You're spot on with being lucky to ride at all. I'm recovering from a herniated disc in my lower back. Have had to learn to walk again but now back on the bike and even running too. Never ever underestimate how fortunate you are when you're able bodied and in good health.

I see every zone-2 ride more as an adventure then a training ride. Go somewhere, see stuff. It starts with planning a route that will bring you somewhere along the way.
Also enjoy the unplanned parts of the ride. Last Sunday I saw a small weasel on the bikepath! Groups of geese with their young (gosslings?) crossing my path.. Rabbits, sheep, cows, horses and several pieces of art ... All made my day (despite a headwind for 40 km).

Your right Coach. One day I was doing hill repeats and a builder that was working on the house at the top of the hill said "I wish I could do that". I felt so privileged I did it again one more time. Never take it for granted that we are lucky to be able to ride.

So true, enjoy cycling more. Coming from a cancer survivor zone 2 is even more important especially when you get older. I still ride zone 4 or 5 just once a week. Spot on, not watts, HR! Lemond was doing zone 2, 4-5 hrs a day. Thanks

Thanks coach! I ride for fun and fitness. I never want to turn cycling into a competition. So I see every pleasure ride as having a nice spot of zone 2 training included. Like grating veggies into a spaghetti sauce. You can make a fun thing healthy without spoiling it! ; )

2:28 I've never heard it put like that before lol
3:36 I could also hear that line being said in a dark R rated movie bedroom scene.
Love your videos coach. Lots of good tips.
