Thanks for the video mate. It looks great! I'm doing this on my B8 SQ5 soon and will be using some double-sided tape to give it extra support/stiffness
looks absolutely amazing Lance. that space for the side skirts is concerning and thanks for mentioning it. I can definitely see myself stepping on that as I get in and out of the car.
Great video!! Just got the front splitter, side skirts, and rear winglets for my grand Cherokee. This video will help me out a lot! I was worried when I saw the small self tappers they came with. I will definitely be using longer ones!! 👍🏼👍🏼
@@Billet_GC something that is probably a half inch longer than the self tappers and a little thicker. It needs to be able to bite better. Maybe something with the threads kinda tight to each other vs spaced out
This looks like it would be a nice mob with the exception of one huge, glaring issue. As flimsy as they appear to be installed, one of your passengers are bound to step down on rail and "good-by" rail. As with most gimmick or superficial mods, they look good on paper or in pictures but in practicality they just don't function as hoped.
SQ5 the best looking suv imo. Especially with the maxton setup. Q8 is unnecessarily big and heavy. But in the back of this SQ5 I would've personally gone with the ABT rear "diffuser" with real exhausts. But personal preference. It's still an amazing beast as it is.
The Q8 is big but I love that RSQ8, just looks awesome. I like the ABT but I don't like the price of it. So many people seem to hate that it doesn't have exhaust tips, I personally don't mind it. To me it is one less thing to clean and I don't have to worry about soot getting all over the rear. Just my opinion though.
Were the maxton design logos easy to remove from the panels? I notice they were on originally, but gone on the finished product. I really don’t want any company logos on my car.
Hey! Yep, that is why I took them off, just don't look good. I do have another vid that I put out due to everyone asking this exact question, should be in the same Maxton playlist on my channel. But the direct answer is yes, very easy to remove.
Well I didn’t use the self tappers for the final install, just to make the hole. I will probably end up addressing it further since there are other small things I want to change with that install.
Looks awesome! I have recently installed maxton on my q8 inspired by your video. Personally I don't think the side skirt will last long, as my kid keeps stepping on it lol
LOL! Right! My issue isn't kids, it's my wife! LOL. She hit it 3 times getting in over the weekend, so much that I ended up saying "watch your step" when she would open the door LOL
Did you get the Audi Black-Optics package or do most of it yourself. If so, would really like to know where you got the front and rear bumper lower diffusers. I just got a 19 in the same color. Your looks amazing! I'd like to get mine looking as good.
I have order mine and i will put a bead of tiger seal along the length of the side skirts with the extended self tappers. the tirger seal will stop the ends moving..
Hi, I’m installing on the 2015 version, rear diffuser and side splitters on, tried the sides and you’re right, the self tappers are way too short to push through it. What length did you use in the end for the screws? I’m thinking if getting longer self tappers is the better route…
Haha…right! They are tricky but you get used to it. I never measured them but they are probably .5” longer than the tappers were, at a minimum. Honestly I would not even us even the tappers to mount them. Just use them to get the hole drilled then use something else, you will be glad you did.
So, yes. They didn't think far enough ahead, IMO, so the skirts do stick down past the lift points, but you can just mark them and cut them, that is what i ended up doing. I would do it with them off the car if i had to do it again.
Thanks for this Lance, I was wondering if a longer screw would present any issues but you've claified that for me. Did you manage to figure out what you're going to do with securing the front of them?
Hey Jeff! Thanks for watching and glad it helped you out. As for now I have decided to not do anything about it. It seems very secure and not going anywhere so I will leave it alone until I see a reason to deal with it.
Looks great man🤘🏻🤘🏻 could just be the camera angle ( n my preference ☺️ ) but I’d throw a little 5mm spacer on the rear to push those back wheels out just a tad so it’s closer to flush. But that’s just me.. Beautiful set up tho, looks killer 🤜🏻🤛🏻

You do get used to it pretty quickly though. My wife even asked if something changed since banged her foot on it one day LOL

Definitely do not use self tappers at all. Maybe start the hole with them but swap to something else.
@@midtenn_life what do you prefer?

Thank you so much!

Good walk through. If it were me though I’d pull all those self tappers out and install rivnuts and use regular bolts.

Does this prevent you from being able to lift up the car with a jack stand or put it on a lift normally?
@@ClubBlau no. I never experienced that.
Did you order directly from Maxton or did you order somewhere else…please help.. im looking to order a kit today
I ordered from Ben (Mops) at Nemesis Autosport. I think the site is in the description.

Looks good, until someone thinks it's ok to stand on while getting in the car 😂
it looks great but drilling holes into the metal frame, damn...too bad they cant be glued
they can be glued with siliconic adhesive. but the problem is when you jack the car
@@alex.preda1 whats the difference when u drill them? if you dont cut the jack points into the skirts you cant jack the car anyway
