed from exactly the same condition. I had been told it's an upper respiratory infection by the vet but another budgie parent said it was to do with their heart. I guess we will never know for sure. I'm sorry for your loss.

They can actually live for a long time, its just if you dont take them to a vet to find out what's wrong then it'll die quickly

I am really sorry for your loss .. but remember it takes dedication and efforts to take care of a budgie .. u really did invest your time and put in the efforts and made them live a happy and healthy life , which most people cannot do . I myself had budgies and the longest my birds lived was 5 years.. moving on from that loss is painful undoubtedly

Im so sorry for your loss My little shay had the same symptoms she was only 14 months old I felt like I failed her still do. All the vets I found didn't treat budgies and the ones did were far away from where we lived . I was hoping and praying they would come out to us but she died the same day I was about to ring them

It’s always so much pain even though we know from the start that it is inevitable. Please cheer and appreciate those beautiful memories you shared together, you and has flock was all he had I’m sure he was happy about it and never wanted more.
This year I lost 2 of my 3 budgies in winter and a month ago. My girl is all alone now getting used to being only with me.
It is hard but I try my best to be grateful.
Life hack we made a custom crochet toy of our babies, the same colour everything. This way when I feel really bad I can hug and kiss them as if thinking they are always here besides me❤
