You have to remember that most people that play consoles are kinda not computer knowledgeable. First they couldn't probably trade parts out. They have to buy one or have it built. I charge 100 dollars just to put it together then no one ever mentioned a copy of windows that 100 dollars and don't say go to though cheap cd key sites those are not legal I know been building pcs for 30 years. All said and done with new parts a gpu 300 to 350 cpu 150 to 250 case 100 min fancy fans 100 ram 100 storage 140 cpu cooler 100 board 100 to 150. So not including windows id say 1000 dollars min. And if they could do it themselves they probably already have one. This guy a pc snob.
@@patrickhewitt7899 This is BS. with all due respect, you sound like an amateur. Nobody are buying windows for $100 if they have any sense. Windows is FREE on MS official site and instructions are even there on how to create installation media on a USB stick. Then you buy a $12 key off a keysite IF you really want one, but it isn't a necessity, nor does it have any impact on your gaming experience. I could destroy you on the price of even more components that you listed, such as ram. ddr4 kits are going for under $30 these days, no one is buying $140 cpu coolers for the tier of cpu you mentioned, good cases can be found for well under $100, AM4 boards capable of handling even a 5800x3D are going for under $60...The list goes on. Anyone with any salt in the PC building spaces knows you are BS.
And yet, as real as these PS5 Pro shortcomings are, fanboys will still defend PlayStation after this scam. Sony could have simply overclocked the CPU alone for these 5 to 10 fps gains and slapped a $700 price tag on it
Willing to bet that most of the die hard consoles players have no idea what “discrete gpu” actually means versus “soc.” Maybe a deep dive vid giving specifics about each will help in the education. An soc will never compete 1 to 1 with a discrete gpu - regardless of Apple’s M series
So you telling me the PS five pro can’t run cyberpunk correctly. The first PC I built was to run cyberpunk and it had: 3600 CPU,16GB of RAM DDR4, 5500XT 8GB GPU, 650 W power supply, x570 edge motherboard. SSD 1TB and 4TB. The cost was no more than $700. I just upgraded the GPU in that system with 7800XT, added 16 more GB of Ram, 750 w power supply. And now I’m playing majority of everything 4k 60 or higher.
I have a ryzen 5 2600, upgrading to a ryzen 7 5700x3d, i suggest you do the same as a ryzen 3600 will bottleneck the 7800xt in cpu intensive games, upgrade to a r7 5700x3d and your pc will be running for years to come
@@tgreg9542 I started building my PC when PS5 came out. My m.2 1TB SSD was on sale through Best Buy for $64 and SSD 4TB drive was $100 both was on sale. This was like 2019
The PS5 pro is only $200 more than the base model because the Series X is $200 more than the Series S. It’s been 4 years, the base should be 300 and the pro 500.
Obsoletely right, but you forgot, Microsoft doesn't have to reduce its prices, all thanks to PlayStation dropping a ps5pro 200 bucks more! It makes Xbox's two sku's. XlS look like they are still a bargain because the inflation talks. MS/Xbox outwitted PlayStation here. 🤔 16.7 is greater than 12, and Sony wasn't about to price its premium for the same as 4yr 12tflop series X. Lol😂 bated wars over plastic. All the while, XsS is 200-250 entry-level still.
@ it’s holiday season. The new digital 2tb white X is already down to $430 and soon the disc X and Series S 1tb will also drop to $330 and $170 like last holiday.
@Blu3ManiC whilst what you are saying, maybe, right? Listen at what you said to me clearly... "holiday" holiday season prices is not what the factual price is. Unless they become permanent, in which they should be, those prices imo! Ps5 skus as well. They're supposed to be entry-level gaming boxes... with affordable as the focus always. This why I switched to PC, console prices are still going up. 4 years later, 600-800 bucks is ridiculous 🙄 4 years after reveal... Holiday prices don't count
Here is an example of the point being made perfectly. I have an asus zepherus G14, with a 7940HS, 48gigs of ram, and a 4060GTX. It can run every game I own on max settings at consistantly HIGHER framerates than my series X and PS5. The most recent being monster hunter wilds beta. Which is INSANELLY CPU bound, but really not an issue on the GPU. Even on the series X, its running at 30, with the settings somewhere around medium, with most of the crazy physics stuff, draw distance, and other cpu heavy settings either on low or OFF. On my asus, i have it all at ultra settings, 2160x1600 DLSS balanced, all cpu settings maxed, game runs between 50 to 75fps "my screen has auto refresh so you cant see drops till sub 30". Why does my laptop run so much better? Because the 7940HS is almost TWICE as powerful as whats in the PS5 and Series X. So this means, when the ps5 pro comes out, it wont play MHW any better than my series X did. I bought a ps4 pro, because it was both a cpu and gpu upgrade. The ps5 pro is a waste of everyones time and money.
