Correct me if I'm wrong, but to get the full 300 lumens, you'll have to settle for a 48" screen. At 70", brightness drops to 120lum and at 100", it's down to 60lum. Used ProjectorCentral's throw calculator on the Capsule 2 to get a feel of the numbers. For comparison, my Epson EX5200, bought second hand in mint condition for 100$ (so about one EIGHT the price of the C3), pumps 1500lum for a 70" screen, and 600lum for a 100'". And I only really enjoy it in the evenings or low light surroundings. The Capsule 3 is clearly designed for two things only: convenience and portability. And you really really really need to want those to justify its price. Otherwise I don't see the point.
I had several projectors at home for almost 20 years now and I saw the technology going better and better with each I owned. I loved projecting 92 inches or more (Edit: 118 inches was the largest setup I had. I found my old calculation papers) full HD movies on my screen in my Living Room. But there are a couple of things to concider: You need the room to be dark to have a good image/colors quality (so, blackout the windows on day time) and you also need a screen made of reflective material (a bit expensive) to have a good HD image/colors quality. I do not use projectors anymore because of that now that I own big ass expensive HD TVs and don't need to move often like I did in the past. So, maybe small projectors could be a Revolution but not for actually watching movies at home, in my opinion. For everything else maybe (car trips, camping, evening backyard parties, I don't kow) but not for actually watching movies/Series in your Living Room on the long run. But hey, its just me. EDIT: Theres also another aspect. The bulb on any projectors got a life expectancy (in hours). The image quality goes down and has to be changed eventually. And costs almost the price of another projector (to my experience). Can this Capsule 3 bulb be changed and at what cost ? Trust me you will think about the cost of projecting 8 seasons of Game of Thrones on a old yellow wall with that thing while watching it.
I ran a series of projectors since about 2000 until 2019, when I switched to a conventional panel, 75" in my case. I was switching from 1080p to UHD, and large panel TVs had now come down in price to a point where they seemed reasonable. Despite the smaller size, to be honest an 11' display was probably unnecessary for the size of room, 20'x25'. The pros and cons came to a head, and I won't deny the need for a dark room doesn't bode well for a projector if it's in your main living room. The need for piles of spaghetti wiring and multiple remotes and configuring wasn't great for others trying to operate it. Yes, it took a short while to get over myself, from 11' down to 75", but I doubt I'll ever go back to a projector now.
@@nezbrun872 Damn. 11' ? Those were the days lol I totally agree that with these heavily DIY setups we become the only person able to operate it and its a pain. But hey, my friends back in the day were amazed at my movie setups (audio was also a project in itself) and they still talk about it regularly. It was really fun but the downsides are *huge* once you more or less reached what you wanted. I wouldn't go back to projectors either. I learned a lot, tho. It was fun. But thats no revolution.

Maybe ok for classrooms / meetings... and maybe camping? The problem for home use is you will want the room to be totally dark, and you actually end up taking more room unless you hang it from your ceiling. I like the concept, and if the tech gets small / good enough imagine projecting video from your phone... so there is some interesting potential use case here.
there's already a projector attachment for a certain phone.. mby motorola makes the phone? I remember it has several electrical terminals on the back of it.. another attachment for that phone is a camera with a big lens. That would explain why nothing is said about the most important value - brightness? But maybe I just didn't hear it. "Laser Bright" is not very helpful. But at the very bottom of the advertising page, you'll find it: 300 lumens. As expected for the device size only in darkened rooms or outside in the twilight / darkness. Nothing that should surprise you, but not to mention it ... for a device with this pricepoint ... well.

