I just saw you last week in Indianapolis and what an incredible experience! I've been a teacher for almost 10 years and damn, when you guys played this song I'm not gonna lie, at first I was beside myself. I teach preschool, and intruder/lockdown drills are a very real part of our lives. There have been several times over the years when we didn't know if it was a drill or the real thing. I've literally been whispering the itsy bitsy spider, sitting in a bathroom with eight toddlers, trying to keep them calm and quiet while I'm internally just ready to become a human shield at any second. What fucks me up though, is that the 'intruder' was once a toddler too. Nothing will change if we stay silent. Thank you for talking about this. 🤎
I came here and the was like 28 views and now there 3.2k Also I showed it to my sister and she almost didn't wanna listen to it all cause it was really intense. It is, it really is, but the message is important and all those people that are like "nah it's not a big issue" gotta hear this
Many people push off the issue. They act like it's not an issue just cause they haven't had to deal with it. There's been over 100 mass shootings this year, not just schools, and people are still arrogant about gun violence.
But in all reality everyone knows its a problem. There isn’t much we can do sadly. Some people don’t preach about it but they know it’s a problem. Not many are truly just ignoring it. I mean damn, it’s everywhere now. Always talked about.
If you want another perspective: people stop taking it seriously like fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, and blizzards the type of thing that isn’t taken seriously unless it happens to you. School shootings have been normalized because scares happen so frequently that at some point people just don’t want to be fazed so they block it out. School shootings are becoming are constant normal part of life sadly. There are schools around the country where preschoolers are having school shooting drills.
I just found your music today and i'm so amazed. This song is so important. People need to realize people kill people, and the people who do are in a really dark place. Mental health needs to be taken more seriously. More weapons won't make a difference. Love will.
I think everyone needs to hear this song i think it’s very important and I respect riz how he brought this song out to show more awareness to mental illness and gun violence and I think everyone should all listen and be more aware and help people that are around you that aren’t doing so well ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

After first listen I was so shocked I completely missed it the first time, second time I find myself humming along, now I show it to all my friends and we all love the message!!!!

Thank you man, I’ve been here for a while, I’ll always agree, I’ll love your songs, and how honest you are. Love you always riz.
Anyone else notice that Johnny found a "loaded .45" in "his dad's shoebox", but later Cindy "sees Johnny with a rifle"? Either his dad has gigantic feet, or Johnny boy decided a handgun wasn't enough.
Wow. This shit hit hard. This is such a hard topic, but it’s real. I love you so much for talking about some of the hard shit that people don’t want to seem to talk about!

So many times I have heard “just deal with it” “you just need to learn to cope” like b this isn’t minor stress and sadness mental health is a serious issue that is clearly not being talked about enough or taken seriously enough or school, government, and media/news needs to take it more seriously
People need to understand what it means when people say its a "Mental Health" crisis. • It does *NOT* mean *MENTAL ILLNESS* is the issue, because it really really isn't. • What it *DOES* mean is that our mental health is not being properly cared for and taken seriously. Mental health is akin to "Mental Hygiene," it means keeping your mental state and emotions healthy and stable, it means self care. Mental Hygiene has- and always will be- just as important as physical... and sometimes even more so. *_Mental Illness is not the issue, Mental Health is._*

Today I heard your PSA about johnny .. the first thing I thought about was situation in my school when a 10 year old girl jumped out of the second floor during the lesson (she went out to toilet) Everyone was just wondering what happened .. the worst thing is that for a long time school hid this event and after all, no one even talked about it with us, they behaved as if nothing had happened. No one even told us if she is alive... I'm glad to hear you talk about it and make people aware of how important support is. Things like that are more and more frequent .. I'm sorry I'm not the best in English