I mean who cares!?! Sweet, a walking simulator. I own a XSX and love it but the last thing I want to play is another walking sim. Give us an actual good game, like Black Myth Wukong!!
@@mynameismud-qd9vu Yeah definitely but the PS5 Pro is an even more underwhelming and smaller upgrade over the PS5 than the PS4 Pro was to the PS4 which just goes to show how dumb this console is. This console is simply a scam.
I'm on the fence about the Pro, but isn't PSSR the main pull rather than brute horse power? You're also showcasing games that were not pro-patched. Obviously the benefits of the Pro will be minimal. Titles like Spider-Man 2, TLOU2, Demon's Souls, Final Fantasy are benefiting perfectly from the Pro by basically running Quality-mode (with extra details) at 60 fps. I'm no expert but I think it's "fine" for a mid-gen refresh. Extremely expensive for what it is though, I'll admit.
I don't really get the issue? DF said it was basically about as good as someone could hope for given it is a mid gen refresh. For me, I need it, because I have large high quality TVs, and I find the PS5 experience to be so underwhelming, that I can no longer actually use my PS5. So I feel held hostage, I feel ripped off... but I have bought a Pro. And from what I understand (it hasn't arrived yet)... it'll be satisfactory, as all I want, is to play the games at the best quality available.... and this is that option. Yes I have a high end PC, and will continue to play 3rd party games on that....But I do still have a large library of PS games, including VR etc etc. But I have 120hz, VRR etc... I have been extremely disappointed in the PS5, so I am hoping that this eases the pain I have been feeling when trying to play FF16 etc. (i'm too far in to restart on PC). It's a shame about the CPU and how that pertains to GTA6 etc... but i'm not actually hyped for GTA6... I played 1-5... I'm more interested in Exodus from the Mass Effect Devs who left Bioware... or... not a lot really. I just want to enjoy what i've already bought, then the industry can die in a fire. Clearly the future for gaming is.... going off a cliff. But I will enjoy what I already paid for damnit!
@TheBoochi-j7b I'm happy for you that, that has been your experience. Perhaps the issue is that my PC and PS are plugged into the same TV... so when i go from 4k/ 60... to blurry messes... which is what FF16 is on performance mode... it's really stark a difference, because I go back to my PC and it's clear as day, same screen. But it's fine... clearly I would be financially better off if I didn't find things to complain about in this regard.
You are right and wrong. Yes the CPU on the PS5 pro is bottlenecked however the games need to be optimized to take advantage of the PS5 Pro. Sony has released and enhanced game list with all the games that are optimized to run on the PS5 pro. Games that are not on the list will only have a 10% - 20% boost in performance.
I don't know about being both "right and wrong" at the same time. lol Any game needs to be optimized to take advantage of available CPU. Sacrificing design elements like textures, VF, AI density etc. This is not new. (I develop games) Remember Gotham Knights? It was CPU limited at launch, but got some very needed optimization. Developers who can utilize the 10% headroom will see benefits, if not, they'll have to make more changes in the given areas.
2:52 I'm pretty sure the limitation would be due to the power delivery and/or thermal design. Setting a higher CPU clock needs more power and makes more heat. PS5 seems to have particularly terrible cooling and a console's power supply is usually just barely big enough.
The amount of people I have seen buying a Pro, the disc drive & massive TB NVME drives that are well upwards of $100+ for 2TB of storage makes the people who say PC gaming is too expensive look like a joke A 7700XT + 5700x build would destroy the Pro for less money than a Pro + Disc Drive (which are currently being scalped for $100+)
Maybe. just maybe people don't want to deal with a pc for gaming.. Hasn't it come across your little universe that some people do not care (ever!) about all the hassle a pc is? Some people just like simplicity and are happy paying a little bit extra for that luxury. Guess what? If you don't feel the same? Well do not buy it. Mind blowing, isn't it?