Beats rolling a big TV on a stand outdoors everytime to enjoy the big game with friends who can mess up the inside of your home. Even if you leave your TV outside under a covered roof, moisture will damage it or someone could steal your TV. A portable projector is a great solution. You can even attach a Google chromecast device to it (as long has you can get your wifi network outside) or a small TV tuner. As well as a stereo system or some waterproof Bose bluetooth speaker. Also, if you rented a ballroom for a wedding reception, it's much much convenient than hauling your big screen high definition TV.
Saves on the indium mined for the environment and rainforest deforestation if you don't buy flat screen tvs Indium is one of the nine oddest elements in the crust of Earth. It is also on the European Union's list of critical materials. Thats why they go to greater length to find it and ye forest don't matter there. There are current way to replace it but it's still used and is gonna run out in the next 50years.
If you can put up with not watching (or not watching in any kind of quality approaching ANY tv's) in the daytime or with the lights on, then sure, it's a fine TV replacement. Not to mention that even with all lights off, a projector with this one's lumens output, your not going to get anything like the blacks and contrast of even a standard LED TV.
Projectors are game changers. I have a 90inch screen in my bedroom and 150 inch screen in the living room...all from a projector. It's Contrast and black levels are nothing compared to TVs from even 10 years ago 😂 but it still looks amazing and it extreamly portable...i took it camping 2x and even took it overseas. I had a 100inch screen in my tiny hotel room which only had a old 32 inch screen that u had to pay for exclusive channels...yuck.
Yeah, Its Usually Click Bait When the title says something about one product completely killing the other with a question mark thrown in for good measure.
We haven't had a TV since 1982. That was when I said to the kids "One more fight over that TV and it's going." Got all sort of flack but we've done fine with radio and internet since.
Kinda cool and probably useful but you will always need an unobstructed table the right distance from the wall to set it on. And a fairly dark room with a vacant wall. For home, it's inferior to just having a standard flat screen tv.
@@stuartmiller7419 I got my 65" 4K tv for $400 new. This little 1080p 300 lumen turd cant begin to compare to even the cheapest TV. Projectors are alway a terrible value until youre trying to make a 90" or larger image or you NEED the portability only a projector can offer. I cant imagine owning one of these. Even if I got it for free I'd just sell it and buy something that suits me better. 300 lumens is laughably awful. Most projectors I deal with are in the thousands of lumens. Even then we still darken the rooms the best we can to make the most of the setup. Trying to use this outdoors would be a fool's errand if I've ever encountered one.
I remember buying the Sony KDL-52XBR6 52" 1080p BRAVIA LED backlit LCD for over 4 grand back in 2007 (pre order) I remember the first unit had ghosting on it (white haziness on crush black) and I called them and told them to pick it up and replace it. The prices and quality today just amazes me. Not you can get that same TV for like $500 or less used lol
At $700 it's a total rip off (and that's the discounted price), especially for the lumens it provides, which is like 1/3rd of what you would actually want at minimum unless you plan on making a very tiny screen. But projectors are actually better than TV's, if it's in a dark room, and you use a decent projector screen (the dark gray kind, not the white kind, that's how you get good contrast). And that's why the lumens suck too, because with the dark gray projector screens, you lose a lot of light, so this 300 lumen will behave more like a 100 lumen or less, which means it'll be much dimmer than the numbers suggest in order to get good contrast. It's also a bit over engineered in other ways, it certainly doesn't need a freakin' quad core phone CPU or 2GB of RAM just to play 1080p videos, and most people will probably be streaming to it from a mobile device anyways. Even though it has 16GB onboard storage, it doesn't even have a memory card slot, and I bet a good chunk of that 16GB is taken up by other software already. So you'd at best be able to put about 3-7 good-decent quality movies on it. I mean it's nice that it's self contained, but it really is fluff that adds to cost unnecessarily. People just mainly want the laser projection tech. When deals are up, you can get even OLED TV's now for the same price as this thing. This seems to me more like a $200 device at best, and that's pushing it. It should be more in the $100 range. I mean after all, we're talking about a device that has mid range smartphone specs for no reason, that is only for playing movies. They could use the cheapest slowest RAM and CPU from 10 year old smartphone tech and you wouldn't even notice the difference.
This would be perfect for my small apartment. It’s just too expensive. I have a tiny apartment and i think this wouldwork well to project onto a pull- down screen over the windows, thus darkening the room for viewing, and not have to leave a blank space on the wall. I just need something with a much lower price. The portability and space saving aspects are selling points to me.
Projectors are useful for particular situations. We have a 75" 8k Samsung TV and a projector. The difference in quality is enormous. In fact the difference between a projector and a 4k tv is enormous. The problem with projectors include needing to have a good quality projecting surface and in a bright environment it's useless. The sound from the speaker is not coming from the source of the image unless you attach additional speakers. In no world does a projector come even close to a medium or high end TV. Maybe one day, but not today. That is not a criticism as it has its uses for those who own a TV to give some flexibility, and for $700 it will be great for people on a budget.
There are actually higher end short throw 4k hdr dolby vision laser throw projectors, these are as close as to a TV you can get in terms of image quality tbh.
Yea this coke can is a joke. A good short throw and appropriate screen will cost far more than a decent TV these days and still have some drawbacks, it will however be actually useful for more than a gimmicky movie night unlike this thing.

