You legit have one of the best SQ5s I’ve ever seen. That red is bananas. I have a Daytona Gray and is torn between a chrome delete or just letting it stay. With your color, it’s a no brainer! Loving the content!!!
Thank you so much for that! I try really hard to have super clean builds and not over do it. That daytona gray would look good in black or chrome/silver but I think I would like the chrome/silver look. Get some wheels to match up and it would just pop!
@@midtenn_life I may be years out when it comes to wheels. I also want to go with BC Forged as well but they are 4500!!! lol. I’ll definitely be here for your journey and learn some stuff along the way too.
Looks amazing! Not just the splitter but your whole set up. Crazy amount of effort and risk of breaking something installing that splitter though. Just picked up my SQ5. Last car was a fl S3 and that just went on with tape and a couple screws. No other work. Idk if I feel comfortable taking it off with all the cameras and sensors! Might end up paying someone to do that install.
Hey there! Thanks for the complement on my car, I do try to build very clean looks on everything I decide to modify. I have modified so many cars that taking the front bumper off was not really that big of a deal, taken them off before so it was the same. I didn't worry about the sensors since I didn't actually remove them from their mounts, just disconnected wires. I am sure you could do the splitter without removing the bumper but I needed it off to put on the TAG Motorsports painted reflectors. If you took off just the under tray and took your time, I am sure you could do it. To me it just needs more than tape and screws, to much potential down force to risk it flying off.
Great video and explanation, I’ve watched all your videos and they have helped a lot. When you took the front bumper off and unplugged the cameras. Did you need to recalibrate anything? I’m hearing if you unplug the cameras you need to get the cameras recalibrated. Thanks just don’t want to start this job and not know what I’m in for. I already have the lip.
Hey. So no, I didn't have to get anything recalibrated at all. the camera stayed in it's housing so it didn't get moved all over. Besides, I had heard that the recalibration was more for the radars on the cruise control. I think that if you leave the items mounted it is fine. On another note about this. I just traded my SQ5 in, so I took all of these parts off. Let me tell ya, that tape sticks like a mother. I probably could have just used it and been fine. and on top of that, I am pretty sure that you can do this with out taking the bumper off, I only did it because I was taking it off already for the side markers. When I took the lip off, I just reached up into areas and took the nut off the bolt. You might need to take the bottom "skid plate" off before doing it but might be a LOT easier and less time consuming. Hindsight is 20/20 when you take things off. Had I to do this over again I probably would approach it differently.
No, you don't have to. I was already taking it off to install the paint matched side markers so it was easier for me to do it that way. But, I really do suggest putting more than just screws in there to hold it down, there will be a lot of down force up there and you really don't want it being sucked under the car.
@@midtenn_life i would love to see anything. I hope you’re looking into the 034 x brace for example or the 034 billet transmission insert+mount. More cosmetic mods. You got my support! Hope you get more views!

Thanks for the video. Getting ready to install a full Maxton kit on my RS7 and was wondering: did you have any issues removing the Maxton emblem? I could've sworn I heard people mention something about a warning sticker underneath regarding the warranty being super difficult to remove (not sure why anyone would warranty a $100 splitter....), so they simply reinstalled the emblem to cover it.
They are super easy to come off. Maybe I will do a little video to show how easy LOL. You mean Maxton having a warranty on it? What difference would it make to Maxton if you had a removable sticker on there or not to cover a warranty? Seems that they would cover the product itself 🤷🏼♂️. Strange to hear that.
@@midtenn_life The way it was mentioned to me was that Maxton had concerns about counterfeit pieces, and the warranty is contingent upon the emblem being in place. Like I said, my concern wasn't necessarily the removal of the emblem itself, but whether or not there's some sort of difficult-to-remove film or etching beneath the emblem, that's all. Thanks!
@@cdcoulson I just wanted to pop on here and reply to this. I now know what specific decal you are talking about. If you look at my last Maxton video for the spoiler there was a round holographic sticker on there, but it was in the worst spot possible so I took it off. When I took it off the word VOID was all over the location that decal was on. And you are right, why are they warrantying a less than $300 splitter or whatever? I mean it is hard plastic...not like it is carbon fiber.
Honestly, it just depends on your scenario and how picky you are. I already had the bumper off since I was putting on the Tag side markers so I had a reason to do it the way I did. Could you do it without removing the whole front bumper, maybe, possibly but I myself would not trust self tappers at all and even self tappers with double sided tape. To me there is a lot of downforce there so why risk it with just tape? You could probably remove the under tray and still drill in some holes for the bolts without removing the entire thing, but my level of picky is to never trust self tappers and for me to protect my investment as much as possible.