@@a.n.3284 my man, my comment was not meant to tell you how to spend your money It was meant to point out the hypocrisy of people that say PC gaming is too expensive & to let people know it is a myth Some people are tired of getting stretched out by Sony

@KyleSetFire it will not and then pony's really think bo6 will run at 120 it will not the trash ass console can not even handle elden ring at a stable 60 he'll it can not run bg3 at a stable 60 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’ve been playing most of my library on the pro and every game I’ve played runs better and sticks closer to the dynamic resolution ceiling. If there is a handful of games that don’t benefit as much then oh well. I’ve played PC games that don’t work without mods and RUclips guides. The pro is a luxury item and most people just can’t afford it. $700 really isn’t that much money today.
I personally did run into a moment where even the base ps5 looked better than a computer. My wife and I were playing diablo 4 shortly after release. her on her ps5 and me on my computer. She was playing at 4k on her 55” 4k tv and I was on my Rtx 2060 on a 1080p monitor.
If you know tech u knew what the ps5 pro was, better graphics at 60 but not better then quaility mode, if a game could not hit 60 fps on base then ps5 pro is not hitting 60fps unless the gpu is the bottleneck which is not the case for 30 fps games but in most cases the cpu is where console and pc separates the most
I been saying for months on my channel that this update was going to be minuscule. That pssr tech is going to lower performance on games that already run at a inconsistent 60fps
I only use consoles when I want to play something less intensive on my 4k tv, and use my PCs as my primary systems with higher fps monitors. I’m neutral when it comes to what others use to game, but it is true about the cpu limitations with consoles, we seen it in the Xbox Ones using outdated processors.
Would have been better if Sony kept the same gpu and just added the pssr chip and upgraded the cpu to 5700x3d This would yield the performance benefit that everyone wants. The graphics are good enough on base ps5, the stats even shows players wanting performance not more graphics IMHO sony fumbled the bag on this pro approach Most modern games are cpu heavy. How did they not go the cpu route is mind boggling Chasing Ray tracing with 3600 makes no sense
Only tested veilguard on Pro yet and there is a big visual difference. So far so good. On a 85 TV ITS a great experience. CPU Limit hits a number of games but alot of games just Look alot better according to DF. Video is nitpicking.
Damn! So glad to be a PC player. That 41 and 44 fps would make my stomach hurt. In my build I went all AMD the 7800x3D processor and a 7900XTX GPU and I play baldurs gate 3 maxing out my monitor refresh rate at 165 1440p resolution natively. They will never lump me in with those consoles. Plus I like editing in Da Vinci resolves fusion tab. That’s another game for me if you can believe it. And a console will never be able to even load it.
So is there some Rdna 4 implementation inside the APU tht enables AI learning? The question i always had was could Sony have updated the base PS5 to enable PSSR? I believe PSSR is Sony spinoff of FSR upscaling tht doesn't require any AI whatsoever...was the extra $200 for PSSR or the graphics chip? So many questions.
There is no point in comparing to PC; PC is always better. Sony is only for exclusives and the rare ports that run poorly on PC due to stutters. I bought the Pro and also have a PC. One of my biggest issues with the regular PS5 is that some games look blurry in performance mode. Still very expensive, but can be worth it if you manage to sell your ps5 and care about exclusives and performance.
What you said at 3:17 is partly true. However that is the design of the PlayStation 5 because it uses smart shift technology, diverting power from cpu to gpu and vice versus depending on the workload demand at the moment in time. It has nothing to do with dedicated parts, but them managing the power budget of the console. The series consoles run at fixed clocks at all times, and so such diversion is not needed on them.
I mean, it should've been pretty obvious. The pro's main goal is to market sony's new pisser tech. Also, i hope people know that not even an upscaler can help with cpu intensive games
you should also deduct the price of the SSD to your 280 dollar difference. as it was also upgraded from 800gb to 2 TB. so deduct at least 1 TB of premium m.2 there
Why? Storage does not have significant relationship to CPU/GPU rendering performance. In fact on a gaming PC, I have various storage options for different needs at different price points.
@@tehCostHD The console has limited options with storage compared to the PC. You can only use and NVME in the PS5 whereas, you can use 3 different typed of storage media on a PC. The biggest mistake console players make is to try and extend the argument past performance. Its almost always a trap. If you want, you can search on RUclips to see games tested on the cheap PC hard drive and see that it is negligible on performance in many cases.
@@VGFightSchool but I’m not talking about performance. The ps5 is 500 dollars. Adding 1.2 TBs of extra storage on top of that makes the ps5 pro 600 dollars BEFORE any other upgrades.
