The last part is made extremely more touching if you think about it like this: The doctor went back to see Amy and Rory after the events in manhatten. He goes back to a time that's not fixed for them. Just to be with them one last time before they have to go to face the angels as he knows it.
+Levi Reddy I was wondering if you have any idea why BBC America never shows any of the Christopher Eccleston Ninth Doctor episodes? Or, am I just missing them? No one seems to know what's up with that.
John Collins they weren't that popular, I mean they set up the foundation for Doctor who but they weren't that good in terms of quality. There was an episode about bins swallowing people for example, not sure they'd be a hit in America also the accents are thicker in series 1, especially Mickey's and Americans sometimes struggle understanding Capaldi never mind a thick chavy London accent. Don't worry you haven't missed much, just Jack can't die and Rose is bad wolf because she absorbed the time vortex from the Tardis then the Doctor absorbed it back from her triggering his regeneration. Which all happened in the last ep so you're good.
I believe that I read somewhere on a 'Doctor Who' Facebook page, that BBC America doesn't have the rights to Series 1, so they can't air it. Not sure if that's true, but it would make sense as to why it is never included.
Nice thought but tbh I think the Doctor would have tried to change history if that were true. Even knowing the consequences he wouldn't have cared, he definitely would have tried to save them by making them stay on Earth
@@ismellmandude6401 if you haven't found it, search on RUclips "Doctor Who Rory's Letter". Should be the first hit. It's a bit of a coda/epilogue to that episode. It's not a filmed scene, but its basically a story board narrated by Arthur Danvil.
Technically they did all three. Rory got left behind when the Angels got him, Amy left him voluntarily to follow her husband, and they they both died. This was the MOTHER of all foreshadowing.
Honestly, out of the new Who, I think Brian was the most perceptive non-companion. Like he *could* be, but he's not the type of running around person the Doctor needs. He's intelligent, kind, he notices things others don't, sticks to his guns and knows when to ignore the Doctor and when to do his own thing, but he's also grounded and likes his own home.
That's what I came to this clip to see. I love that the Doctor is especially rubbish at stealth and guile, even though he thinks he's an expert. "Deep cover.... I have a brush!"
"Never them." One day Rory and Amy just don't come home. Brian phones them but their numbers don't appear to exist anymore. The Doctor never shows either. Brian assumes the worst has happened and mourns. I like to imagine the Ponds planned ahead for this. During their time in the past, they pulled a Kathy Nightingale and left letters and pictures for their families (or at least for Brian, who knows about their time-travelling). One day, perhaps not long after they've disappeared, Brian receives a package in the mail. Perhaps from a mysterious curly haired woman who seems somehow familiar. He opens the package and out spill _volumes_ of letters detailing Amy and Rory's lives in the past, how they're okay and lived long and _chose this._ Don't blame the Doctor, they say, he did all he could. We're okay with this outcome--so too are you allowed to be. Perhaps then he's given some closure.
That reminds me of Love Actually when Jamie is driving Aurelia home and making a fool of himself talking about football and so on. It is almost the same reaction
They didn't actually die, they were sucked into the past where the doctor can't get too, where amy and rory live there lives, publish a book, and finish there life So no promises broken... Sort of
Can someone explain to me why the doctor can't just travel like a hundred years before Rory and Amelia are sent into the past and live out those years until he can see his friends. If a hundred isn't enough he could go back a thousand or more I feel like he would do something like this if he really wanted to see them.
That we ever saw, doesn't mean that it didn't happen 'off TARDIS' - or he could have sent a postcard, or have a surrogate pass on the news. Heck, could have had Amy and Rory write a letter to Brian, and arrange for it to be mailed (like in the Angels episode where the best friend gets sucked back in time, and sends a note with her grandson - sorry, can't remember the name of the episode, but it was during Martha's time)
There was a deleted scene if i remember where Brian finds out via a grandson or something. He loses a son but still has a family member. I think that's right or i've made it up.
How is Brian the first New Who parent to ask the Doctor what happened to his previous companion?! You think that'd be something that would come up more often.
That's one thing that bothers me about some of the Doctor's companions. Rose and Clara specifically, just this whole sHocK that the Doctor-- who has lived for centuries-- has had other female companions. Rose's whole beef with Sara Jane, Clara's bit where she was like "am I the first girl he's ever brought home?" Yes honey, the Doc's centuries old and seen hundreds of planets and timelines-- but you're the only woman who has ever set foot in the TARDIS.
Though they technically didnt die on the doctor's watch, can we talk about the fact that for the dad, one day they disappeared and he never saw them again. So they still were lost to him, and it's likely the doctor never thought of telling him what happened, which is heartbreaking
I doubt he didn't think to tell him. I think he was afraid to. A lot of people theorise that when Brian confronted the Doctor here, it's actually after the Angels have already taken Amy and Rory, from the Doctor's perspective. He already knows Brian's going to lose the two most important people he has left. He couldn't tell him here, since it would probably changed fixed events, but he did get a gauge on how devastated Brian would be. I think the Doctor was just too broken from the loss the bring himself to give Brian the news.
