Thank you so much for shining a light on the lives of service members and how we live while deployed. This video is a gem for those who haven’t served, offering a valuable snapshot into the experiences of military life. That said, I’d like to offer some feedback from a veteran’s perspective. While the concept of this video is interesting, it comes across as a bit tone-deaf, especially being released on Veterans Day. The rations you showcased-ranging from Korean War to Desert Storm-were, for their respective eras, designed to meet the standards of American consumption at the time. However, the way they were presented here seemed to dismiss their context and historical significance. These rations weren’t just artifacts; they were part of our lives. Someone actually ate a Korean War ration in the field. Someone lived on Vietnam War rations. Desert Storm rations fueled troops in harsh conditions. Many veterans who follow your channel might feel this portrayal doesn’t fully respect the reality of those experiences. I understand you have a job to entertain and educate, and I don’t believe your intent was to offend. Sorry Guga but that is not how they would have eaten that food in 1776. a small group of soldiers would have had a cook pot, the hard tack would be likely be made and brough in and the meat would be soaked and rinsed a couple of time because it would have been heavily salted. The meat would be cut up with whatever else they had and stew would be made. The hard tack would likely be broken up and put into the stew as the starch filler. It's too hard just to bite into. That would have been a lot of soldiers with broken teeth.