@@nebulafans8371 its clearly a better product. However, i feel its a very niche market, and charging $800 for what is a pico projector is a huge turn off. People wanting a high end projector would be better suited spending a little more for a 4k projector from benq or catching the wemax ust projector when its on sale for $1400 or so.
Been looking at upgrading my current projector (no name, 720p upscale to 1080p). But this projector is all about portability, which isn't my main goal (better picture quality). The MSRP price is close to what BenQ has with their projectors, but their projectors around this price range have 10x ANSI Lumens of what Anker offers with their Capsule 3.
Yeah, this thing is way, way, overpriced. I got into a full 1080P Viewsonic projector with 1500 lumens for $500 NEW like 8 or 9 years ago. For the $800 the are pricing this at, you are only about $300 off of starting prices on 4K projectors! This thing is a joke at that much! I wouldn’t pay more than $200 for this. MAX! Because you can get a ton of these portable projectors in that price range now. 🤷♂️

Interesting little device. I personally wouldn't have a use for it but I know people who would, not owning a TV set because they don't want the kids to access TV content without close supervision. So this is a way to control when your kids can watch TV. You lock it away when time's up or when you're not around. They don't see it, so they're not tempted as much.
Hope they made it better than their first capsule. I bought the original, and it had a ton of limitations and basic usability issues. Couldn't run video files through it without using a dongle, couldn't access the internal memory to save video files. Really old version of android tv. Extremely low light performance (similar to other pico projectors of the time). The control buttons on top didn't make sense, causing my kids to accidentally turn off their show. A battery-powered projector should be good for off-grid applications like camping. Thus, it should have been better at playing basic video files (from flash, internal, or SD card). Their larger Mars projector worked much better.

Last year toddler used a metal sippy cup to smash a $4,000 tV screen. Obviously, we aren’t getting another one until he’s old enough to learn the value of self control. This product would be so so so tempting for our family, if it didn’t feel like that camera would be spying on us or if we didn’t wonder if that laser could be used as a weapon between our children against each other.

As a film camera buff and boomer, back in the day, 1970's, we camera pro's shot Kodachrome slide film, awesome color but it was only as good as the screen you projected it on, silver linear was the best IMO. You had a tube holding the screen 4" in diameter 5' long with fold-out legs and a decent projector, Bell & Howell was my brand. Because plain old walls were stupid.
As someone who travels for work and gives presentations regularly and is still a tech geek movie watching gamer. I think this excels at what I’d want it for. Whilst I’d love it to be cheeper always. Realistically nothing really compares with the stats, size and sound if the review is true and as such I’d expect to pay higher.
I agree 100%, love the review, love the portability and even brand...HATE the price! It's a great gadget but since it's essentially positioned to be a replacement for a standard LED TV it's going to lose at that price since 4K is a non issue even on the cheapest of TV's out there so what does that leave you...portability and possibly space saving. At that price it's a lot to justify if it's just a "nice to have" and is meant to only see the light of day a couple of times a year but love the idea and where the tech is going. I have one with all the same features minus the built in apps and for sure not the same picture quality but it was $100. It's been dropped, got wet, been camping and if it tipped over and fell in the fire I'd probably just laugh, with this pricey little beast I'd probably cry!
I have the capsule 1 and it doesn’t have autofocus. This is an improvement, but is twice the price and like you say, out of a price I’m happy to pay. The speaker on the 1 is also not brilliant, but I can connect my Bose for better sound. Not sure if this could replace a TV too. It would want to be permanently setup for that.
Everyone should try a modern projector. Even if you can get one used. They are so much fun for movies and video games. I love glass tv's but projectors are alot of fun to try out.
My 65" OLED Sony Bravia with the Dolby Atmos Soundbar is my preferred way, especially for watching movies and nature shows, much more immersive. No comparison, regarding brightness, color richness, black level etc. That said, it's not really a fair comparison. Apples and oranges due to function and price. I can see myself owning one at some point because of the portability and price.
@@JohnnyMotel99 I agree, I even said I could see me owning one because of portability. My point was, for me it could never be a replacement. When I'm at home I like a cinematic experience for the time I devoted for viewing.
More accurately stated: It doesn't work very good unless you have a dedicated screen and a super dark room. It works without a screen as you can see throughout this video you can project it onto just about any surface you want. Yes, a flat white surface would be ideal but no matter the surface used it still works. Same argument with needing a super dark room, that would be ideal but even in a brightly lit room it still works... you just won't get a good picture.
Although a good idea the lumens on this are only 300. Unless the room is pretty dark the image will be white washed by ambient light in the room. I looked up the specs on it. 700$ is a steep price tag.