Oh the joys of owning a time machine. The Doctor can't save amy and rory from the weeping angels but he can totally make cheap jokes about answering their messages and whisk them off for 7 weeks in an afternoon. Also, who else noticed that amy is the doctor's mother in law and his stepmother in law.
I wonder if the doctor ever visited Brian after Angels Take Manhattan to explain what happened to them and why. Maybe to forward a letter, direct him to records of their life together, or tell him he had a granddaughter. What did the rest of their friends and family think when they just disappeared forever?
Hiccup Hufflepuff I remember watching a scene where a guy shows up on Brian's doorstep with a letter explaining what happened and it turns out the guy is Amy and Rory's adopted son.
It's amazing how, despite everything that's ever happened to Earth in Doctor Who, people aren't remotely cautious of the cubes that randomly appeared and casually have them around the house.
You would think that at this point everyone on Earth would have their "In case of Alien invasion do this..." or "go to..." that's one of the few things I don't like about Doctor Who's earth, although doesn't ruin the experience, that much.
@@SantiHRod remind me, didn't the Doctor ask about how Amy doesn't know about the Daleks, despite them being around constantly? Was that settin up for somethin?
I really hated what happened to Amy and Rory. I really wanted them to have a good ending, but fucking Moffat had to go and get them killed by the fucking angels.
David Barbeschi Yeah, they were sent back in time to a point the Doctor couldn't rescue them, thanks to angel fuckery. As the Doctor said in Blink, 'the only psychopaths to kill you nicely, they just zap you into the past and let you live to death'.
Actually the real reason why The Doctor couldn't save them is because their death had become a fixed point. He still could have traveled to that time period but in a different place on Earth and then just travel normally to go get them. However the reason he never did is because their deaths became fixed. That's why he told Amy not to read from the book once they figured out they were reading their future and because the gravestone had their names on it.
+still_guns I completely agree with you. I hope something happens so that we get to see them again. All the other companions in the reboot have had big cameos in episodes after they left the Doctor.
I read a theory that season 7 takes place after Angels in Manhattan, b/c zinc the episode before this The Doctor references Rory leaving his phone charger in Henry the 8th's suite. If I'm right series 7 is just the Doctor trying to fit in more time with the Ponds before they die.
I hate hate HATE how there was no scene where the Doctor tells Brian what happened to Amy and Rory. Imagine having the Doctor promise to keep them safe and then they never come back. I felt I am missing everything since Amy, Rory and 11th doctor were gone....... They were everything to me and they meant everything for me. I did not have any reason to continue on with the drama so I just stopped watching it cause it hurt my heart.
I love how Brian is the only one who notices Amy and Rory leaving the party. Even before he points out that their clothes have changed, he's the only person looking in their direction when they head off.
That awkward moment where you are your best friends mother in law and you grew up with your daughter who you thought was your friend but then she happened to be part time lord who is called melody pond which translates to river song. Ok now that is very awkward
Did anyone else get the impression that when to doctor said “not them” it was more like he was consoling himself a instead of Brian. Shows how deeply he cares for the two
I'm really curious as to what the Doctor and Brian told everyone after Amy and Rory got sent back in time in New York and never saw the Doctor again. Did they say they'd gone to live in a different country? That they'd died? Obviously Brian knew all the details from the Doctor and possibly River ("Hi, I'm your granddaughter. I know I look a lot older than my parents, but time travel."). But what did the people who DIDN'T know about the Doctor find out?
Indi Heaton well I think their friends know of the doctor since Amy called him out at the wedding and the tardis appeared. So most likely all the people there and some others would know or hear about the doctor. But they most likely would assume they moved or are traveling with him
Amy's face at the end is just like "hah I knew he wouldn't be able to resist" and the Doctors face is like *inhales through teeth* yup I'm a time lord with a TARDIS and I just asked to stay with u, your point?
Theoretically, If Amy and Rory died together in 2012 (ages 82 and 87) due to the time paradox in The Angels Take Manhattan, then wouldn't that mean that Brian Williams would have never had a son? because Rory and Amy wouldn't have lived there respective lives (and met the doctor) having being pushed back in time to an earlier timeline. i am pretty sure that's what a paradox is, right?
What happened to the people you traveled with before? Matt: some left me, some died. Brian: look after them Spoiler alert Ligit next episode they both die. 😭
Some left me (Martha,Micky,Tegan,Jo).... some got left behind (Jack and Rose)... and some... not many but... some died (Adric and many more). Not them, not them Brian. Never them
Remembering that Amy and Rory are now dying of age in New York and will never see Rory's dad again just makes it sadder, becouse the Doctor promised him he would bring them back. 1st rule: The Doctor lies...
