- Spread é um projeto paralelo abortado por Dave Navarro e o baterista do Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chad Smith. A dupla escreveu e gravou uma série de demos no próprio Blue Light Studios de Dave, para um álbum planejado com a tentativa intitulada Unicorns & Rainbows: The Pelican. Essas demos contaram com as aparições de Red Hot Chili Pepper Flea e Twiggy Ramirez, que é conhecido por seu trabalho com Marylin Manson, Nine Inch Nails e A Perfect Circle. Eventualmente Chad Smith saiu do projeto, e o nome Spread foi retirado devido a um conflito com uma banda existente com o mesmo nome.
Dave Navarro acabaria regravando a maior parte do álbum, que já continha elementos de suas demos do Rhimorse, e incorporou as músicas em seu álbum solo Trust No One.
Estas são as demos originais que nunca foram lançadas oficialmente, mas vazaram e chegaram às mãos de colecionadores de forma não oficial. Essas demos têm um som menos polido e mais áspero em comparação com as versões encontradas no álbum solo de Dave. Algumas dessas demos foram oficialmente lançadas como faixas bônus ou b-sides para singles do álbum solo de Dave.
Spread is an aborted side project by Dave Navarro and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith. The pair wrote and recorded a number of demos in Dave’s own Blue Light Studios, for a planned album with the tentative titled Unicorns & Rainbows: The Pelican. These demos featured appearances by fellow Red Hot Chili Pepper Flea, and Twiggy Ramirez who is known for his work with Marylin Manson, Nine Inch Nails and A Perfect Circle. Eventually Chad Smith dropped out of the project, and the Spread name was dropped due to a conflict with an existing band of the same name.
Dave Navarro would end up re-recording most of the album, which already contained elements of his Rhimorse demos, and incorporated the songs into his solo album Trust No One.
These are the original demos were never officially released, but were leaked and made their way into collector’s hands in unofficial form. These demos have a less polished and rougher sound compared to the versions found on Dave’s solo album. A couple of these demos were officially released as bonus tracks or b-sides for singles from Dave’s solo album.

God I remember when I heard these demos in the early 2000's thru Napster....brings back a lot of memories. Say what u want but Trust No One is up there as one of my favorite solo albums. Same with Weiland's 12 Bar Blues. Thanx for posting!

@@XiDrinx Flea wasn't on it. Most of instruments recorded Dave. Only bandmate from RHCP who featured on this recording was Chad.
