anecdotal: my immigrant neighbours both work for aged care, and another neighbour is a nurse... when I go for walks through my neighbourhood I see south asians playing cricket all the time, but not any aussies. Australians often stick to themselves or go with a local legacy team (Auskick, etc). Of course the immigrants are going to create community enclaves, when community in Australia is not really a thing anymore. We are not welcoming to other Australians, let alone immigrants.

The sad fact while plenty of immigrants are coming to work in places Australians arent: healthcare, child care/education, construction, and other essential things. We should be welcoming those people because they will become citizens and they will remember how we've treated them when they vote. Of course there's limits but we're a dying country propped up by mining and overpriced education to int. students.

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story
Ritalin gave me the ability to zone out staring at a water bottle for 2 hours, Vyvanse got me through college.
My sad rejection story: I had been chatting to a bloke for a couple of days on a dating app and I thought things were going well, so I invited him to meet me for a drink in the city at a bar he said he also liked. About 10 minutes after we were supposed to meet, he messaged to say he couldn’t meet me because the next day he was being deported back to Wales.
I remember having the same worries as Mislav before going on ADHD meds.
When I did, though, the improvement was life-changing. Far from changing my personality, it allowed me to be myself more than ever before.
I'm about to start medication, any general advice/recommendations?

Also, re Singapore. They have immigrants for their service jobs, while the locals are the higher skilled professionals. We’re kind of the opposite lol.

Ali does have a bit of a whitewashed view of Canada and their attitudes towards immigrants. There's plenty of people there who are open and welcoming towards immigrants.
But there's also plenty of Canadians who are extremely similar to the people in Australia who constantly complain about immigration.
A big talking point that's eating into Trudeau's popularity is the immigration levels that Canada lets in.
On the subject of gutting tafe and immigration being a problem maybe it should be mentioned that the privatisation of unis, such as sydney uni have a program aimed at taking in over 10 000 foreign students per yer providing them with housing as longs as their familes and such can pay the over priced and almost illegal dwelings they live in. A sydney uni degree costs x2 more if your are foreign so its no surprise that a private company. And that what unis are (business) prioritises foreign students.
They do this in America, too. It never surprises me that they let them in if it means the government can squeeze cheap labor out of them/ overcharge for student housing.
Ali thinks Canada isn't over mass migration? A sub-reddit about Canadian migration just got shut down because average Canadians were getting a bit too honest about the current situation.

Ali's comment on that most Australians like immigrants who have already integrated into our society but new immigrants who come here aren't liked as much, I think based on my own experience is true. I do think the dislike for new immigrants doesn't actually have much to do with actual racism, but due to the problems we're facing because of so many immigrants. I've never heard anyone complain about an immigrant for who they are, it's always about things like traffic, housing and employment.
Mislav. Adhd meds like Ritalin aren't that dramatic.
And you can easily take days off the meds when you want to have a chill day.

Inflation and housing costs are a consequence of government intervention, I worked for a construction company, the government makes it more difficult and expensive to get permits to build, you have more land than you can poke a stick to, you have the labour and technology, but you have f bureaucrats milking the people and getting filthy rich, and you don't even realize, wake up mates !

When I turned 18 along with my mates we were stuck in fucking goulburn so we had one nightclub (flamingos) full of the old toothless types, so we went to Canberra instead to go out which was fucked cause we all had to get there somehow and more than likely get a single place with 3 beds and a couch share with all guys and then when we went out in Canberra we had more interactions with Eshays looking for any type of scuffle than actual girls and when we did it was sketchy as fuck when one of the lads started walking home with a girl and ended up surrounded by all her friends (who were all men)
Still single since 21 feeling the fucking pressure cause I'm turning 28 this month and had no interaction with women of interest for 6 or 5 years
I think the best improvement we could make to our culture would be: there should always be a tiger or psychotic bull extremely dangerous megafauna kicking on the field when the ball sports are on
look mis. ritalin only last 4 hours. if you start taking it in a small dose, you are basically the song comfortably numb or stewie griffin when he did ritalin. just really calm and going with the flow. maybe a bit cold. if you take a bit more. you become wired as shit. you will understand why methheads say when they take it, they feel like superman. mind you only for 4 hours once its done you will be back to your normal self. unless you start abusing it when you are like a teenager its probs not going to change you that much

Framing the issue as an ‘us vs them’ thing with the “on the immigrants side” statement is pretty revealing. If you’re going to get annoyed at anyone then get annoyed at the pollies, it’s not exactly the fault of the immigrants that they are allowed to come to this country.

but that is a scapegoat for many people. look I'm not saying that you're part of this crowd, but there's a fair amount of people who DON'T make that distinction or even participate in the analysis for that and just shortcut straight to 'GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM'. Immigrants and refugees are coming here because they perceive it as a good choice for increasing their quality of life and the pollies are the ones requesting them to come here (never mind the amount of shit we do that MAKES refugees in the world). Refugees, immigrants are not burdens, and we should unite with them against the people actively enshitefying this country.

1-Jordan is way farther to the right than Hasan is. On both economic and social topics.
Politically speaking, Jordan's political views are the exact sort of views that Hasan regularly derides as right-wing, it's just that Hasan is a moron who rarely does his research, so he doesn't realise that Jordan is the type who praises Jordan Peterson and Trump in certain ways.
2-Unlike Hasan who hinges himself on an incredibly superficial and facile understanding of Marxism, Anti-Imperialism and the New Left, Jordan's worldview isn't hinged on a particular political ideology or doctrine.
Hasan is a fourth-rate ideologue, who regurgitates the most poorly throughout Marxist rhetorical points that he saw on a RUclips video, all the while giving very little actual critical thought to what he regularly says.
Jordan doesn't do that at all because he isn't a doctrinaire. He has his visible biases, but he isn't glued to an ideological doctrine.
Instead, his worldview is primarily based on populism, the fight between the perceived elites and the masses, with the result being that Jordan doesn't end up saying as much ideologically dogmatic stuff as Hasan does.

Australia is one of if not the most racist country on the planet whilst simultaneously being the most realist western nation when it comes to our own racism. Not only are we still actively & violently erasing indigenous modes of being, but even more dangerously so; we are intelligent enough to rationalize it.

And to answer how south park is able to do that and not get cancelled: Matt Stone & Trey Parker are rich gen X dudes who produce gen X television for other gen X dudes, the generation that watches the most television. Most of my Gen Y and cusper friends all lost interest in the show around about 2007/2008 when we turned 13 & 14. I'll watch a special from time to time out of interest of what is being put into the zeitgeist as south park episodes have real life political consequences against whichever group of people they decide to shoot at from their ivory tower and I know some other people who do also but for the most part it's hard to find young south park FANS. I remember the moment I personally lost respect for the show was when they did the Mr - Ms Garrison sex change episode and used footage of a vaginoplasty to try make trans women seem disgusting by association as if a vaginoplasty is somehow more uniquely gory and hard to watch for an audience of penis and fart joke enjoyers than a heart surgery or even tooth extraction.