A lot of people are saying that the Ponds died and that the Doctor didn’t keep his promise when the Angels took them. But they didn’t kill them and technically the Doctor didn’t break his promise. To be honest, aside from being pulled out of your own time by like 60 or more years there’s not much to it. Sure you have to adapt to the change in time and start a new life, but that last one can be seen as an advantage for those who had nowhere to go. It’s basically a one-time use of time travel, you don’t die the next day or anything when you’re sent back. (Basically people are saying that it’s the Doctor’s fault for letting Amy and Rory die of old age)
God. After the ending of The Giggle... I just wish it happened with 11 and the Ponds. Obviously their arc closed in a way that wouldn't have made sense for it, but while Donna was an amazing companion and 10 will always be my favorite doctor, but Amy and 11 were always the best doctor/companion pair imo. Him coming to rest and recover with them would've been so much more meaningful, at least to me. Also would've been cool to see the Ponds start a family, one that doesn't involve part time lords, similarly to Donna.
I also wonder if the Tardis is just a jealous b and any time the doc has companions, she sends them into dangerous situations just to get rid of them hahaha
David Tennant was maybe a better actor, but Smith gave the Doctor a whole new depth, and really molded him into his own character, which is why he is so unique, and also my favorite.
After all this time, only now am I wondering what happened to Brian... did the doctor ever tell him? Did he just wait? Did he ever realise that they died? That the got trapped in time?!?
The last part is made extremely more touching if you think about it like this: The doctor went back to see Amy and Rory after the events in manhatten. He goes back to a time that's not fixed for them. Just to be with them one last time before they have to go to face the angels as he knows it.

Indi Heaton well I think their friends know of the doctor since Amy called him out at the wedding and the tardis appeared. So most likely all the people there and some others would know or hear about the doctor. But they most likely would assume they moved or are traveling with him
Brian is still waiting...
It's so sad knowing they were really the only family he truly had since Gallifrey.
Run u clever boy and remember me...
Are we ever shown how Rory’s dad reacts to the news that they were sent back in time and died?
This is the last time brian sees them before they get trapped in the past. In case anyone was wondering
0:21 Man I sure could go for a JUNE burger right about now.
I always liked Amy & Rory. I also liked when Karen Gillan spoke with that thick Scottish brogue, Lol.
John Collins
The only reason I keep watching this again and again, is that accent, even though I love in Scotland, I don't hear it That often!
Zygons, a little Easter Egg for the upcoming 50th anniversary episode.
Amy's face at the end is just like "hah I knew he wouldn't be able to resist"
and the Doctors face is like *inhales through teeth* yup I'm a time lord with a TARDIS and I just asked to stay with u, your point?
"Some left me... (Martha Jones) Some got left behind... (Rose Tyler) and some died (River Song)"
They still lived there lives in the present they just finished them in the past
That not how it works. Brian still has a son . Rory just stuck in the past with Amy.
"They will be fine they won't die". (Next Episode)
What happened to the people you traveled with before?
Matt: some left me, some died.
Brian: look after them
Spoiler alert
Ligit next episode they both die.
MR WEASLEY
I have to go back and watch this episode at some point. I don't remember any of this
the silence did that, they made you forget
richard wright the what?
Like richard said, the silence made her forget. lol
The what? Who's richard wright?
2:05 For some reason...I want to ask...about a rubber duck.
2:45 all three of those things happened to Amy and Rory
Also would've been cool to see the Ponds start a family, one that doesn't involve part time lords, similarly to Donna.
these are the equivalent of fidget cubes
so i watched this ep when it came out and I just relized that Brian is the same actor as arthur weasley
2:57 NEVER THEM he said.
WATCH ANGELS IN MANHATTAN i said.
When the doctor sneezed sounded like he said poo
Would you guys take in a weird black cube that just fell from the sky one day to your house and treat it like a pet? I wouldn't!
Victor Peterson Much sleeker than pet rocks.
So when travelling in the tardis. Do they age in real time or when they get back to their own time
Max Glaysher Real time
Max Glaysher it seems that they age slowly
Amy and Rory are my favorite companions 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I also wonder if the Tardis is just a jealous b and any time the doc has companions, she sends them into dangerous situations just to get rid of them hahaha
Is it just me or does Brian look like Arthur Weasley?
It’s same actor 😂
I just realised, he said it was mid-June, but it was snowing outside. What's the deal with that?
Rory's Dad was played by Mark Williams, who also played Ron's Dad in Harry Potter. Does that mean Ron and Rory are related?
106 the dor on the box closses on its own
1:06
this is the episode before amy and rory 'die'... 😭
I do miss you Amy!
RORY LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE MR WALDVOGEL (a history teacher)
The end of this video is just so sad
i just got why its called power of three. anything to the power of three is being cubed
Matt, where are your eyebrows?
It'd be funny if this was the doctor AFTER amy/rory were sent back by the angel
YOU MARRIED HENRY THE 8TH ON OUR ANIVERSARRY!
Wait, Henry the 8th? Isn’t that the guy who gets married a lot then kills all his wives?
I miss Amy and Rory :(
1:34 I wanna watch that!!!