10:55 thank god, Microsoft made the right call not introducing a mid gen refresh if this is the effort Sony wants to put into it's mid gen refresh... what a waste of time and effort... and yeah good luck with GTA6 there PS5, PS5Pro and Xbox Series X/S ... you guys are going to need it..
This PRO is kinda necessary as test for PSSR...and still yet far behind compared to what PS4 PRO has been in the 4th generation. If PSSR-Implementation is not available, because developers will not put additional work into this, there is not much left of the power...or in some cases PSSR produces noticeble artifacts, flicker, noise on reflective surfaces or volumetric fogs which is not good and counteracts the idea of a higher resolution/quality image. Since they skipped AI-Framegeneration, the slow CPU is a true problem in certain scenarios. And for VR2? Hmm, artifacts are there much more noticeable than on flatscreen. But they already had the magic bullet dynamic foveated Rendering, which many developers skipped due to incompatiblities with their game engines or simply no money to spend for a programmer. It worked...but if only 5% of the games are using this.....it feels like a waste. PSSR is more of this philosophy. May be easier to justify because it is useable for flatgames....but i just do not like that. It alwas sounds like "it could be so awesome, if....".
@@wozzielfc401 it's not worrying, it's simple observation. Last I checked people are entitled to thier opinion. My opinion is this isn't worth the money, your is, it is. That's your opinion. Like plugging in a new GPU makes someone some sort of hackerlord doing secret magic no Playstation user could ever understand. Did anyone saw Baldur's gate 3 on DF review? 1 fps increase on ps5 pro. 700$ price for a 1 fps increase. And the most good looking ps5 pro is horizon forbidden west but its not using the PSSR on ps5 pro it was just using its native in-engine upscaler. My guess is, the price of ps5 pro for 700$ is not a subsidize console anymore like what they will do with the ps6.
DF's Baldurs Gate 3 showcase is very important. It is a clear sign of what to expect when GTA 6 comes out. Expect GTA 6 to be way more CPU intensive than BG3.
Okay, so what I noticed with all games for PS5 and of course PS5 pro. Games are not optimized for your console. They are games made for older hardware, so of course it will run smoothly. The PS5 and Pro hardware are higher than recommended specs for all games. If this is "Optimization" for consoles. Then PC has no problem playing most AAA Titles made today or in the future.
The most positiv with pro is.. yes its not making. Huge diffrence in fps. For most cpu limited games buuuut. It brings crisp and better good looking .. and those for those games that it does a better fps boost it just looks better..and thats just good nothing to be shamed of. It is more positives then negatives thats the most importent.. from the review from digital foundary.
I enjoy playing on console and pc. To me graphics are not everything. But the fact that this was an obvious cash grab and playstation was called out on it. Yet people will still buy it so playstation will still make there money and will learn nothing yet make ps6 for the same price as pro or more. At this point i myself am looking at moving fully to pc because of the limitations of conoles and im never home and play on my laptop more then my console.
I find that the combination of PC or laptop for at home and the steam deck is even better. You can even stream everything to the steam deck for games that are too high spec requirements, although TBF I'm loving like a dragon infinite wealth ATM and the cross play is awesome. And it saves lugging around the laptop. Definitely transforms your gaming as the deck has instant resume like the switch or Xbox series X/S.
@fvjtfjnx6535 nice i hear steam decks are good but never bought one bought a switch and other hand helds nintendo mostly and don't use them for very long before they start collecting dust lol. Right now my laptop is more powerful then my pc that I bought over 2 years ago just bought laptop this year thought about a steam deck but laptop works better for me.
There is nothing wrong with the statement but it doesn't apply to the PS5 Pro. The largest problem (and it's a double edged sword) is the fact that it uses PC architecture in the first place. On the PS3 - unique architecture FORCED developers to offload some GPU compute load TO THE CELL. There is SO MUCH compute power in the GPU of the PS5 Pro - but are developers properly utilizing it? NO. We are getting garbage optimization today on the LEAD PLATFORM. There is PLENTY of CPU in the PS5. PLENTY of RAM. PLENTY of GPU COMPUTE. OPTMIZE FOR IT.
@@VGFightSchool It's was previously available on Xbox at one point I already have it in my library, think it was on gamepass too because I got it cheaper. Just wanted to give you heads up if you are prepping a vid.
Death Stranding Directors Cut has just been released on Xbox it's also only £18/$20 instant purchase for me and it's a play anywhere title. Another PS console exclusive bites the dust.