Yes go make a presentation in a company that has presentation equipment and then not use it I've seen this done so many times in so many different ways and it just ends up looking bad usually. I love the sound quality on this projector it might make up for it because for some reason they never put good speakers in projectors.
Great job with this review Mike. I own this Nebula projector and your analysis is spot on. I absolutely enjoy it and especially appreciate that it’s laser for the slight boost in brightness and to prolong the projector’s longevity. I worked in product development for a high end consumer electronics company and our team would have scooped you up in a heartbeat. Keep up the excellent work.
That thing seems to make sense. I like the overall versatility of it not being any bigger than my BT box and being a box also. But as you said for the next generation Anker should come up with a sliding cover or so for the lense. I also like that it runs Android tv 11 adding to the versatility.

The obvious downside are the surface you use it on, and light considerations, for a better picture but an interesting product. I don't think I would give up my tv for this as a replacement.
This would be awsome if you could pair its projector functions with your phone during video calls. Even better if it could make video calls and had a camera on the back. That way people could use walls to make video calls. It would be kind of magical!

So I bought a 4k outdoor projector before the "pandemic", I bought some posts and a large strip of canvas. Now I have an outdoor theatre in my backyard and it's quite enjoyable
Projectors will always be inferior to actual tvs, simply because one is directly emitting ligth while the other bounces it off a surface. you can compare it with the sun(tv) and the moon(projector and wall)
That is such a great Analogy! Though I think if there's a brighter light emitting to the moon by for example another much much much brighter star. Then the reflection might be brighter than the Sun itself no?
@@someonewithsomename.4044 if the moon would be a mirror maybe but good luck finding something brighter than the newest oled/QD-Oled and what not with 1000-10000 nits brightness burning your eyes away
If the moon was made out of a more reflective surface, then there'd be something worth comparing. As the tech in projectors and projector screens improve, the comparisons to TVs will have less weight. Projectors don't have to be as good as or better than TVs to be a practical choice. They just have to be good enough; once that point of image quality and brightness reaches diminishing returns, it'd be good enough for most people.
depends on the projector, high end projectors from jvc and sony will change your tune. besides, they're designed for different purposes so both are superior in their own element.
I could see using this in my teardrop camper. We have a flat wall that we could attach a quality screen to and watch movies if we want. Or we could set up outside for movies under the stars. So tempted to get this.
I have a portable projector similar to this. I use mine to bring on trips. It's also very good for watching sporting events when you have people over. It makes it feel like more of an event.
I use and carry my iPad Pro for for good 5years and it’s always with me. Slim, always connected, great 4 speakers, great screen and I can do more then just watch Netflix…forget tv or projector Of o have big room for tv,I’d rather have tv on a wall then this projector
Too expensive for just 300 lumens. I get it, it's Laser technology but the Xgimi Elfin can be had for just 500 on sale now with 800 lumens dlp technology. They're both 1080 but at the end of the day, it's all about more brightness for the dollar imo.
I understand where many of you being hesitant but I replaced all my tvs with projector so so happy I did, but it definitely isn’t for everyone. If you just want to watch tv every now and then then you probably wouldn’t want to take the jump. I have always been a movie buff and the deciding factor to me was 3d capabilities. Unfortunately they no longer make 3d tvs but most of the main brand projectors do. Right now I have a 4k project projecting on 150” screen and only have around $1300 in it. 150” 4k tv would cost tens of thousands of dollars. Crazy thing is I hate 3d movies in theaters because it makes me sick watching but a home with a smaller screen it is perfect. I have never used the Capsule 3 but the original Mars and Mars Lite that we use for night football games and I can barely kick people off my porch when it is over. I will say this is way more expensive and it is probably not worth that price.
I’m in my 40’s and follow AV, cinema, reasonably closely. These gadgets have been around for a while in various forms and have got better over time for sure. However they are (in my view) purely a convenience gadget. Take camping, use for a presentation, great for large scale conference calls, etc. However at that price point you could get a 4K, HDR 55" television. Maybe not the best but still pretty good. So no. In my view they will never replace a tv in your house but they are a great solution for traveling round.
of course, if you want to get a tv, than it will be better in every aspect than such a tiny device. but not everyone wants a big tv in their home. there are people like me, that only watch videos on laptops or tablets or phones and dont even have a big screen sitting around somewhere. i think such a device is cool if you want to have the option for a bigger screen without having the need for it all the time. if you have a big house and/or want a dedicated home cinema, than you are way better off with a big stationary tv set, of course.
@@MikeOBrienMedia keep up the grind man. You being one of the best smart watch channels is sure to pay off in the next couple years. I know it sounds weird but I'd get ready to start testing more AR headsets. I think apples watch ultra is just a prototype controller and hud for there ar/vr headset. If true smart watches and there accompanying headsets could really sky rocket your channel. Just a thought.
I have the last gen of these. We use it for camping and for the occasional backyard movie/football game. We just plug a roku stick in it so we have all our apps. Love having it.
*This is a nice novelty, but it not a game-changer where everyone tossing their super thin flat screen TV in place of this.* *It might be small in size, but it does take up more space, a flat screen TV or monitor would. First you have to find a decent flat wall without anything hanging on it, second you have to find a place to place the projector where people won't knock it over as they go to the restroom, kitchen to get the popcorn or snacks, etc...* *But they will be blocking the view as they have to pass in front of it from time to time.*
The use case for it is mobility of some kind. For instance, I could use my Motorola phone that has their "Ready For" system which lets you use an external screen; it could display the desktop and let me do office work on it, or I could use a Bluetooth game controller and game away on a huge screen instead of a tiny phone screen. A travel display in general, too, for watching movies perhaps. The issue is that the brightness is low, and you need to position it properly in a light controlled room. Could be useful but also a little gimmicky for most.