Teacher, teacher can't tell me nothing
Only word I learned was dysfunction
Ahh, yeah, ahh
Mom and daddy, you just don't get it
All the kids at school say I'm different
Ahh, yeah, ahh
[Verse 1]
Johnny's got a loaded .45
Found it in his dad's shoebox
Johnny doesn't want to be alive
But he's gotta make his school stop
He's-
Sick of being bullied, his mother's starting to worry
But she doesn't want to ask him or try to call the authorities
Now he is on the bus, to him it's just another morning
But he doesn't got a book, he's got a gun without a warning
[Verse 2]
Cindy's got a scholarship to Yale
Wants to be a nurse and spread love
Cindy's moving out before the fall
Only got a week til' school's done
Taking every final of the season, she doesn't mind 'em
She's always nice to the kids that are coming away behind her
She would never hurt a fly or bat an eye, she's way too kind
But then a flash and then a cry and sees Johnny with a rifle
[Chorus]
Teacher, teacher can't tell me nothing
Only word I learned was dysfunction
Ahh, yeah, ahh
Mom and daddy, you just don't get it
All the kids at school say I'm different
Ahh, yeah, ahh
[Verse 3]
Johnny sees Cindy in the hall
Runs to go and get her by the hair
Cindy didn't want to be involved
Johnny says "Stay the fuck here"
Starts to hear sirens and everybody is crying
The police are outside and now Cindy's inside a closet
And she doesn't want to die, she's got a bible in her pocket
But where the fuck is God when the world's getting way too violent?
[Verse 4]
Eyes. Closed
Praying for her life while the shots, go
Screaming for the cops but they're not, close
She's not writing letters but where's John, Doe
He's right here
Grabs Cindy by her bright white hair
Says to "be quiet or your life ends here"
But the door breaks down and now John gets scared
So he puts the gun to her head
Life ain't fair
"Let me tell you about my life quick
I'm the fuckin' shy kid
At the party I'm the kid that never got invited
I'm the one that failed every test, every problem
It's not fucking fair you're in Yale for your college!
Goddamn my mom, can't stand she's drunk
Pop xans, I can't stand feeling numb
Stop moving Cindy! You squeal too much!"
Pop goes the gun, another school shot up
[Chorus]
Teacher, teacher can't tell me nothing
Only word I learned was dysfunction
Ahh, yeah, ahh
Mom and daddy, you just don't get it
All the kids at school say I'm different
Ahh, yeah, ahh
[Conclusion]
Reporting live from high school
We're now learning more about the terrible events that took place
And what can drive someone that seemed like a normal kid
To do something so evil and inhumane
We're asking everyone and anyone that sees warning signs-
To please offer help and love and compassion to those who need it
Together we can make a difference
I LOVE YOU. THANK YOU RIZ.
I came here and the was like 28 views and now there 3.2k
Also I showed it to my sister and she almost didn't wanna listen to it all cause it was really intense. It is, it really is, but the message is important and all those people that are like "nah it's not a big issue" gotta hear this
When has anyone said “nah its not a big deal?” Anyone in their right mind that loves life doesn’t like school shootings. ???
@@dahnsh2374 omg :o as in "okay time to exercise escaping an active shooter" kind of drills ? :o
im crying this is amazing. everyone needs to hear this. 😭🌧
Mimansa S, why'd y'all just cry at every song? 😑
I just found your music today and i'm so amazed. This song is so important. People need to realize people kill people, and the people who do are in a really dark place. Mental health needs to be taken more seriously. More weapons won't make a difference. Love will.
It's lovely that your music has meaning.
I think everyone needs to hear this song i think it’s very important and I respect riz how he brought this song out to show more awareness to mental illness and gun violence and I think everyone should all listen and be more aware and help people that are around you that aren’t doing so well ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
honestly i found you on accident and the first song i heard was serotonin and i instantly fell in love with all of your songs and im so glad i found you because you have helped so much just by releasing a few songs thank you so much and i really hope you get really popular soon you deserve it
I love how towards the end of the song the lyrics kinda swivel towards Johnny's perspective. Amazing work.
Why is this song so underrated? It's catchy, it has a meaning and a message
It has to be heard so less people would end up becoming "Johnnys"
Wow that is ... I'm speechless!!!! Well done!!👏👏👏🌧🌧
Just came from your spotify playlist and was listening to the reason you wrote this song and i cant thank you enough for making this song! I know many people that have struggled with mental illnesses and i am trying my best to be the type of person people can go to if they need to talk, and often have been that person, but i know i can only reach so many people and knowing this song is out there gives me eminence comfort thank you Riz for making this song!
You've been one of my favorite artists for so long and ive not only cried to your lyrics about heartbreakand anxiety, but now grief as well, I attended Santa fe and this.means the world to me 💕
First time I heard it was leaving my class after a long day, didn’t really pay attention to it but my friends immediately perked up and stayed quiet. I decided to listen to it later because they brought it up. After first listen I was so shocked I completely missed it the first time, second time I find myself humming along, now I show it to all my friends and we all love the message!!!!