Based on Nintendo success I doubt people going to run to a ps5 pro and get ripped off like a diddy party. Small fps and resolution boost for 250 extra ain’t it
Your math is bad it's more like you sell your whole pc at 500 dollars, then add 200 dollars. Not canalbize it, then get a cpu and gpu. Even if you did that you would get maybe 60 for the cpu and 150 for the gpu for a total of 310 plus 200 total 510 a new radeon or nvidia card would be at a minimum 300 so you get a 5000 series cpu that combo might do 1080p 60 or more. Not 1440 or 4k. And before you say I don't know pcs I've been building them since 1994. I have a ryzen 5950x 64 gigs of ram and a nvidia 4080 super and it stupid expensive the cpu cost me the same price as a standard ps5 and the gpu 200 dollars more than a ps5 pro not including fans storage board case. So in the end, it cost me 2 PS5s and one ps5 Pro. It's not that economical to build a reasonable pc. Yes I got a ps5 pro and I did it to get better ray tracing.
I hope not to many ppl are falling into buying this crap already owning a ps5 and teach sony a freaking lesson and return it if you can its not worth it imo.
All these consoles are good hardware within the walled garden market. The 5Pro however is just overpriced crap imo . Sony is milking its players in every single area it can. I’m a lifelong console user but after getting a taste of PC via Deck - I’ll be giving PC full rig a try at maybe $1k before I ever entertain a $700 console. Console & PC are so close in similarity, imo, that more and more traditionally console peeps will merge over. The simplicity of console will always have its place but the times are a changin’
I m also playing new world on pro..wow. what a great diffrence from ps5... more smooth and crisp..but u have to play pro on oled vrr ..best performance
I’m loving my ps5 pro. To me it feels and looks different. I’ve been my games over again because of it. I don’t want pc because how much space it takes. I can aim better on a pc but feels too easy.
Funny thing that no one is showing FPS in game while fighting, instead, they show us Witcher 3 entering the city which is expected to have lower fps in general, but come on, show that thing in action! Let's see all these games with some real thing going on!
I mean it’s still the best video game console in terms of graphical capability. PC is not a console, and that’s why it gets bad games optimization, you guys get the leftovers of our games. Developers don’t care about you.
Nixxes, Jetpack Interactive, PlayStation developers, cares about us. Don't make it sound like you're special on the console. PC has PlayStation devs pushing out optimization feats on our behalf.
I'm building 💪 PC's from the early 90s for games and also for music production, and for me to see Sony's blunder with the PS5 pro is a complete train wreck is like playing gulf with a cannon ball and I'm disappointed with Mark Cerney engineering overlooking the jewel center piece of the design of the PS5 pro is it's CPU and that's a critical part along with its native clock ⏰️ speed limits that governs the hardware performance with memory capacity and capabilities. If a CPU is weakest linked to the hardware and GPU and RAM are not a performance factor with terabyte in memory system, it would be a waste.
I told you TIME AND TIME AGAIN that the PS5 is not a 6700 and now Sony tells you at 12:52 it is a 5600 XT. You may want to read the comments so you don't make a fool of yourself? That GPU is 4 years old. Which is normal for AMD. Make your money off PC players and when they no longer want it, sell it to console. They make money both ways.
The hardware specs and behavior have had PC analysts compare it to a 6700 (non-XT) and it behaved like it (Iceberg Tech, TheTerks, DF). HOWEVER, it could be that you are right because of the CPU carrying it. But when placed side by side with a 6700 it performs similarly. Maybe that's a complement to the 5600xt itself.
@@VGFightSchool No it did not. Gamers Nexus, which every PC gamer trusts, said PS5 was a GTX 1060 to GTX 1070 depending on the game. At 12:52 Sony tells you PS5 PRO is a 5600 XT which techpowerup states is the same as a 1070 TI but we are talking the PRO so it should be the TI version. The 6700 non-XT is 25% faster according to techpowerup so I am spitting facts and you can go find everything I say. The console has the same core count as the 6700 but the clock speeds are way lower, about two tiers lower. The memory on the console is so slow that it is 14 Gbps while the RX 6700 (non-XT) has 16 Gbps. I am not a laptop person and Gamers Nexus compared it to desktop and at 12:52 Sony compared it to desktop. So I do not know if they make a weak RX 6700 laptop version and I don't care. lol Have a great day.
