Yes, its crazy how hard it is to do something this basic.there is no easy way if you only need alpha and nothing else. I'm glad it has helped you and I appreciate your comment.
Hi thanks for the tutorial! Unfortunately this isn't work for glass/transparent objects for me, as glass objects still appear opaque. I'm using CPU to render (I know that Arnold GPU doesn't support transmissive materials for some reason), I've checked the box for "Transmit AOVs" in my shader, and made sure both Camera and Transmission are at 0 for my skydome. Please help?
Hi Andy, Alpha creates a black and white mask for spaces that contain an object. So, if there is a glass, the mask will be white in the shape of the glass and black everywhere there is no object. Even if there is another object in the scene (even if it's all glass), it would still show an entirely white background.
Hello, how i can place shadow that the object project and object in two different files? to make a good composition at photoshop using Arnorld render Maya2019
I tried doing the animation rendering, with alpha leaving my character white and the background is transparent. How am I going to make the character have color?
Hi, Try rendering it as JPG instead of PNG or TIFF. JPG can not have transparency, therefore it will replace it with Black color. Let me know if that doesnt work, or if its not what you meant.
If I understand correctly, and assuming you export the sequence using this method that I'm showing here. this would create a black and white image that technically speaking does not have transparency. so , in after effects when you intoroduce it as alpha, you should import it as different layer and address it as "Luma Matte" /"Luma inverted Matte" under "Track Matte". this way, anywhere that is black would be transparent/or visible depending on the setting you chose.
Bumer. but this is for the times you only need alpha channel. for other situations where GPU speed is prefered, alpha channel is included in the rendered PNG or TIFF file..
Thanks, Man 2023 and this is still a problem. Thanks for the video it helped me alot
Yeah, I'm glad it helped you! cheers

thx and one Big Like ;)
You are very welcome! and thanks for the Big Like ;)
Why doesnt it work in After Effects? When I try to alpha a sequence, alpha is not working and I cant get the transparency to export as png.
