A highlight of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne every year is the speed comparison so we thought we'd host one of our very own! With the amazing Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit all to ourselves we line up a trio of AMGs piloted by professional racing drivers to see whether the flagship GT R can run down a C63 and A45 when they're given a sizeable head start. Place your bets!

I’m impressed with all the AMGS here I didn’t think the C63 would hang out with the A45 on track (happy C63 owner here!) and I didn’t think the GTR would catch the the A45 with that head start. The A45 definitely the best hot hatch out there
That’s why I’m a C43 2019 facelift owner and put an order on 2022 A45S with performance package
C63s does it’s work on the hwy!
A45s is still impressive, even without Cup 2 tires

Having done all of the AMG Driver Academy schools, the A45 is a standout. Even on PI’s high speed layout, the hatch gives up little to the C63s.

It's all contrived, they filmed and timed it in multiple takes in advance. I can't say I was surprised that they were all but the same.
I have the 35 but still very impressive the hot hatches more recent additions to AMG. Power in compacted form, excellent fun.
Same, my man's, I have the 2020 CLA 35 AMG and want to know how hard you can push 225Kw. It's amazing how technology has advanced so much that a 4 banger is pretty good
I have a brand new A45s , it’s a fast bloody car !!!!!! Absolute legend going up against these fast cars shows how much of a monster it is ❤

They should have used the C63 S coupe instead of the sedan, I think the coupe handles better and is the more track focused model

Great question @chris. Most new ABS/AEB systems use this new feature (even on utes!) ... but in this case, I’ll hand over to the expert drivers in our midst @andyenright & @scottnewman for their clarification.
Correct. The vast majority of vehicles will flash hazard lights under heavy braking to warn following cars as a safety feature 👍🏻