👀 10:49 This feels like they made this console to try to regain the power crown narrative in tflops and the most powerful console... but CoD and ABK, Bethesda, and Ninja Theory are now owned by Xbox. So now that graphics is better in the box , it's only better for Xbox showcasing and software sales! This is such a checkmate space in time for Xbox as a software service... they win even when ps5pro wins slightly bigger power narrative. CoD is no longer a driving force for, pick a side fanboys! Like 2K and Madden, maybe GTA6 still may work for Playstation... but SquareE and others are out on the money-hatted practices. Xbox just needs to enter the handheld market... bring mobile more into Xbox games ecosystem. ❤Great video, VG 🎉
cover No Man's Sky new PS5 Pro update... 8k 30fps / 4k 60fps with "improved lighting, ultra quality reflections and higher quality ambient occlusion in all modes".
Same CPU, same RAM, no stand, no disc drive, barely a bump in power (just 4 more TF's than the Series X), and a larger SSD you could've bought years ago and pop in it. All for $700, boy... if you bought this... you are the MARK.
Im not delusional PC is fire i love it i honestly only deal with PS5 due to console exclusives...I'll try the pro and if im not satisfied its going back lol
As the pro is a digital version the price comparison should be with the digital PS5 at $399 then add the stand price, so $330. However Sony were happy to make up the difference by other hardware sales like the PS4 to cover the price difference of the PS5 digital but this is not applied in any way to the pro. The CPU part of the APU is over 4 years old so will be costing even less than it did when the PS5 released. Similar to the same GPU parts of the APU that match the PS5 architecture. 2Gb of DDR5 is also dirt cheap and will be bought in bulk. WiFi 7 cards also will not be breaking the bank, it's a common component. Teardowns of the pro only show a slightly beefier PSU and the apu as changes and it only costs as a single purchase around $50 to upgrade from 1tb to 2tb on PC, and Sony will have bought these in bulk not individual pushing down the price. Even the heatsink was only held on by the thermal paste, so it you buy one, don't drop it or knock it over without the stand if you skimp on the $30. For a console with "pro" monicker, you only get the standard controller too. This is definitely inside the premium price point bracket.
The sad part is that the marketing wasn’t clever at all and we all saw it coming from a mile away but these fan boys were just hyping each other up for no reason this just gave Sony the excuse to charge more for there hardware 💀
It's not even a 4070 equivalent. It's around 4060-4060Ti. LOL Oh wait, to be more correct, the PS5 Pro's GPU is probably almost as strong as 4070, but because of its weak CPU and the fact that they're a combined unit (APU) and sharing the same RAM instead of having dedicated VRAM, it's practically run games worse than RX 6800 / 4060 Ti.
A lot of the fuelling for this whole PS5 pro fanfare has come from Digital Foundry. One video they make one statement, a different one the next. On the unboxing video, Oliver quoted at the end of the video that it was a generational leap. This video because the CPU bound problems which cannot be avoided patch or no patch without rewriting the game, Oliver is saying it is not a generational leap. On other videos with tests where patches have been done the internal render resolution on the pro is less than 900p and upscaled to 2160 for example to try to increase framerate. Peter to pay Paul only. On comments I posted on other videos stating this I continue to get abuse replies along the lines its not patched yet or optimised, and they will start flooding in here any second.
PS5 Pro is a JOKE i definitely regret getting one Sony didn't even added all PS4 Pro features meaning for old PS4 games i still need my PS4 Pro the Only reason to buy a Pro is the 2TB storage but if you already have PS5 for the same Money you can get 8TB NVME SSD it's just insane how Overpriced this thing is plys it's made from Low Quality Recycled plastic the cheapest crap available
It's like you said they just want to position themselves as the premium brand. So they needed to put something out there so that the premium customer could go for. But the real problem is developers are now lazy and just don't optimize their games. They would much rather complain about the hardware and then push graphics to the max then try to make anything run appropriately.

It runs correctly, just drops framerate in certain areas and the Pro only has a marginal improvement on that game

100% EXACTLY THIS, this is what I have been saying, it's been YEARS since the XSX/PS5 were released....
Bro. Death stranding is now coming to Xbox. Just FYI

@@mynameismud-qd9vu Sony did the same thing last generation too with the PS4 Pro. Clearly they didn't learn their lesson.
@@k.23_02 Yeah, but the PS4 Pro was a more underwhelming upgrade in my opinion, but at least it wasn't horribly overpriced.

My contention is the price to performance ratio. It makes ZERO sense.
@@VGFightSchool Can't argue about the price. The fact that the disc-reader is excluded makes it even worse.

Lol I have high end tv, s to along with a PS5 slim and the games run and look great on my PS5 slim lol.