Battery-powered, internal speakers and the Bluetooth and wifi features make this projector really versatile and useful. The sound of the speaker is superb and the autofocus features sound Kool too. What I'm really concern about is the picture quality in medium light conditions and dark conditions. I'll like to see a review off the bigger model to this capsule type. If the video quality is excellent and the overall functionality is robust then this projector is a must-have device. It will be super nice if this projector have good expandability for the software component of the device. 👍👌💯😎.
Hope they've resolve the Reliability of the hardware. My first gen can no longer project bigger than 10" anymore, can't use it to project on the ceiling watching movie on my bed. The USB-C is much needed with PD, micro-USB just won't make the cut to charge it while using it for longer hours.
To all those people here saying "my tv is better or a tv is better"... well duh, ofc its better if you got a good tv at home but this mini projector is NOT meant for that, its meant for beeing mobile, using it anywhere... i have a Mii projector and ofc its never running at home but goes always with us, when we go on vacation to the beach, skiing ect... so we can always watch a large tv instead of those gameboys they use in most hotels... the only downside is, we have to find a large enough wall and lets say from 10 rooms usually in 2 its just not possible because either the walls are too small or packed with things like the small tv ect... Also i bought a large tripod, it helps alot because you dont have to find the perfect spot, you just make it yourself, so a clear wall is the only thing we must find.
Oled>projectors for gaming imo, they have infinite contrast that a projector could never achieve and their input latency is second to none, where as a projector typically has pretty high input latency by comparison of your typical TV, especially when compared to Oled.
@@matilija I'm all for it. OLED seems to be the way in the immediate future. Of course the usual suspects are going to take their sweet time slowing rolling out the incremental updates to the tech so they can bleed us slowly instead of giving us what we want now.
Plus's! Small, transportable ,way less power +. Negatives. A nighttime device or well darkened room, speakers ? Not 4k , placement ,easy to rob. But a nice addition to anyone that needs to project walls, ceiling possibilities are good for business aswell.
As someone loves to watch movies, lives on a U.S. military base (sometimes moving to another one), and needing a small compact projector to carry for work and play- this projector is perfect! After moving to a new base last year, I refused to get another TV, so I got myself the BenQ GS50. It's an awesome projector but I wish it wasn't as big or a tad bit heavy to carry between flights. If this had came out last year- I would have totally copped this beauty. Now that you've made this video, I'll probably leave my GS50 at home and get this one for when I need to travel. I have one question- have you tested the projector with an iPhone? I happen to be an Apple owner and just hope that maybe Anker hooked it up to accommodate IOS systems. Please let me know and thank you for making this awesome video!
A 100$ projector on amazon is freaking great! Give similar image to a toshiba from 17 years ago that cost 1600$...No hdtv but good enough that you watch a movie or play videogame on a huuuuuge screen! Got mine 2 weeks ago and love it...The projector bulb in my old one costed around 400$ alone....
Mike. You may want to suggest to Anker to put in a built in lens cover for the projector lens. A camera lens cover with gaffers tape may also work to keep scratches from the lens.
Your backdrop, lighting and clarity would have to be ideal to consider this better than a traditional TV screen. This is nice to have but definitely not taking over anytime soon.
Well taking out the bulk from a project and thus a tv can be a very important factor, you can suddenly ship an 80inch tv and it probably consumes even less
That is so cool this is a great Christmas present for my in-laws they camp all year round. Thanks for the Idea I was having trouble finding something they might like and use
Mini high definition projectors that are bright enough have been around for about 20 years. Dimmer ones & low definition ones have been around even longer.