Wow👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Notification squad!
Edit: listened to the song. Man, I’m so happy to know there’s someone in this world who sees what. The. F*ck is going on. I guess everyone else is blind. Thank you man, I’ve been here for a while, I’ll always agree, I’ll love your songs, and how honest you are. Love you always riz.
This is so good and this needs to be heard! Proud of you RIZ!!!!
“Pop goes the gun another school shot up” Gives me chills
I love the emotion in riz's voice it just makes the song so much better.
Anyone else notice that Johnny found a "loaded .45" in "his dad's shoebox", but later Cindy "sees Johnny with a rifle"? Either his dad has gigantic feet, or Johnny boy decided a handgun wasn't enough.
This is absolutely amazing
This song is on repeat. This is such an amazing song. Not only the beat but the meaning behind it. THIS is what an artist looks like.
I'm bout to play this on repeat how did I just find this??
I just found your music today and man you are FUCKING AMAZING. LIKE WHERE HAS YOUR MUSIC BEEN ALL MY LIFE
Wow. This shit hit hard. This is such a hard topic, but it’s real. I love you so much for talking about some of the hard shit that people don’t want to seem to talk about!
Im so glad this didnt get age restricted, to youtube usually sweeps stuff like this under the rug
Karizma is fire. Cant wait for him to be on the radio
"He's right here." Sends chills up my spine every time. This is a really good song. I can kind of relate to Johnny.
Heyy😊
I saw your comment and I'm wondering if you'd like to talk? If so, just write a message to verzweifeltestaerke on insta. If not it's completely fine, I just wanted to let you know that you can if you feel like it.
Just know that you're not worthless and you're loved. I wish you all the best☺️
Just found your music today and I’m glad I did. Your music is amazing.
everyone should listen to this.
I literally cannot stop listening to this
My friend showed me your music and I’m obsessed with you now, definitely a new fan for life!❤️❤️
This is so good.
It is
Got a Recycled Youth ad on this video, noice, have a great one
so dope
This is so amazing, thank you for speaking on this topic i love you ❤
This is fire 👍
This is beyond words. Wow. I love this.
So many times I have heard “just deal with it” “you just need to learn to cope” like b this isn’t minor stress and sadness mental health is a serious issue that is clearly not being talked about enough or taken seriously enough or school, government, and media/news needs to take it more seriously
To this day, his mom blames the video games
Johnny, not blinking the whole video, my eyes hurt just watching him
There's so much meaning in this, and it's so emotional. But it needs to be heard and acknowledged
I heard the second part of the song in concert. I cannot wait until it's also released
The lyrics are so deep
Every time you have a show back home I always end up missing them I really need to rectify this
People need to understand what it means when people say its a "Mental Health" crisis.
[Chorus]
Teacher, teacher can't tell me nothing
Only word I learned was dysfunction
Ahh, yeah, ahh
Mom and daddy, you just don't get it
All the kids at school say I'm different
Ahh, yeah, ahh
[Verse 1]
Johnny's got a loaded .45
Found it in his dad's shoebox
Johnny doesn't want to be alive
But he's gotta make his school stop
He's-
Sick of being bullied, his mother's starting to worry
But she doesn't want to ask him or try to call the authorities
Now he is on the bus, to him it's just another morning
But he doesn't got a book, he's got a gun without a warning
[Verse 2]
Cindy's got a scholarship to Yale
Wants to be a nurse and spread love
Cindy's moving out before the fall
Only got a week til' school's done
Taking every final of the season, she doesn't mind 'em
She's always nice to the kids that are coming away behind her
She would never hurt a fly or bat an eye, she's way too kind
But then a flash and then a cry and sees Johnny with a rifle
[Chorus]
Teacher, teacher can't tell me nothing
Only word I learned was dysfunction
Ahh, yeah, ahh
Mom and daddy, you just don't get it
All the kids at school say I'm different
Ahh, yeah, ahh
[Verse 3]
Johnny sees Cindy in the hall
Runs to go and get her by the hair
Cindy didn't want to be involved
Johnny says "Stay the fuck here"
Starts to hear sirens and everybody is crying
The police are outside and now Cindy's inside a closet
And she doesn't want to die, she's got a bible in her pocket
But where the fuck is God when the world's getting way too violent?
[Verse 4]
Eyes. Closed
Praying for her life while the shots, go
Screaming for the cops but they're not, close
She's not writing letters but where's John, Doe
He's right here
Grabs Cindy by her bright white hair
Says to "be quiet or your life ends here"
But the door breaks down and now John gets scared
So he puts the gun to her head
Life ain't fair
"Let me tell you about my life quick

It's been 2 years and I still listen to this song every other day❤️
Johnny from The Outsiders has *sNAPPED*
OMGGGGG I LOVE IT!!! IMA SHOW IT ALL TO MY FRIENDS!!!!
Damn Riz this needs to go viral!!! This and the letter
I loved that he played this live! OOOH I was screaming it lol. He was shocked that the crowed enjoyed it. He said, "some people get scared when I play this song." Well Riz, you were in St. Louis. 🤪