I don't know about being both "right and wrong" at the same time. lol
Any game needs to be optimized to take advantage of available CPU. Sacrificing design elements like textures, VF, AI density etc. This is not new. (I develop games)
Remember Gotham Knights? It was CPU limited at launch, but got some very needed optimization. Developers who can utilize the 10% headroom will see benefits, if not, they'll have to make more changes in the given areas.
2:52
I'm pretty sure the limitation would be due to the power delivery and/or thermal design. Setting a higher CPU clock needs more power and makes more heat. PS5 seems to have particularly terrible cooling and a console's power supply is usually just barely big enough.
The amount of people I have seen buying a Pro, the disc drive & massive TB NVME drives that are well upwards of $100+ for 2TB of storage makes the people who say PC gaming is too expensive look like a joke
A 7700XT + 5700x build would destroy the Pro for less money than a Pro + Disc Drive (which are currently being scalped for $100+)
Maybe. just maybe people don't want to deal with a pc for gaming.. Hasn't it come across your little universe that some people do not care (ever!) about all the hassle a pc is? I’ve been playing most of my library on the pro and every game I’ve played runs better and sticks closer to the dynamic resolution ceiling. If there is a handful of games that don’t benefit as much then oh well. I’ve played PC games that don’t work without mods and RUclips guides. The pro is a luxury item and most people just can’t afford it. $700 really isn’t that much money today.
And they said to bring people from pc to ps5?
I personally did run into a moment where even the base ps5 looked better than a computer. My wife and I were playing diablo 4 shortly after release. her on her ps5 and me on my computer. She was playing at 4k on her 55” 4k tv and I was on my Rtx 2060 on a 1080p monitor.
Did you see Deathstranding DC is available on Xbox Series X/S
Would have been better if Sony kept the same gpu and just added the pssr chip and upgraded the cpu to 5700x3d
This would yield the performance benefit that everyone wants. The graphics are good enough on base ps5, the stats even shows players wanting performance not more graphics
IMHO sony fumbled the bag on this pro approach
Most modern games are cpu heavy. How did they not go the cpu route is mind boggling
Chasing Ray tracing with 3600 makes no sense
Literally said a whole lot of nothing just to boast about a game that is more CPU intensive and that is not graphically demanding whatsoever
Nobody gives a shit mate.
The Playstation 5 Professional Scalpers. Digital Foundry cooked Sony so hard I can smell it from here. Do not buy this shit people.
Zen 5 would be high end vs Zen 2. I recently upgraded from a 5900X to the 9700X I definitely feel the difference.
All I Gotta say I bought the PS five Pro scam is #
What you said at 3:17 is partly true.
I originally read it as “smart sh*t technology” - so I had to read it again because there was no way that’s what it said 🤣
Smart shift has only ever been used in 2 products. The PS5 and some random Dell laptop 😂

If you want, you can search on RUclips to see games tested on the cheap PC hard drive and see that it is negligible on performance in many cases.
@@VGFightSchool but I’m not talking about performance. The ps5 is 500 dollars. Adding 1.2 TBs of extra storage on top of that makes the ps5 pro 600 dollars BEFORE any other upgrades.

thank god, Microsoft made the right call not introducing a mid gen refresh if this is the effort Sony wants to put into it's mid gen refresh... what a waste of time and effort...
and yeah good luck with GTA6 there PS5, PS5Pro and Xbox Series X/S ... you guys are going to need it..

It'll depend on your budget.

It is more positives then negatives thats the most importent.. from the review from digital foundary.
I will not rub their noses in it. I will just tell them to be more conservative in their analysis in the future. Let this be a learning experience.
I enjoy playing on console and pc. To me graphics are not everything. But the fact that this was an obvious cash grab and playstation was called out on it.
VG! Death stranding just released on xbox today! I expect coverage!
Heh! Next vid.
No. Fucking. Way..
@@VGFightSchool
It's was previously available on Xbox at one point I already have it in my library, think it was on gamepass too because I got it cheaper. But it was limited to the basic version not the directors cut version. Sorry can't provide further details had a bad few days can't focus today properly.
Just wanted to give you heads up if you are prepping a vid.
@@fvjtfjnx6535 I remember it being on PC gamepass.
@@fvjtfjnx6535 it was never available on xbox before now.. I guess sonys block finally expired damn that was long wasnt that a ps4 game
Small fps and resolution boost for 250 extra ain’t it
You’re making an argument for games that haven’t been patched to take advantage of the GPU or PSSR 🙄
So you’re saying price to performance is the same you can buy a 700 $800 PC that does what the PlayStation pro does?
no. That can do better.