A certain Canadian tech youtuber known for their tips is just now posting a sponsored review of this. It's official mike your my main tech product reviewer.
I watch TV not only for the picture but also for the stereo/hi-fi sound! This may be LOUD but it won't be stereo or hi-fi (which is why stereo was invented in the first place).
I replaced my tv's for projectors since 7 years now. Sure, i know that a high quality tv is a nice thing.(Colordepth, HDR etc) But my first 120 inch experience at home was so mindblowing. additionally I've to say that I've to use glasses. Not strong ones, but annoying. And for me it makes a huge difference if i watch without glasses on 120 inch. No glasses needed!!! And if you ever get used to the living room big screen experience, i can't go back to the Little mouse cinemas. And finally, as a final argument, no more huge black block in the living room or bedroom. No matter where or on which wall. The individuality of a projector is simply unbeatable for me. And there are so many different devices out there todays. Everyone will match it's needs. And especially the capsule 3 (non laser version - is definitely enough) with google tv (no extra device needed) nice sound (boombox option) and great picture is for the price with 379€ a perfect device for me which leaves nothing to be desired
Brilliant, Don't know how u overcome needing a dark room to view.. but yes, easy to have a dark wall for them... Bring on new inventions, especially with costfree transport... there's still such awkwardness around getting about
This might be perfect for those vanlifers who bulld out their own vans. This would be a great option for saving space and not having a bulkly TV sticking out
Had a projection tv back in the 90's, it was the new technology then. It wasn't really that good and constantly needed attention, not to mention the humongous size of it. I tried one of these projection units, I needed a flat white wall to get a clear picture and ended up buying a white screen. It was still blurry. I couldn't hear it that well, ended up buying an external speaker to hear it, still didn't have the "umph" you want to hear on a good movie. It had to be dark in the room to get a clear picture, not really all that convenient. Don't wobble the table it sits on and if someone walks by in front of it, well no brainer there. I now have a big beautiful flat screen TV that has a nice sharp clean picture without all the extra fuss. This might be a good unit to tag along somewhere, but you won't really be able to see or hear it, probably better to just use your phone. I don't want to diss this technology, I''m just giving my opinion. It is a little pricy too. There are dozens of these projectors on the market in all price ranges, but by the time I got done investing money for all the other extras, It cost more than a TV. I'm sure these units have a place and use somewhere, but it wasn't in my house.
I have had a capsule 2 for over a year and it’s been great. I 3d printed a angled holder so I could project it onto my ceiling and it works fine for that. However I can see a single problem with the nebula 3 compared to my nebula 2. The neb 2 has aux audio, and hdmi (like you pre release version) but had both a seperate usb and usb-c ports, so I could supply power on the C and plug in a usb device (such as a thumb drive or a usb/Nic dongle connected to Ethernet when wifi is less than reliable). The capsule 3 doesn’t have a spare usb. Only USB C… so if I want to use additional peripherals, I would need to but a usb c docking station and more importantly a bigger usb c power… as the power supply it comes with is usually not rated to power a dock and the nebula combined, hence the need for a bigger power supply (docking stations usually draw a percentage for its internal function before the left over goes to the nebula) However nice to see upgraded specs, such as 720 (neb 2) to 1080 (neb3) and upgraded from 220 lum to 300 lum in the new model. I don’t think I need to upgrade just yet but nice review.
Seems like a solid portable projector. But for that price point, just to expensive for a 1080P projector. Especially with only 300 lumens. Honestly, this should be. About 1/3 that price.. 🤷♂️
I do AV for a living. Technology still has a long way to go before they can make a projector that will challenge a TV. Sit in a room with people where both a nice large 10' image is being projected on a screen and a 42" monitor are showing the same content. They will invariably gravitate to the monitor.