This Ps5 pro is made for people like Digital Foundry. So they can shill that console to unaware masses.
Death stranding is officially on Xbox now
Trash 😂
The FPS will tank like mad. Action scenes and vfx do that to any hardware.
They show the open world games, because they usually put more stress on the CPU, which is the weak link in the PS5 Pro.
Show me a gaming pc for 700 that does what the pro can do?????
I mean it’s still the best video game console in terms of graphical capability.
PC is not a console, and that’s why it gets bad games optimization, you guys get the leftovers of our games. Developers don’t care about you.
Nixxes, Jetpack Interactive, PlayStation developers, cares about us. Don't make it sound like you're special on the console. PC has PlayStation devs pushing out optimization feats on our behalf.
@ mostly garbage optimized games
@@Semi-Addict-Gamer You call Spider-Man 1 and 2 garbage?
You'll answer for that. lol
So I do not know if they make a weak RX 6700 laptop version and I don't care. lol
Have a great day.
Facts thanks bro....returning this shit asap

get that 7900xt i have the 7900 gre because i dont think they had a 7900xt in stock
it's like a 4070 Bruh!
Same CPU, same RAM, no stand, no disc drive, barely a bump in power (just 4 more TF's than the Series X), and a larger SSD you could've bought years ago and pop in it. All for $700, boy... if you bought this... you are the MARK.
This is crazy. I think I’ll pass
Im not delusional PC is fire i love it i honestly only deal with PS5 due to console exclusives...I'll try the pro and if im not satisfied its going back lol
PS5 Pro has about 10% better overall real world performance than PS5 for about 80% more💰is🤪💩‼️
It’s actually $310 because the stand is $30 so you’ll have more money to upgrade your PC
It's 700 and you spend that money on 4070 or 3070 and new cpu
@@zerosam5541 it's nowhere near a 4070
As the pro is a digital version the price comparison should be with the digital PS5 at $399 then add the stand price, so $330.
I like indie games that's crazy for somebody to say that
The sad part is that the marketing wasn’t clever at all and we all saw it coming from a mile away but these fan boys were just hyping each other up for no reason this just gave Sony the excuse to charge more for there hardware 💀
Playstation just lost another exclusive: Death Stranding Director's Cut is coming to Xbox consoles
Good. I want everyone to experience that game. It's really good!
Good work man 😂😊
It's not even a 4070 equivalent. It's around 4060-4060Ti. LOL
Oh wait, to be more correct, the PS5 Pro's GPU is probably almost as strong as 4070, but because of its weak CPU and the fact that they're a combined unit (APU) and sharing the same RAM instead of having dedicated VRAM, it's practically run games worse than RX 6800 / 4060 Ti.
I love today because all the xbots channel running damage control lmao those 12 tflops that they wouldn’t shut up are now saying nothing matters lmao
They are fueling the console war
They want everyone to buy the thing and make up for their huge CONCORD loss.
My 5700xt was getting a consistent 78-80fps in cyberpunk lol
Still more powerful than 80% of all PCs
80%? Where did you get that number from?
PS5 Pro is a JOKE i definitely regret getting one Sony didn't even added all PS4 Pro features meaning for old PS4 games i still need my PS4 Pro
the Only reason to buy a Pro is the 2TB storage but if you already have PS5 for the same Money you can get 8TB NVME SSD it's just insane how Overpriced this thing is plys it's made from Low Quality Recycled plastic the cheapest crap available
It's like you said they just want to position themselves as the premium brand. So they needed to put something out there so that the premium customer could go for. But the real problem is developers are now lazy and just don't optimize their games. They would much rather complain about the hardware and then push graphics to the max then try to make anything run appropriately.
Those three guys look like they have lived with their parents for 40 years
😂

thing about pcs being restricted ( " restraint or bottleneck " )
with their cpus. again what are you on about. not too mention
those games you are showing are not even patched yet so your
just gaslighting at the same time you must be some pc shill.
Have you ever compared a 6 core desktop CPU to that of a console?
DF did it. Before you start hurling insults, find the video and watch it.
Digital foundry aint nothing but pc gamers paid by ign which are Xbox fan boys why are they testing and showing every games without patches hes talking about not being able to tell but they showing gms without patches 😂😂😂 clowns yall keep pay thousands to say your pc is better it should be you spent 3000 dollars i will stay with my pro