@@pesto12601 65" were on sale for $400 just 4 weeks ago too.
But I did like the ease of moving it around the house.
He said that it was a laser projector, so not too sure about how that goes. I do remember that being the problem back when I was younger too though!😅
11' ? Those were the days lol
I totally agree that with these heavily DIY setups we become the only person able to operate it and its a pain.

The problem for home use is you will want the room to be totally dark, and you actually end up taking more room unless you hang it from your ceiling. There are lots of uses for this but it can't compete with a good high definition tv for me when it comes to home viewing.
Saves on the indium mined for the environment and rainforest deforestation if you don't buy flat screen tvs
Indium is one of the nine oddest elements in the crust of Earth.

Especially for what you can get, in TV terms, for similar money, these days.
Agree. It would be good as a portable projector for making presentations, though.
@@drewscentral5587 Yes, that's exactly right,. Close to...We have the newest Samsung projector, it's close to a real TV but not the same.

The right priorities
Yeah, this thing is way, way, overpriced. I got into a full 1080P Viewsonic projector with 1500 lumens for $500 NEW like 8 or 9 years ago. For the $800 the are pricing this at, you are only about $300 off of starting prices on 4K projectors! This thing is a joke at that much! I wouldn’t pay more than $200 for this. MAX!

I'm his other brother, and I didn't find it worth the price.
I’m his uncle twice removed and I found that the projector is kinda cool.
Or you could go camping and not stare at a screen.

was the best IMO. You had a tube holding the screen 4" in diameter 5' long with fold-out legs and a decent projector, Bell & Howell was my brand. Because plain old walls were stupid.
Great review. Good product. Too pricey for what it is I think. >500 is tough.
Well, you got the point, but this is mobile and small enough that you can bring it anywhere you go.
I was ready to buy until I saw cost. Agee, in the 400 range I don’t think I would have hesitated

Mobile projector that you need to keep plugged into the power. Awesome
This does not work unless you have a dedicated screen and a super dark room.
Exactly. I would rather buy a tablet or laptop to watch on than this.
For $700, i can get a really nice 65” 4K TV. But i can see the portability for using outside the house. It’s perfect for vanlife or camping.

@@Zetraxes they are pretty good but OLEDs were not usually this bright. They recently became this bright.
Yep, camping seems to be what it's for.
I have a portable projector similar to this. I use mine to bring on trips. It's also very good for watching sporting events when you have people over. It makes it feel like more of an event.
I use and carry my iPad Pro for for good 5years and it’s always with me. Slim, always connected, great 4 speakers, great screen and I can do more then just watch Netflix…forget tv or projector
Of o have big room for tv,I’d rather have tv on a wall then this projector
Too expensive for just 300 lumens. I get it, it's Laser technology but the Xgimi Elfin can be had for just 500 on sale now with 800 lumens dlp technology. They're both 1080 but at the end of the day, it's all about more brightness for the dollar imo.
So true. I would love more lumens here
I understand where many of you being hesitant but I replaced all my tvs with projector so so happy I did, but it definitely isn’t for everyone.

I like where this is going but 300 lumens is not enough. Especially for bright rooms.

No it wont ..... I still recall the screen enhancers for regular tvs
Now imagine if something like this could come with a high enough refresh to replace gaming monitors…

Maybe a standard threaded daylight filter.
Your backdrop, lighting and clarity would have to be ideal to consider this better than a traditional TV screen. This is nice to have but definitely not taking over anytime soon.
Yup.
Yes. I use my laptop : never watch TV : nothing I want to see …..
Softboi
This comment is too stupid to be real.
Call me when the price comes down to $250. It has too many limitations for an $800 projector.
Well taking out the bulk from a project and thus a tv can be a very important factor, you can suddenly ship an 80inch tv and it probably consumes even less
I'll wait for the 4K version to come out. Thanks!
I have a projector and only use that and my phone. It’s out of the way when not needed and provides a huge screen for movies and gaming.
Portability and energy saving is a plus .
The biggest plus I see is when it stops working it won’t take up much room in a landfill .
That is so cool this is a great Christmas present for my in-laws they camp all year round. Thanks for the Idea I was having trouble finding something they might like and use
Mini high definition projectors that are bright enough have been around for about 20 years. Dimmer ones & low definition ones have been around even longer.
One of my buddies recently said "I'm trying to find a way to watch a football game from my pool." This would be perfect...
We will get one for motorcycle camping! Awesome👍😎⬆️💯. Is it water proof?
I got a mimi projector last Christmas...Love it ...will never return to TVs
for a portable screen is ok.. but it wont replace the image of a tv...its a diferent tool
I’ve been road tripping with DLP’s for years, it’s been really great and easy.
Using a Guinness Beer can as a unit of measure is epic !
Thanks for the information.
Didn't know they had compacted the projectors like that.
Excellent presentation.
Nice commercial. So far, I never missed not being able to take my TV with me.
It is amazing. I had this idea in my head since I was a kid with a Lite Brite toy. (60 years ago) I even imagined it using laser beams.
Right and I had the idea for the Space X, 50 years ago along with Tesla vehicles 🤣🤣🤣
I always loved Projectors
That's why I AR Glasses
AR Glasses are the Best Screens ever
I replaced my tv's for projectors since 7 years now.
Sure, i know that a high quality tv is a nice thing.(Colordepth, HDR etc)
But my first 120 inch experience at home was so mindblowing. additionally I've to say that I've to use glasses.
Bring on new inventions, especially with costfree transport... there's still such awkwardness around getting about
Great idea who ever made the unit will make millions.
This might be perfect for those vanlifers who bulld out their own vans. This would be a great option for saving space and not having a bulkly TV sticking out
Impressive device! Thank you.
"Pocket sized." Lmaoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
What a coincidence, I’ve been using one of this nebula projectors for 6 months and it’s amazing
Only USB C… so if I want to use additional peripherals, I would need to but a usb c docking station and more importantly a bigger usb c power… as the power supply it comes with is usually not rated to power a dock and the nebula combined, hence the need for a bigger power supply (docking stations usually draw a percentage for its internal function before the left over goes to the nebula)
However nice to see upgraded specs, such as 720 (neb 2) to 1080 (neb3) and upgraded from 220 lum to 300 lum in the new model.
I don’t think I need to upgrade just yet but nice review.
Way too expensive for what it is to be used for. They are going to have to get it down to $400 before it will sell well!
Simply mind boggling !
This reminds me of when I saw the first VHS recorder. They were about $600 back in the 70's. I want to see one in person before I buy.
Go to your current tv, spread some clearwhite syrup on the screen and reduce the backlight about 50 percent and you have this product.
Portable and smart so that's a huge plus!!
Seems like a solid portable projector. But for that price point, just to expensive for a 1080P projector. Especially with only 300 lumens. Honestly, this should be. About 1/3 that price.. 🤷♂️
This is some very powerful stuff! loved it!
Love the portability. Hate the very low lumens. :(
Holy crap! I was watching this on my phone drinking from a Guinness can. I don’t think you could’ve used a better size reference!
Thanks 4 info; didn't know such device existed. Game changer, send TV into early retirement
I do AV for a living. Technology still has a long way to go before they can make a projector that will challenge a TV. Sit in a room with people where both a nice large 10' image is being projected on a screen and a 42" monitor are showing the same content. They will invariably gravitate to the monitor.
